“What’s the matter? Why are you crying? Our plan is going smoothly, dear.” He strokes her hair lightly and tried to console her.
“Bowie! Can we end all these real fast? I can’t take it anymore!” She cried louder, and that had attracted enough attention to embarrass Bowie.
“Flora, calm down…” He strokes her back hastily. “It’ll be over very soon, trust me!”
She looked at him in tears. “At first I thought it was hard on me accepting Gallen and putting up a show in front of him, but I put all these up because of you…”
“I know…” He cups her face dearly.
“But I guess we are too much now. I think he found out about us last night…”
“Are you sure? If it’s really the case, then he will have not told you the password last night. I guess you’re just being sensitive here.” He comforted her.
But she knew it clearly. Too clearly. She felt that he had intentionally told her that and wanted to give her one last chance. But she didn’t cherish it! Instead, she had carried on with her evil act. She felt she was despicable, selfish! Yet the silly Gallen was still pumping efforts into their seemingly headless relationship, contributing selflessly all the way. What had she done? She stabbed his heart with a stained knife, not only penetrating it and leaving it bleeding, it was infecting inside…
“Now there is just one last step to our plan.” Bowie grinned evilly as he made a call. “Now carry out what I told you to.” Then he hung up.
“What are you up to? Who were you calling?” Flora was uptight and uneasy.
“Just one more step and we’ll have Gallen Lo destroyed! Completely destroyed!” He laughs in a way which makes her shivers.
“What… what are you planning to do to him? You told me you only wanted to snatch the KK deal from him. So now the deal is done, we can stop all these, can’t we?” Thousands of crazy thoughts crossed her mind, but she prayed hard that none of them would turn out to be true.
He smirks and shakes his head dramatically. “You’re still so naïve, Flora! Do you think I only wanted the KK deal? Nope! I want ‘Angel’s Scent’! And I want to see Gallen Lo collapsed. I want to see him desperate. I want to see him defeated!” His tone turned a bit hysterical.
“WHAT?!?” Flora was completely dumbstruck.
“And this is the key to our future, dear!” He sways a diskette in the air.
“That is… ‘Angel’s Scent’ confidential info?” She gasped heavily.
“Yep, thanks to you!” He puts up yet another scary grin.
“You lied to me! You lied! So you were only making use of me all these while!” She couldn’t control her emotions any better. “Give that back to me!” She tried to snatch it from him, but he held it up high in the sky.
“What are you trying to do? You know I love you! You know I am doing this only for our future!” Bowie hollered carelessly on the lane.
“I wouldn’t want such a future, with such an inhuman creature like you!” She shouted. “To attain your selfish aim, you had harmed everybody. Maggie, me and Gallen!”
He places one hand on the metal bar by the pier. “Stop mentioning him! I know… I know you still love him, don’t you? You can’t bear to hurt him! You still miss every day and night you’re spending with him, right?” He stared at her.
She stared back, and sent a loud clap down his face. “You made me do that! I didn’t want to do that…”
“Oh yeah, now you’re blaming it on me! Just admit it, you have fallen for him!”
“I haven’t!” She replied swiftly.
“You have!” His attitude was adamant. “You can’t escape my eyes.”
“I haven’t!” She raised her voice and stared back.
“You have!” He shouted at such a level that everybody turned to look at them and some even got frightened away.
Silence retained for a minute, before Flora finally spoke up. “Yes, I have! So what?”
“You finally admitted it!” He slapped his hand angrily against the bar. “I knew it!”
“You can’t blame me for it! He had been so good to me, but all you would ever do is to call and asked what I have got out of him. I felt like a slave! But I put up with all these, thinking that you really love me, but I was wrong! Terribly wrong!” She felt really heartbroken to tell the truth. “Even until now, you are still thinking how to harm Gallen, without a single tinge of guilt, you’re hopeless!”
“I do love you! But you were too blind with that guy dancing his attention on you! I just can’t let this down!” He looked really agitated.
“Bowie, I’m begging you. Can you please let Gallen go? Enough! You’ve took enough things from him! You don’t need to force him into a corner!”
“So that you could return to him happily and reunite with him?” His steady glare freaks Flora out.
“No! I have no more face to see him again. We’ll leave together, we’ll leave HK Ok? And never ever come back again, Ok? She looked pleadingly into his eyes.
“Didn’t you say you wouldn’t want a future with an inhuman creature like me?” He sounded really sarcastic. “Ah… I got it! You’re just afraid that I will harm your dear Gallen, so you’re proposing this. Am I right?” He raised his voice once again.
“No!”
“Don’t try to lie before me! I would never ever let him go. I will not let you see him again…” He stared ferociously at her, and it really killed her heart, almost completely.
Without further delay, he hauled her recklessly into his car and sped away…

Gallen went back to the office after his failure to find Flora. He was worried. Dead worried. Then he recalled his dialogue session with Maggie yesterday…

“I’ve heard rumors that HT used to belong to his eldest uncle, do you know that?”
Gallen took a long and deep sigh. “I only know a little…”
“Uh huh.” Maggie waited for him to continue his sentence.
“Back at those days when we were in college, HT used to be a family business of the Lams, and his eldest uncle was the chairman. I remember the year when we graduated, his uncle suddenly passed away of a heart attack and Bowie took over the company.” Gallen spoke steadily and intermittently.
Maggie nodded her head slightly. “So were you close to him then?”
“Well, not really. But I guess I am one of his closest friends.” He adjusted his position a bit and lay back comfortably on his arm chair.
“How do you say that?” She looked confusedly into his eyes.
“I guess it’s because of his aloof personality, he doesn’t really have that many friends.”
“Aloof?” She was shocked. “That will be the last adjective I will ever use to describe him!”
Gallen shakes his head lightly. “I think he really changed a lot these years. I haven’t seen him for so many years, wouldn’t be surprised to see changes in him. But…” He let out a slight sigh and dithered.
“Do you know something else?” She eyed him meticulously.
“It’s only my suspicion though.”
“It’s ok. Just say it!” She was eager to know what he had to say about the past Bowie.
“Here’s how it goes…”
