Chapter 9

Truth be Told, I knew it from the start (JJ+Han.K)

“Aigoo, why did that loser even bother calling me?” I scowled at my phone which had my ex-boyfriends caller ID on it. “Fine, I don’t need you anyways since I’m now in Korea for my vacation!” I smirked at his photo on my cell phone’s wallpaper which I was just about to delete.
My lame boyfriends had broken up with me the week before just because he was ‘into’ someone new. I bet he wanted to get back together but it was too late now. He had already showed that he was unfaithful, that lying good for nothing egghead…breath Yuan Yuan. I turned off my phone and got off the plane. The first thing I wanted to do was try out the food here, it seemed so mouth wateringly delicious on TV.
“HERE I COME, MY FIRST CAKE IN KOREA!” I yelled aloud without noticing the people near me. Since no one knew me yet, I thought I could have some fun. I rolled my suitcase along and had hitched a ride in a taxi; I had already exchanged my money from Taiwan and was now ready to spend it all. I could finally get him out of my head, mister wimp.
“Where would you like to go miss?” The taxi driver said cheerfully. He seemed only a few years older than me for a driver.
“Do you know the cheapest hotel or something?” I replied, while looking at his ID. “Umm… Mr. Kangin.”
“You bet I do! Buckle up kid.” Kangin started the car and it was long till I had gotten to a nice hotel. Only took 20 minutes for the ride, which wasn’t boring at all since Kangin and I talked like we’ve known each other for a long time. He was funny. “Here we are, Big Junior Hotel.”
“That’s a weird name for a hotel.” I joked.
“Well, it is the best and cheapest one around here. Welcome to Korea by the way.” Kangin said as he opened the car door for me.
“You bet I will. Thanks and bye.” I said as I gave him a pat on the back. The nice driver Kangin drove off and suddenly I remembered my urge to eat something sweet. “Cake!”
I walked in through the big doors of the hotel and signed up for a room by the main desk. The manager seemed young too. His name tag had said ‘Shiwon’.
“Here is your key, miss Yuan Yuan and I hope your stay at Big Junior Hotel is a pleasant one.” Mr.Shiwon said in a professionally kind tone. I smiled politely, unable to act lady like in front of someone who seemed too prince like to be working at a hotel.
“I didn’t know there were so many cute guys around here.” I mumbled to myself while pressing the elevator. Inside the elevator a cute clerk was waiting.
“What floor, miss?” He said with an angelic smile.
“5th floor please.” I said while peering at his nametag.
“My name is Kim Kibum.” He said as he noticed me looking. I blushed at my failed attempt.
“I’m Yuan Yuan, Hi.” I said giving him a tiny smile.
“So you just arrived in Korea then?” Kibum said while eyeing my suitcase. “Well your going to love it here, we got the best restaurant right on the main floor and a huge indoor pool. Oh, your stop is here.”
The elevator doors opened and I stepped out while thanking the nice clerk. He gave me a bright smile and the doors closed behind me.
It wasn’t long till I had changed and washed up to go to the restaurant. It must be really all that since Kibum made it sound so brilliant. I checked my reflection in the mirror and made sure I had taken my wallet. I didn’t want to stare at the food drooling.
I pressed the elevator door wondering if Kibum would appear again and with no luck he wasn’t there. It must have been his break, oh well. I entered the restaurant while searching for any small bakery section. To my surprise there was one, I quickly rushed in to the front but I suddenly bumped into someone.
“Watch where your going.” The rude person said while he stepped in front of me.
“Excuse me but I was here first!” I shot back, and I quickly stepped in front of him.
“Miss, you really don’t know the rules around here do you? I am part of the staff so I get staff privilege!” He bragged as he once again came in front of me.
I decided to give up and tapped my foot impatiently as I waited behind him. Now that I got a good look at him, he was tall and seemed to have a good built. Wait…no! I shouldn’t be saying this! He is totally rude anyways, even though his voice was mesmerising. I blushed wildly at my awkward behaviour. I was just dumped by my boyfriend and here I am crushing on someone I just met.
“Shit, forgot my money…” I heard him murmur as he drooped his head low. I giggled at his reaction and bad luck. Good thing I hadn't forgotten to bring my wallet. He noticed my snickering and turned around. I suddenly stopped when I saw how attractive he was. He had smooth yet radiant black hair on his fair skin. His eyes were absolutely adorable. I blushed while looking at his annoyed face. “What are you staring at?”
“Your crippled eyes!” I said aloud as I snapped out of his trance.
“I bet you were thinking I was hot, weren’t you?” He smiled devilishly as he gloated. I felt my cheeks getting hotter. “Don’t worry, it happens all the time.”
“No! Why would I fall for an egomaniac like you?” I scoffed, satisfied with my comeback. This guy was getting on my nerves. He only looked at me smiling as if he knew everything about me.
“You’re… right. So to make up I’ll let you buy me cake!” He smiled as he pulled me in front of him and pointed at a chocolate moose cake. “I’d say choose this one.”
I rolled my eyes and decided to at least make friends with him as a start. He had his good sides.
“By the way I’m Han Kyung. I work as a waiter here.” Han Kyung said as he was suddenly a nicer person. I looked at him confused but he only continued ignoring my awkward stare. “You must be new here?”
“Uh… yeah. I’m Yuan Yuan, I came today from Taiwan.” I finally replied but I was still feeling a little nervous. His gaze seemed to draw me in.
“Here is your cake miss.” The bakery guy said. I nodded and gave him the money. I was finally able to eat my cake! The only problem was Han Kyung.
“Yay, let’s go sit over there.” Han Kyung said as he pulled me by my hand towards a table by the window which viewed the pool. I had to let out a small chuckle since he seemed so carefree. He opened up the box and handed me a piece, I took it and stared at him in amazement as he gobbled it down. He must have really liked sweets. “What? Never seen a hot guy eating cake?” He laughed at his own joke.
“You’re the one eating like a pig.” I replied while giggling. “Are you always complimenting yourself?”
“Only saying the truth.”
From the other side of the window I heard a knocking. Both Han Kyung and I turned to see Kibum waving happily towards me. I smiled and waved back, so did Han Kyung.
“You know him?” Han Kyung asked sounding a bit concerned.
“Yeah, I just met him awhile ago. How do you know him?” I said with a hint of curiousness about his sudden change in behaviour.
“We work together and we were friends since high school.” Han Kyung took a small bite out of his cake. “So, are you enjoying your cake?”
He had suddenly changed the subject. I liked his nicer self but at the same time missed his jerk act.
“Way better than I thought it would be! How come you’re suddenly being so nice though?” I asked eyeing him suspiciously.
“Well I can’t be rude to a cute girl who bought cake for me. We are on a date pretty much you know.” Han Kyung wiped a piece of icing off my cheek as he smiled at me. My eyes quickly widened at his response and deep inside I could hear my heart beating faster. I looked away embarrassed. Han Kyung noticed it and let out a small chuckle.
“I never said yes.” I remarked slyly. I didn’t want to get hurt again, who knows if he was actually nice as he seems to be.
“You kind of did when you agreed to share the cake.” Han Kyung grinned at the side of his left cheek.
Damn he was getting through to me. I looked around trying to think of something to change the topic. I was getting more nervous by the minute.
“Don’t worry; I’m not going to put you on the spot Yuan Yuan.” Han Kyung snickered. I let out a sigh and started to laugh along. Soon we were both having fun talking. Kibum had gone back into the water long ago.
“I’ll see you tomorrow right here at this same time arraso?” Han Kyung said happily as he pinched my cheek. I rolled my eyes while a smile appeared on my face out of nowhere.
“Who says I’ll come?” I teased him back. That should get him stuck.
“I owe you one, remember? I’ll treat you to something good.” Han Kyung grinned and walked away after he pinched my other cheek. Both my cheeks felt hot now. Was I falling for him?
It was around 9 pm and I was feeling exhausted after a long day. I slumped onto my bed thinking of him. Han Kyung...not my ex. It seemed as if he had been replaced in my heart and I was once again completely happy. I wondered what he had planned for tomorrow. I couldn’t wait. Han Kyung was someone I felt like I could be with without any sorrow. He was kind and caring, even though it might have been hard to see at first. Slowly, I had dozed off to a long sleep without noticing.
Han Kyung’s POV**
I couldn’t get Yuan Yuan out of my head. The moment I had seen her, my mind had gone blank. The only way I could keep calm was by acting indifferent.
“Han Kyung you… lame-o!” I murmured to myself as I lay on my bed. “Tomorrow for sure…”

***next day***back to YOU!

I quickly got ready since it wasn’t going to be long till I could see him again. I looked at the clock on the wall and saw that it was 11 am. Just a few more minutes, I was totally anticipating this meeting wasn’t I?
I rushed into the elevator and right there was Kibum. He gave me a good morning nod and pressed the main floor button.

”Going on a date with Han Kyung?” Kibum teased. I blushed at the thought.

”Maybe.” I smiled and finally the elevator doors opened faster today. “See ya”

“Bye”

I quickly walked to our table and found that Han Kyung was already there with huge stuffed panda bear. I couldn’t help myself to hugging the bear and him. Han Kyung had took my hand and kissed it gently on the back of my palm. I blushed immensely.
“So what are we going to do today?” I asked while holding onto my new panda bear.
“We are going to the movies.” Han Kyung said as he gave his most alluring smile. “By the way what are you going to name it?”
“Umm, how about Hanny, for Han Kyung but it sounds like Honey.” I giggled at the thought.
“Why don’t you just call me honey” Han Kyung teased, he was really something alright.
We laughed and soon went to the movies. I had left my bear in the apartment before we had left. It was one of the most fun days I ever had. We had a very strong bond which I found out about when he had finally opened up to me and started telling me more about his life. I had met his father who was a company manager, though I never thought Han Kyung was rich.
“So how come you work as a waiter if you have all that money?” I asked him when we were finally in the hotel.
“ I didn’t want to grow up as a spoiled child. So ever since I graduated I wanted to start off small and build up to something. My father and I keep in touch but I had never once asked him for help and here I am now, having the greatest time with the only girl I ever fell for.” Han Kyung assured me with a wink.
“That was some speech there. Who’s the girl?” I joked as I pinched his cheek. “That’s for my payback when you destroyed my delicate cheek!”
“Here let me help you out.” He moved in close as he wrapped his around my waist. I was too surprised by what he was doing but blissful at the same time. I closed my eyes as he kissed me softly on my lips. It was our first kiss ever and not the last either. Finally after a few more heated kissed, we broke free from each other’s hold. “How was that?”
“Not bad.” I said feeling a bit dazed. It was too good actually.
“You too.” Han Kyung said while he had a side grin on his face. He once again pulled me into another kiss and that time, I knew we were going to be together for a long, long time.
***4 years from that day***
“Han Kyung today is our anniversary!” I happily yelled into his ear as he was watching TV.
“Ouch! You didn’t have to yell! Now your gonna get it!” He pulled me into a kiss as we cuddled on our big sofa in our house. “Our first kiss.” He said as our lips separated.
“No it isn’t! We had that long time ago.” I said as I puffed up my cheeks. “You always forget things.”
“No, the anniversary is FOR our first kiss!” Han Kyung said full heartedly as he poked my nose. This guy could never anger me, I thought to myself.
“Could you have guessed we were going to be like this now, back then?” I asked while I rested my head on his shoulder.
“Truth be told, I knew it from the start.” Han Kyung lightly kissed me on the forehead and I agreed to what he said. I also had a feeling right then.
