She glides towards her office only to fine her husband…ex-husband waiting for her in one of her chairs in her office. She smiles and greets him…
“Ken, what are you doing here?” she asks in surprise as she sits the opposite direction from where he sat
“Just dropped by,” he answered
“What is it, is there something wrong?” she asks
“I need a favor,” he replied dryly
“I knew you came here for a reason, it’s nothing new,” she says and rolls her eyes
“Ok, I’m here to tell you that I cannot watch Mae today,” he answered
At the sound of her daughter, Raine’s face expression changed. Mae was Ken and her four year old daughter. Ken and Raine had been married for one year, then got divorce there parents had arranged there marriage.
The two tried to push there feelings, but as much as they tried they couldn’t seem to do so.
Ken and Raine we’re best friends from the start, and they had guessed that’s just how it’s meant to be.
There we’re times when they talked about each others problems, and there we’re times when they we’re mad at each other. But there arguments wouldn’t last because one of them would give in easily.
“It’s you’re turn today Ken,” Raine wailed
“Raine, I have a business trip to Canada, and I can’t just bring our daughter it’s dangerous what if she gets lost, or what if…” Ken started to over think the situation
“Ok, ok but you’re going to have to watch her two days in a row when you come back,” She says
“Ok thank you,” Ken stood up and hugged her
For a minute or so they stood side by side next to each other in silence.
“I guess I have to cancel my appointment for today,” Raine scrunched her nose
Ken gladly pinched the tip of her nose and smiled, “I love you,” he whispered
“I love you too, now don’t get mushy on me,” Raine says with a laugh and lightly hit his shoulder
“IS there anything you want when I get back?” Ken asked her. He didn’t want ending up like his last overseas deal…
*Flashback*
Ken was already in the airport waiting for his flight to be called, when he heard his cell phone ring. He answered it without looking at the screen…
“Wei,” he answers
“Pa, guess who?” he heard a little girls’ voice
“Hi Mae, how’s my princess,” Ken sweet talked his daughter, before hearing someone laughing in the background.
Ken rolled his eyes, “Let me talk to you’re mom Mae I know she want something,” Ken said
“Ken,” Raine says gently
“What is it this time?” Ken wailed
“Can you drop by Victoria secret and by me some lotions, lingerie, and perfume, I’m running out from the ones you gave me last time,” Raine said
“I don’t even know why I married you all those years ago, I feel like a married a child, thank god I divorced you or else I’d end up going nuts in no time,” Ken teased
“Ken,” Raine warned
“Ok fine, but I’m going to miss my flight,” Ken said when he heard his flight being called from the telecom
“Oh look our daughter wants to talk to you,” Raine hand the phone to her daughter and motioned her to say what they talked about.
Yes! That’s right Raine and the Mae had secretly planned Ken to miss his flight to get him back for forgetting his own birthday last month.
They knew it wasn’t his fault he was just a busy man, and sometimes forgetting your own birthday wasn’t a big thing. But not to the two ladies
“Ok baby what is it?” Ken asks his four year old daughter
“Pa, can you buy me a new princess dress, a new doll, and please bring taffy (there dog) something too, you don’t want him feeling left out do you?” Mae asks and tries to not laugh at the mention of her puppy
“But his just a dog,” Ken said a little irritated, and then he heard his daughter angrily pass the phone to her mother. Ken pulled his hair in frustration, of all times his daughter was being irrational like her mother
“Ken, taffy should get something too,” Raine joined in
“What should I get for her, a comb, a nightgown, a husband,” Ken sarcastically said
“A comb set would be nice, and don’t get her a husband she’s only 3 months old,” Raine said
“I can’t believe this,” Ken said
*End of flashback*
“As you may know valentines is coming up,” Raine began, Ken getting a clue of what was going on, eyes grew twice its size
“I’m not giving you another baby, you and Mae are enough,” Ken said when he remembered how Raine acts. More than Mae, Raine was Ken’s big baby. At least that’s what he thought
“It’s not that,” Raine bit her lower lip, she knew he couldn’t resist it, but to follow what she wanted
“Ken I want to buy a restaurant, and please help me out,” Raine clasps her hands together and pouted her lips even more
“What? Why don’t you do it, you have enough money to by all the restaurants if you wished too,” Ken said to her
“Fine be that way,” Raine turned around and crossed her hands in front of her chest
Ken still did not bulge; instead he went behind her and kissed the back of her head with a silly grin.
“I have to go,” Ken said without waiting for a reply he turned to leave
“I can’t believe he didn’t fall for that one,” Raine snapped her fingers and continued with her work
