“Guys, you can knock off now! Go home and pick up your presents!” He winked to them cheerfully, placing both of his hands casually on the desk.
“Oh Yeah, and you, go pick up your dear Flora!” Moses teased him smilingly.
“Gallen, do you need any help? I can be there earlier to help out.” Jessica offered kindly.
“Emmm.. It’s ok, we can manage. You all just have to finish up the food later!” He replies smilingly.
Moses shook his head and looked at Jessica.
“What’s up?” She inquired bemusedly.
“You should have know someone wouldn’t want you to be gooseberry today.” Moses looked suggestively at Gallen.
“You’re right!” Jessica realizes what he meant and giggled.
“I am teasing-immunized today! Laugh all you want! You all are just jealous of me!” Gallen said with his head high up in sky.
Moses shivers dramatically. “I need some blankets, Jess! Give me a dozen!”
Jessica shook her head and laughed at the two childish fellows.
“Ok ok, enough of it. Please close all the doors for me ok? I need to go now!” He said to Moses as he passes his bunch of silvery keys to him. “See you later!”

“Are you going to Gallen’s birthday party later?” Maggie questioned as she puts the files on Bowie’s desk.
“Why not? We’re all friends! And he was my classmate on top of that.” Bowie replied smilingly, flipping over the stack of file.
Maggie eyed him carefully. Somehow she could feel that Bowie wasn’t giving a very convincing answer.
Bowie took a glimpse of his watch. “Wow! Almost 12.30! Time to knock off, dear! We need to get a gift!” he stood up and tidied his table, then looked at Maggie, who wasn’t at all moving. “Maggie?”
“Huh?” She snaps out of her trance. “What?”
“What were you thinking about? I said we should knock off and go get a gift!”
“Oh… ok, let’s clear up the stuffs first!”
There outside the office, came a suave and smiley Gallen, walking towards Flora’s office.
“Louis! Picking up Jess?” He asked as he walked pass his office and stopped there.
“Yup! You're picking Flora? Arghh… we should have fetch and exchange them at a junction or what! Save the trouble!”
Gallen nods and chuckles. “You’re right! See you later!”
With that he crept quietly into Flora’s office. The door was slightly ajar and Flora was dozing off at her desk. He tiptoed behind her and sent a peck onto her face. She opens her eyes gradually, yawning and stretching her arms, looking smilingly into his eyes.
“Are you working or sleeping here, Flora dear? I pity Bowie!” Gallen grimaces a helpless sigh.
“Did you install some surveillance cameras here, Gallen dear? How did you know I wasn’t working?” She looked at him, pouting.
“Just kidding, dear!” He puts up an innocent look. “Of course you are the best! Sorry… sorry dear, please forgive me…” He held up his hands and put on a puppy face, pulling his ears.
“Who bothers to be angry at you?” She smiles and stood up, clearing her stuffs. “We can go now, have you got the food stuffs?”
“Nope, waiting for you!” He held her hand, and strolled out of the office. “What do you think we should buy? …………” They approached the lift and went in.
Bowie took everything under his eyes. He grimaces a smile. Maggie feels something wasn’t very right…

It was four plus in the afternoon. All their guests would arrive in an hour’s time. Now they were busy preparing the food for the little party.
Gallen joined Flora in the kitchen, giving her a surprise hug from behind and sniffing every inch of her hair like a sleuthhound.
“Hey, go away! You’re disturbing me here! Shoo!” She paused her activity and moves her body vigorously to shake him off.
“No, you won’t bear to!” He continues to cling onto her like a koala bear.
“Arghhh, help!” She hollered.
“Forget it, dear! You can’t bake a cake! Let’s just get one from the confectionery!” He finally let go of her and held her hand to say that.
“I shall prove you wrong!” She pouted and continues sieving the flour.
He stood in front of her and stared at her every little action dazedly. She looks so serious and determined. Cute! Adorable! Simply irresistible!
She pushed the tray into the oven and pressed the button. “Will be ready soon!” She turns and throws a confident smile at him.
He walked forward and cups her face, displaying a dramatic worried face.
“What’s wrong? Flour again?” She tried to wipe her face with her hands.
“No!” He caught her hands in his. “You looked so tired! Told you to quit long ago! That Bowie is torturing my dear!” Out of a sudden he clutched his chest and yelled, bending down a little.
“What’s wrong?” She held on him worriedly.
“Heart pain! Arghh... hurts so much!” He continued with his little act, while she gave him a shove.
“I told you I must give 3 month’s notice before I quit! Can’t you just wait for another month?”
“I can’t wait even for another minute! That Bowie looks dangerous!” Gallen pouted.
“And when have you become such a pitiful pathetic petty creature? Told you he’s already got Maggie!” Flora retaliated and stared at him.
“But that may be a smokescreen or whatsoever, they just started not too long ago…” He continued saying.
“Why are you still so biased against him? I told you he…”
“I hate the way he treated you! How I wish I could chop him into steak then!” Gallen looked a bit infuriated.
“It’s all in the past, forgive and forget ok? Now I will be leaving HT in a month’s time, you can set your heart at peace?” She supports her hands behind his neck.
“Emmm… how about another assurance?” He winks.
“Huh?” Question mark tags floated on her face.
“This!” He bends down and caught her lips in his, conveniently pulling her entirely into his embrace.
A minute later the doorbell rings. There comes the whole gang of people, in multiples of two. Moses and Ada contributed their share of tidbits and Amoy’s famous cookies, Jess and Louis brought in their special recipe marinated stuffs, while Bowie and Maggie carried bottles of Chardonnay and Merlot with them.
The couples each have their entitled share of lovey-dovey moments.
The hosts practically ignored their guests and continue engaging in their little conversation on the balcony.
“What do you have for me today?” Gallen asked grinningly as he surrounds her slender waist with his warm and endearing hands.
“You don't know?” She asked with her eyes wide-opened.
He shook his head ignorantly. She grinned at him and pulls out a purple ribbon from his pocket.
“When did you put this in my pocket?” He looked at her innocently. “A ribbon for a birthday present? Arghh…” He softly pinched her rosy cheeks.
Without uttering a word, she slips the circled ribbon onto her left wrist and tied a knot. “Here you are!” She sways her left hand into the air and cast a wink at him.
“Oh no!” He cast a worried look.
“What?”
“Can I exchange this for something else? I wouldn’t want a hand for a present. No use for it!” He frowned.
“Naughty guy!” She rolls her eyes and gives a peck on his left cheek, then gives him a loving hug, resting her head on his broad and comfy shoulder.
The tactless ringing of Flora’s mobile placed at the side table of the balcony had unwittingly disturb the lovebirds’ endearing moment.
“Give me a minute.” She broke free from the hug and whispered.
Picking up the call, her expression changes, and she excuses herself into the room. Gallen eyed her in bewilderment…
