2 years later… 2004, England
Wallace pushed the door open slowly, to see the old man lying on the bed with a respirator over his mouth and nose. He did not hear his arrival, but was awake and breathing heavily. The head of the man gradually turned towards the door.
“Is… that you Becky…?” his voice so weak, so helpless, so hoarse from the repetitive coughing.
Wallace walked over towards his bedside. “Vicki…?” The man had many lines on his face. His dull eyes stared blankly up at Wallace, obviously not seeing him.
“No…” Wallace said, his heart torn to see the man at the verge of his life. Wallace had heard of his critical illness news, and decided to visit his father one last time. They remained silent for a moment as the man shook his head in disbelief. “Kin Wah…? What took you so long?”
Wallace knelt by the bedside holding the hand Vincent held out to touch this long lost son of his. His eyes stung with tears as he bit his lips, regretting that he had not come earlier.
“I’m sorry… Dad… Dad…” He called the word he never had the chance to mention since the divorce of his parents. “I… I had to wrap up my work with the Wu’s… And I… I was afraid Michelle would have returned to you, I…”
Vincent seemed to have gained some strength from their grasping palms. He patted Wallace’ hand, soothing him as Wallace poured their story since their separation, right up to his meet with Michelle in Hong Kong.
Vincent let go of Wallace’ hands and remained quiet. “You took two years to debate if you should meet up with your father because of Michelle? You must’ve loved her a lot…”
“I’m sorry dad! I’m a useless son…” Wallace held onto his Dad’s hand trying to repent.
Vincent shook his hand away, shaking his head slowly. “You’re not my son… You’re not…” He coughed a few times, his breathing wheezing loudly.
“Dad! Please, I know… I’m a coward, I’m useless… but… but I’m still your son, please forgive me for being so cowardly and selfish!” Wallace pleaded his father who suddenly turned cold towards him. He remembered the times when he was young; his father really loved him and often piggy back him running around Yip’s residence. He just wanted to pay his father the least a son him could do.
“Vicki… my poor child, I’ve owed you too much, I’ll come in just a moment to make up for you…” Vincent said as a tear rolled down his rough, wrinkled skin recalling the times Vicki had took his brutal whips to protect Michelle. His own daughter that he had not met until two years ago, and she was already gone. How bitter could things get? He was hoping for the return of his three children… He was waiting, but now, there’s no such need. He did not know why Michelle hadn’t return to visit him, but he knew his other daughter is already waiting for him in the another world, slowly he closed his eyes, as serene silence drowned away Wallace futile pleas for him to hang on until the doctor arrive.

Victor patted Wallace on the back. “My deepest condolences…”
“I’m sorry about Vicki too,” Wallace said. “I have no idea the news hasn’t reached you guys yet. I thought…”
“She’s a special girl. An angel that will always light up hearts of all that had the honor to know her,” Victor replied sadly.
“What’s going to happen…?” Wallace looked around the lobby of Yip’s Corporation.
“We’ve been trying to track Michelle, but… she’s missing. Do you know where she is?” Victor asked.
“Missing?! I… I don’t know. When I left, she was married to Raymond Lam, the only son of the rising Lam’s Corporation. It shouldn’t be that hard to track her! What happened?” Wallace asked anxiously.
Victor shook his head pitifully at Wallace. This guy must’ve left behind a lot and went into hiding. The divorce news and Michelle’s disappearance was all over the international media as Raymond and Michelle had been the sole heirs to two gargantuan international corporations. He began filling Wallace in as Wallace eyes’ bulged in disbelief.
“You should’ve never left her side…” Victor said. “You’ve no blood relation with Ms Yip, you were adopted by Vincent’s ex-wife in exchange for Vicki…”
“What… No…” Wallace head began spinning in a daze. He had gone for a long vacation after settling things with the Wu’s. In fact, he chose a secluded place and lived days like time was constant. He did not want to see more news on the ‘prince & princess love’ thus he cut off all media sources, allowing himself to nurse his wounded heart. When he finally thought he had found peace, he dared himself to meet up with Vincent, only to hear him sick in bed. His memory began stirring all the flashes he tried hiding behind him. Raymond… Raymond had told him… How stupid of him not to listen!
“Michelle… what’ve I done…? Have I lost you forever?!” He shouted in woe at the gloomy skies above him.

Hong Kong
In the dressing room…
The woman dressed in the wedding gown looked charmingly beautiful. She was naturally stunning enough, but the gown made her too enchanting for words. She was still busy checking her looks in the full length mirror before her when…
“Jess…”
She whirled around to see another girl also in a wedding gown.
“Niki! You’re so beautiful… Kevin’s going to faint at your dazzling beauty…”
“Same goes to you… Except Louis’ going to spring awake instead of fainting… he’s been sleeping way too long…” Niki returned her compliment. It was true that the two girls in their wedding gown could melt any men’s heart.
Jessica nodded. I have faith he will… “He’s made the promise with me…”
Tavia came from behind.
“Wow, there’s another beauty…” Niki greeted her friend.
The three of them looked at each other and smiled. “So we’re finally really doing it huh…?”
“I only wished Michelle was here,” Niki said. “I still don’t understand why she left… so suddenly and what a sudden divorce. She didn’t even wait for Ray…”
Tavia shifted uneasily. Jessica stomped Niki’s right foot with her 2 inch heels. “Ouch!”
“Sorry Tavia, I shouldn’t have brought this topic up,” Niki looked at Tavia’s troubled face.
“It’s alright. I’m wondering as well… I… I’ve missed her as well. Do you think I’ve done right?” Tavia eyed Niki and Jessica, who reassured her with a trio hug.

Jessica stopped before the door she was too familiar with. She could’ve made her way to it blindfolded. Her hope lay behind the door. And today, she had made the biggest bet of her life. She was getting married to Louis, even though he had not even budged for the entire 2 years since the incident.
But his condition never worsened either. He had laid so peacefully, so silently that he looked as though he was just taking a very, very long sleep after the tiring years of being undercover with the Mo’s.
Jessica shook off her tensed feeling, and said the same prayer she had said every time she came to visit him. Her hands touched the knob and turned it. She took in one last deep breath and then slowly let it out again, collecting her courage.
Please be awake Louis…
Finally, she pushed the door open.
“Hello Jessica, I’ve been waiting…” Louis was sitting upright on the bed, not in a hospital wear, but handsomely clad in a black tuxedo, his hair all combed and gelled, his good-looking face freshly shaved.
I must be hallucinating again! Jessica hurriedly jumped out of the room and closed the door again. Her heart was pounding hard.
I must calm down… I mustn’t be too tensed…
Slowly, she peeked into the room again. The bed was empty. Jessica swung open the door and dashed in. In the hurry, she had forgotten that she was in her wedding gown and almost tripped.
A firm hand caught her by the waist and turned her around. Jessica gasped when she found herself staring straight into Louis’ shining eyes. Their faces were just an inch away; she could feel his breath warming her face.
“You look like a goddess; I must’ve gone to heaven…” Louis murmured softly, gazing the beautiful face before him.
“Louis… I… I don’t want to awake from this hallucination… I don’t care… Steven said it’s all the mind power, but I just can’t fight this wonderful dream… I’d rather be asleep and dream being with you than to awake and see you asleep,” Jessica held tightly to his shoulders.
“You’re not delusional… Jess, I’ve really awaken…” Louis gently brushed a strand of her hair aside. He lowered his face to hers and kissed her on the lips.
Jessica pulled him tighter, and sunk deeply, melting in the kiss. Don’t wake me please… If this is the only way I can meet Louis, then let me sleep by his side forever…
The door of the room opened. Steven and Myolie walked in and clapped.
“Louis…?” Jessica broke apart to touch his face. “You’re real…”
Steven nodded. “In fact this cunning fox awoke two days ago.”
“The day I told you about our wedding…?” Jessica looked back at him. Louis nodded.
“I heard. In fact I’ve heard everything you said for the past few years, but I just didn’t have the strength to open my eyes. But my wedding, I would have to wake up…” Louis said.
“Louis!” Jessica jumped at him, crying with joy. Louis held her tightly, they would never let go of each other anymore.

“Such friends you are, if it weren’t for Louis, I wouldn’t even be able to join this celebration of 3 weddings!” Steven punched Kevin’s shoulder.
“Well you’re here aren’t you?” Raymond grinned.
“As his doctor on duty! He’s not supposed to be leaving the hospital, but well this wedding is given some exception,” Steven patted on Louis’ back.

“Ron, I have a feeling Leila’s fighting for the flower balls, and there are three she’s bound to get one... you’re not going to run from marriage any longer,” Kevin nodded towards the many girls who were squealing with excitement as the three brides turned and flung their flowers over.
Ron laughed. “I guess I’m as doomed as you are…” Leila was already hopping back with one of the flower balls in her hands and waving it jubilantly at Ron. She tripped over an uneven surface of the ground and lurched forward to hug Ron pressing their lips together.
“You clumsy goose!” Ron said, but smiled all the same while Leila blushed considerably as others laugh on at their accidental kiss. Ron suddenly put his hand at the back of her head and pushed their heads together again for a real, deep kiss. The rest cheered and whistled on. After the kiss Ron dropped to his knees, flipping out none other than a ring box from his pocket.
Everyone was definitely caught off guard. “You cunning fox! You’ve been planning!” Kevin accused laughingly, but Ron’s face was straight as ever as he muttered the most important line of his life.
“Yes! Yes!” Leila pulled him up from the ground not even waiting for him to slip the ring into her finger and hugged him until he choked for air. The rest shook their head blissfully at the newly engaged couple.

“Ray, Michelle never told you the reason she left…?” Louis asked him.
Raymond’s smile faded a little then looked at the blue skies above him. “She’ll be happier without me. We shared a very beautiful love but it is the past. I don’t want to be the obstacle that caused her to cease loving…”
“Tavia’s a wonderful girl, you must appreciate her…” Louis said looking at Tavia, standing a few feet away, chatting brightly with Jessica and Niki.
Raymond looked at Louis and replied after a while. “I will…” He was wondering upon Louis’ remark because Louis barely knew Tavia, somehow he felt it more of a Michelle’s message.
Louis just smiled and gazed at the drifting clouds above them. Thanks you Michelle… For all you’ve done… I know you can hear this… If you still can remember that you once went all out to help a helpless and lost guy named… Louis…

Michelle stepped into the room. She was not very strong yet, but she could manage.
“Hi Louis…” she spoke to the man who laid still. “Still too lazy to wake up huh?”
“I’ve had few operations and I’m already hopping about, you’re being plain lazy again… Remember what I said? Even if there’s no path, we’ll dig you a tunnel out. Now you’re out, but you’re not even enjoying the sunshine…”
“I’m glad after all this mess; you’ve finally found your path out of Mo’s… I’ll never regret my decision to help you, though it may have cost me my memory… I wonder how much longer I’ll be able to remember you… and the rest… and Raymond… Wallace… Kin Wah…” she sighed pulling her wig down to air her scalp.
“If you awake… tell them for me… Tell Raymond to appreciate Tavia. Woman needs to feel appreciated, they need to know their man will protect them, love them… Raymond’s right. I’ve been denying my own love. I’m not Raymond’s swan. Not anymore. Tavia is the right one… Vicki’s words are too right. Love has no right or wrong, no first come first serve, no should or should not, but only the love feeling so complicated no one can clarify the theory behind it… I may have been Ray’s wife first, but that doesn’t mean I’m the right one…”
Michelle wiped away the bead of tear down her cheeks and laughed. “Why am I telling you this? I guess after all the times of meeting in dark alley, we’ve become good friends huh? Louis, Jessica’s waiting, don’t make her wait too long okay? Careful someone kidnaps her away…”
“Louis… do you know the force behind me to help you? I was a musician when I met Daniel… But after his death, I realized this world has no justice, I took up Law. I promised to uphold justice no matter where or what it concerns and especially the cases people forgo… like yours… You were so trapped and lost you were becoming one of them. But I knew you weren’t like them… Justice is so important, it’s definitely more important than my memory…”
“Louis, take care… Take good care of Jessica too… I have faith in you,” Michelle bid her final farewell.
She stepped out of the room quietly shutting the door just as a bead of hot tear oozed from the corner of Louis’ left eye, trickling down his face, as a token of appreciation he can never convey vocally to his savior.

Okay the way Wallace found out about his non-blood relation is dumb but I’m getting lazy to think of any dramatic way. He’s just got to find out… Haha… Let me count, 1, 2… and 3! I said to expect 3 more chapters right? What’s going to happen to me if I tell you that’s it, that’s the last chapter of WR II? Leave comments to let me know, while I run to get myself a shield first…
