“What’s up with Louis and Jess? I couldn’t get through their phones!” Moses yelped anxiously as he dialed their numbers again and again. He pushed his hand phone hastily back into his pocket.
Ada heaved a long sigh. “Perhaps their battery is flat, Moses! It had been a long day,” She steals a glance at her own watch. “Almost seven! And we are supposed to meet them at the pier at seven! Perhaps they are already there for us! Why not we just get there first and see how?”
“Ermm… Ok.” He raises his head to look at Maggie, who was still in a daze. “Maggie… Maggie!” He snaps his fingers before her eyes to wake her up.
“Eh… yes?” Maggie gazed innocently at Moses.
“Why were you in a trance? Ada was saying that we should go to the pier and perhaps Louis and Jess will be there!”
“Erm… Ok.” Maggie nods her head and stood up. “Eh… I think I need the washroom, you’ll go first, and I’ll join you in a minute.”
“Ok, see you later!” Moses held Ada’s hand and they strolled off together.
Maggie looked around the area and found one nearby clinic, and went in to use the washroom. Minutes later, she emerged only to overhear a conversation.
“Dr. Tin, why did you accept this watch as payment? I don’t think it’s worth that much.” A girl in white, most probably the clinic assistant spoke curiously as she twists the watch in her hands. Maggie thought it looked familiar, and went forward to take a closer look.
“Hey, it’s Bowie’s watch!” Maggie didn’t realize she had actually shouted the words out, and now all the people in the clinic were looking at her as if she was an alien.
“Yes, Miss? Can I help you?” The clinic assistant prompted.
“Erm… may I know, do you know the man who had left this watch here?” Maggie asked pleadingly.
The doctor took a step forward from his position. “How do you know it was a man? You know him?”
“Please, can you tell me please? I can recognize this watch belongs to my friend. He’s around 1.78 m tall, with short hair and he may be wearing a jacket… a dark blue one perhaps!” Maggie tried to fill in every detail she could, hoping that she wasn’t wrong in the first place.
“Erm… seems like you do know him,” The doctor traces his chin with his fingers and continued. “Just now there was this man which quite fits your description who was carrying a girl here for medical help. Then after that he found that he had forgot his wallet so he left this watch here and said that he will redeem it back later.”
“A girl? It must be Flora!” She thought, while raising her head in the next second and probed the doctor again. “What’s wrong with the girl?”
“She was down with a high fever, and I gave her a jab and some medicine.” The doctor replied crisply.
“Erm… doctor, can you tell me where they have headed to? I need to find them urgently!” Maggie pleaded anxiously again.
“Eh… I’m sorry,” He shook his head ignorantly. “I have no idea about it.”
“Ok,” She forced a smile in disappointment. “Thanks anyway, doctor.”
When she was about to exit the clinic, someone suddenly gave a pat on her shoulder. A woman in her forties, with curly hair and tinted spectacles, looking typically like a housewife cast a friendly smile to Maggie.
“Yes?” Maggie looked at the woman bewilderedly.
“Are you looking for Po Zai?” The woman spoke in almost monotonous tone.
“Po Zai?” Maggie searched her brain dictionary for the next few seconds. “Oh yeah, Bowie once told me it was his nickname on the island.” She thought, then replied. “Oh yes! Do you know where I might find him?”
“I just saw him walking towards his grandma house yesterday, so perhaps he could be there!” The woman answered. Maggie mouthed a thank you gratefully and rushed off.

Gallen was badly injured by Bowie’s constant beatings, yet he just refused to reveal anything. There were apparent bruises all around his limbs and face. Bowie threw the iron rod down in anger and stomped out of the house. Gallen shifted himself towards Flora, who was still unconscious.
“Flora… Flora!” He called out in anxiety and vexation.
“Gallen, let’s think of a way to escape while he’s still away, quickly!” Jessica called out hastily and Gallen turned to take a glance of her.
“Ok, let me wake Flora up first.” He turns and tried to knock himself against the unconscious Flora on the bed. “Flora… Flora, please wake up! Flora!”
She begins to show some response by stirring a bit, he tried greater efforts to knock her awake. She gradually opens her eyes, and let out a faint cry.
“Gallen…” She leans closer and took a better look of him, gently caressing his bruised face. “What happened? Bowie beat you up? How could he! He…” She tried to get up but failed to due to fatigue. “Where is he now?” She looked around the house and asked again.
“No idea, he went out, but perhaps will be back soon!” Gallen spoke hastily. “Flora, can you get up? We’ll escape before he returns.”
Flora gasped vaguely. “I remember there is a cutter in the drawer. “She reaches for drawer but was too weak to do so. Gallen back-faced the drawer and pulled it out, rummaging the drawer with his tied hands. Louis and Jessica were anxious but they could do nothing as Bowie had tied their ropes to a pole.
“Here it is!” Gallen finally grabbed the small cutter and began to cut his own rope away. Jessica and Louis felt a tinge of hope coming their way. Within a minute, Gallen had successfully untied himself as he proceeds to untie Jessica and Louis, cutting off the rope that tied them to the pole.
Suddenly, Jessica let out a helpless gasp and closes her eyes. Gallen turned to see Bowie returning with a bottle in his hand. The latter grabs the metal rod again and aimed it at his head. Gallen let out a loud yell and fell heavily onto the ground. He held on to his bleeding head, and pressed hard on it in pain.
“Bowie! No!” Flora tried to crawl out of her bed, only to fall down from it. “Please… don’t do this! Bowie! You only want me, let them go, please! Bowie!”
Bowie throws away the rod and places the bottle on the side table, rushing to help Flora up and places her back on the bed. “I have no choice! They forced me to do this! They traced me to here! I can’t let them go, do you understand, Flora?” He shouted out.
“Please… please let them go, and I’ll go with you, I promise, please Bowie!” Flora beseeched earnestly again.
“No, Flora, you can’t go with him!” Gallen yelled out despite of his injury.
“Please, please let them go, Bowie. Gallen’s injured! You’ll only kill him this way!” She tugged Bowie’s sleeve carelessly and gazed at Gallen. Her heart was breaking seeing Gallen almost soaking in blood.
“Gallen again! Shut up! He’s all ever you will care about! Have you thought of me? Have you ever spared a thought for me?” He hollered hysterically, then picked up the bottle and headed towards Gallen.
He re-tied his hands again. Twisting off the lid, he holds the bottle up and pours the contents onto Gallen furiously. Gosh! What was it? Honey! He then threw the bottle out of the window and stared at Gallen.
“I’ll let you have a taste of how it feels with those little creatures crawling all over your body!” His fiery glare freaks Jessica and Louis out.
“You are crazy! Loony! Let him go! Let him go!” Jessica shouted.
“Bowie, since when have you turned so vicious? Why are you doing all these things? You can’t escape, Moses and the rest will call the police if they find us missing! Surrender and let us go now, Bowie!” Louis stared at Bowie agitatedly, while worrying that Bowie may turn even crazier.
Within the next few minutes, hundreds of ants have landed themselves freely all over Gallen, feeding on the honey on him in satisfaction. Gallen yelled out in pain and disgust, while struggling to keep them away.
Flora felt her heart twisting in agony, yet she could do nothing to save him. She felt so useless, and worn out both physically and mentally. She wanted to scream at Bowie but she could not find the energy to, for she hasn’t exactly recuperated from the fever.
“Bowie!” A familiar yet distant voice shouted out.
He turned around. Only shocked to find Maggie at the window. Both of them stood still in their position, speechless. Somehow, he finds it a challenge to face her…

On the other hand, Moses and Ada were still waiting at the pier.
“It’s already half past eight! What happened? Now even Maggie is nowhere to be found! This is exasperating!” Moses threw his mobile angrily on the ground.
“Calm down, Moses!” She picked up the phone on the ground, and wiped it with a tissue. “Hey, there’s a message, how come you didn’t notice it?”
“Oh, really? I think I must have accidentally switched it to the silent mode! What does it say?”
“It’s from Maggie!” Ada opened the inbox hastily.
“Let me see!” Moses grabbed the phone over and read out the message. “Moses, I have found out where Bowie is, I’m now going to Yung Shue Wan and look for him, Flora and Gallen must be there too, call the police!”
“Oh no! Maggie may be in danger too! Let’s call the police!” Ada shook Moses in anxiety while the latter began to dial the number…
