2 months and 8 days ago, 8 October; 9 months and 10 days before they are officially divorced. The first time she went out with him…

“Give me a minute.” Gallen scurried away to escalator and went a level above.
Flora looked interestingly at the silly fellow who was running hastily into a shop. She was soon disturbed by a pat on her shoulder. She turned around.
“Bowie? What a coincidence!” She remarked.
“Not a coincidence! I followed you here.” He spoke frankly.
“Huh?” She was a bit confused. “Why?”
“Hmmm… I have something to tell you, and something to give you.” He said, and reached for his pockets.
Flashing a bright smile, he presents a little white gold heart-shaped bracelet to her.
“Isn’t this the one I saw at Causeway Bay days ago? When did you get it?” She sounded surprised and elated.
“Let me put it on for you.” He soon slips the bracelet into her left hand and stole a quick peck. “Where has Gallen gone?”
“No idea.” She shrugs her shoulder.
“Better still, we don’t need him around to play gooseberry.” He annotated while holding her hands in his, and whispering into her left ear. “I love you.”
She was smiling sweetly and just as she was about to utter a word, a noise passes through her right ear. She turned to her right, only to see a departing Gallen and his fading back.
“Gallen!” She called after him, but he seemed to have turned deaf, apparent from his disappearance into the crowd not long after.
“What happened?” Bowie questioned.
“No idea.” Flora gives a slight shrug and answers, her smile had apparently vanished.
She spotted the little package Gallen had left lying freely on the floor swiftly, and approached it to pick it up. She stared at the gift for a while before deciding to unwrap it carefully.
“Snoopy?” Bowie let out a soft chuckle. “Never knew Gallen loves soft toys.”
Flora held the Snoopy tight in her hands, practically squeezing it. There was a kind of indescribable feeling that had emerged in her heart. She stared at the toy, and looked up, soon entering a world of her own…

When she finally spotted Gallen somewhere later, she felt her heart was relieved.
“Gallen!” She called out.
He turned around to face her. “Flora?” He was a bit surprised.
She smiled at him. He smiled back…
“Why are you standing alone here?” She implored as she walks nearer to him.
“Emmm… nothing. Just enjoying the breeze here.” He enforced a smile, while turning over to face the sea.
“Why did you leave by yourself?”
“I thought you wouldn’t need me there, a superfluous third person…”
“I am worried about you.” She gazes at him and stated.
“How long have you two been together?” He questioned straightforwardly.
“Huh?” She was apparently startled by him and was hesitating.
“You and him, when did you start?” He restated his qualms.
“Just a week… we had a little argument few days back, so I was ignoring him…” She spoke falteringly.
“So now you have made up with him?”
She nodded. “I hope…”
He took a deep breath. “Sorry I won’t give you my blessings, I’m not that noble!”
“So are we still friends?”
He took another deep breath and extended his hands. “Of course.”

“Why aren't you asleep?” He walks up to her suddenly. “It’s cold tonight, I’ll shut the windows.” He stated as he slides the window to close it.
She turned and gazed at him.
He held her hand and curves his lips. “Turn in early, my present. What were you thinking about?”
“Nothing in particular.” She replied and proceeded to her bed. “Good night.”
He stood there watching her, vacillating between bewilderment and uneasiness. His steady gaze did not waver, but his heart did. He pulled the blinds, and looked through the transparent window. Nothing in sight. Just some lonely orioles with black and yellow feathers pining for their other halves…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
22 October, the day he could formally detached himself from those lonely orioles. He saw her and Bowie on the street. There was a scuffle between them. Looking across the street, he could see those crystallized tears on her fair face. He seems to be reprimanding her. She retaliated and talked back. He sent a slap down her cheek. It seems to have hit Gallen instead.
She ran away in the split of a second. Some vehicles passed by his sight hastily. She was gone. He vacillated between anger and an intangible heart painfulness. Bowie drove off before Gallen could even confront him.
He searched frantically on the streets for her. But to no avail. His heart was sinking. What happened?
Second, minutes, hours had passed silently. He headed home and called Moses and Ada. Nobody had seen her. He couldn’t contain his anxiety and chafe. He gulped down a bottle of Chablis, followed by another one of Chardonnay.
They didn’t appear to be effective. He was still sober, sober of his fears and vexations. He resolves to make another headless search as he approaches the door and opens it.
There she was! There were apparent trails of dried tears on her snowy face. She raises her head and gazed helplessly into his eyes. His heart melted. She throws herself entirely into his embrace. He encircled her tautly in his arms. His organs were vibrating vigorously, and his rib-cage could hardly accommodate the fluctuation. He carried her in…
“Gallen…” Her whisper had snapped him out of his thoughts.
He approaches her with a smile, lying down and tilted his face to face her squarely. “Good night.” He uttered and kisses her forehead.
She closes her eyes and rested on him soundingly. He strokes her hair lovingly. Bad for him, he knew he was suffering from insomnia tonight…
