The day had come when he was finally able to step foot into the office as a legitimate employee. It had been a while since he last worked in an office setting like this, the last time he did it was...well...a long time ago.
Walking into the office he was greeted by the many other employees, especially the female employees who seemed to have heard about his arrival and prepared themselves for the occasion. Ron couldn’t help but smile back revealing his dimples as the female employees all found themselves blushing to his charming looks. The male employees seem to be less fond of him and saw him as more of a competition than as a new ally. This all made sense to him as a psychologist who specialized in animal behaviour, particularly in human behaviour.
Ron walked over to the secretary’s desk and greeted her, asking her about where he should go, and etc.
Ron: Hi, I’m
Secretary: You’re Ron Ng, I know, today’s your first day of work...I was told to send you straight to Ms. Chung...her office is just down the hall
Ron: Thanks
Secretary: Oh...by the way, welcome and I’m Sharon
Ron: Thanks, you already know my name so...I guess I don’t have to say it again...but...nice to meet you Sharon. I’m going to get going now...hopefully I’ll see you around (he smiled)
Heading down the hallway towards Linda’s office, Ron made several observations on his colleagues. Everyone seemed to have something on their mind but no one’s action made it look suspicious. Noticing Linda’s name plate on the door, Ron knocked three times and the door opened.
Linda: Hi
Ron smiled: good morning Ms. Chung
Linda: Why don’t you come in and have a seat and we’ll discuss about your placement
Ron: Sure
Linda’s office seemed to be a bit empty, as in it felt as though she had never put a single thought into decorating her office. Everything there felt as if it was there since forever with the only exception being a picture frame found on her desk which Ron had assumed to contain a photograph of her father and herself. In a way Ron felt as though the office itself was a reflection of how she was truly feeling. He pitied her and wanted to tell her that things will be ok...
Linda: Well...you made it!
Ron: I sure did...and I’ll make sure that we will both find out the truth and...help you personalize this office...
Linda smiled: I think I like it the way it is...that’s how my father had left it and...it’s also how I intend to keep it...
Ron: I think your father would rather have you design it to your liking than living in the past, in his shadow...but it’s really up to you...you seem a bit more ‘fun’ than this office’s vibe
Linda: And how would you know that?
Ron: I have my ways...but you could always prove me wrong...
Linda: Really...
Ron: Ya...you could ask me out on a date and prove to me that you’re this totally boring person
Linda laughed: Oh, so that’s what you want
Ron: Hey, I’m not the only male employee at this company who wants a date with our gorgeous female ‘president’ at the moment...and I know as a fact that there are others who want more than just a single date with you...
Linda’s face turned a bright pink: I don’t know whether I should feel flattered or embarrassed that you said those words
Ron: You can take it however you like...I’m saying that as a statement and as a warning...you should be careful and be more aware of those around you and their motives...not everyone here is as genuine in helping you as your uncle Bobby...
Linda: What about you?
Ron: This is my job, my responsibility, I’m not helping you out of the goodness of my heart...but I’m afraid that...the more time I spend with either you or my actual target, my motives will change and well, that would be the end of me...as it was years ago...
Linda: What do you mean?
Ron: I think I’ve said a bit too much...and the other employees are going to start talking if you don’t let me out of your office soon...we both don’t want any rumours to start sprouting now, do we?
Linda: well...fine, we’ll have this talk another time...
Ron: Are you proposing a date?
Linda: I don’t think your girlfriend would approve of that...but anyways I’ll show you to your office since my uncle’s not here today
Ron: Alright then...lead the way Ms. Chung
Ron followed Linda outside her office and down the hall to a vacant office and surprisingly there was already a secretary sitting at her desk outside the office doors.
Secretary: Ms Chung, and you must be Mr. Ng, I’m Natalie, and I’ll be your secretary for the time being
Ron: For the time being?
Linda: Natalie is supposed to be in the R&D department, but at the moment we’re not really planning anything big and so they were able to ‘spare’ a hand...but don’t worry we’ll hire you a permanent secretary soon
Ron: Well, nice to meet you Natalie, even though the time that we’ll be spending together will not be as long as I would hope considering how you seem to be a lovely person...but I hope that the time we will spend together will be great nonetheless
Ron smiled at her
Natalie: I look forward to working with you too Mr. Ng
Linda: Well, why won’t you help Ron get settled in and I’ll head back to my office
Natalie had helped Ron settle into his new office, she even gave him a stack of files to read through about their annual reports and all the large projects they’re working on. Even though this wasn’t something that he would naturally do, it was part of his new character and well, his responsibility. But there was still a thought lingering in the back of his mind...who is behind all of this. There seemed to be a huge missing piece in this puzzle that he was trying to solve and working here was only the first step. There’s just too much that he still has to do...
From the files he was reading he realized that the company is also managing the shopping mall downstairs as well as a couple of smaller stores along the street and he felt as though it was time for him to do some analyzing.
Ron walked out of his office and noticed that Natalie was still sitting there
Ron: I’m going to take a walk around to see what else our company is doing other than all of the paper work that’s sitting on my desk. If you want, you can join me
Natalie: No, it’s ok...I’ll be sitting here just in case anyone comes over and wonders where you went
Ron: Ok, I’ll see you in an hour or two then...
His intent was obvious; it was to observe his target...for some reason their first few meetings intrigued him enough to make him want to find the truth even more. She was not exactly how he had originally imagined her to be after reading her files...no...She felt more innocent, more naive, gullible...and of a course a little over the top paranoid. But that’s a different story.
Ron took the elevator down the main foyer and out the doors into the open busy streets. He wanted to make his walk look casual, without his true intent being obvious and so a cup of coffee made the most sense.
Walking towards the flower shop with a cup of coffee from Starbuck, Ron noticed that Macy was outside arranging the flowers, while the actual owner was nowhere in sight.
Ron: Good morning!
Macy turned around in surprise: Good morning! What are you doing here?
Ron smiled: I work in that skyscraper over there...and it’s my first day...so I’m taking time to observe my surroundings
Macy: oh...
Ron: Where’s your boss?
Macy: Don’t tell me you like her? Don’t you have a girlfriend?
Ron: Oh please, she’s not my cup of tea...I’m just wondering if she’s close by or not...she might end up chasing me around the street with a broomstick or something accusing me of stalking her
Macy laughed: that does sound like something she could do...but you don’t have to worry, she’s not here right now
Ron: She’s not here? Is she playing hooky and leaving you all alone?
Macy: I think she got a phone call from her mysterious boyfriend and ran off
Ron: Mysterious boyfriend?
Macy: He calls a few times a week...apparently he’s not in town but whenever he calls she gets all lovey dovey
Ron: Is that even possible?
Macy: My boss is a nice person, just not around you
Ron: I meant the boyfriend part, what type of guy could possible stand her eccentric character?
Macy laughed: She’s not eccentric, I guess she does seem that way when you’re around, but trust me she’s a great person...just not towards you in particular...which is weird
Ron: That, I agree with...my mom always tell me I’m a likeable guy...
Macy muttered: probable cause you’re easy on the eyes
Ron: what?
Macy blushed: Nothing...I was...talking to the flowers...
Ron: Right...I’m gonna say that you’ve been spending way too much time with your eccentric boss...
Macy: speaking of her...I think she’s walking this way...and she doesn’t seem too happy...I’m going to head inside...good luck
Ron: What?
By the time Ron turned around Tavia was already there looking at him
Tavia: What are you doing here?
Ron: Making observations of the area...since I’m a newly hired employee of Eclipse Enterprise and part of my duty as manager in the marketing department I think making observations is necessary
Tavia: Are you done making your observations?
Ron: No
Tavia: Well then, I don’t want to get in your way
Ron: I guess I’ll continue my observations and...You can get back to whatever you intend to do
Tavia: I will...oh and next time when you’re making your observations, could you refrain from bothering my employee
Ron: Bothering your employee? Wow, you need to get your eyes checked. We were having a decent conversation until you came along, Ms. Yeung
Tavia: well, Mr. Ng
Ron: You remember my name; I guess I must’ve left an impression on you from our previous encounters
Tavia: I...
Ron smiled: I better continue with my observations, maybe we can have a ‘nice’ talk another time then

Did you like it? I hope you did...cause I had a great time writing it and I'm totally looking forward to the next chapter...oh it's quite humourous and exciting. Actually, it has a lot of my thoughts on the latest TVB series and of course I will be using my favourite characters in this fanfic (Michelle and Wong Ching) to express those 'feelings'
