“Looks like she’s really serious about her promise!” Moses commented smilingly to Gallen as he takes a peek at his sister through the glass. “I’m glad you’ve tamed the princess!”
“I thought you did? You told her about our secrets!” Gallen rebuked.
“Well, if that could make her change in a few days’ time, I guess it’s worth it!” He flashes another smile. “And what plans do you have to award her tonight?”
“I’ll bring her to a special place…” He smiled dreamily. “She’ll like it for sure!”

Jessica was tidying her table and preparing to knock off when she was approached by Flora.
“Jess, do you have last year’s report on this company?” She hands her a document.
Jessica gave her a head-to-toe look and chuckled. “You’ve really changed, my friend! You were never so serious about work!” She pauses and flashes her watch. “It’s time to knock off, dear Flora, I’ll pass it to you tomorrow ok? And I think your dear hubby has some special programme up for your 1st anniversary tonight!”
“How did you know?” She asked curiously.
“Do you mean about your anniversary or the special programme? Well, of course I have my ways.” She smiles. “Now go touch up and enjoy yourself tonight.” She gives her a slight push.
“Ok, I’m off.” She smiles sweetly as she excuses herself.
“How I envy you!” Jessica whispered when Flora was too far away to hear this, and turned around to give Gallen who was in the office a look before leaving the office.

“My car is across the road, just now I was in a hurry and couldn’t find a parking lot…” Gallen pointed to Flora standing right below their workplace.
“No problem, we’ll cross the road.” Flora flashes a smile, and holds his hands while crossing.
Gallen’s hand phone rang and he answered the call while crossing the road.
“Oh, yes… Mr. Yip? Emmm… Sure…” His tone was always so serious over work.
“Don’t talk over the phone when you’re crossing the road, it’s dangerous…” Flora protested.
He turns and smiles at her.
“WATCH OUT!”
A loud crash was heard, followed by the collapse of a body, and the collapse of another’s heart.
“Flora! Flora! Help! Someone help! Call for the ambulance please!” He begs desperately to the crowds surrounding him. If he hasn’t been distracted by the call, if Flora didn’t push him away, if he had pulled back Flora in time… his heart almost shattered into pieces.
The petite girl was now lying in his arms with blood oozing from the very corner of her mouth. And her head was bleeding. Upon the sight of this, his heart almost died from internal bleeding…

Gallen squatted down in a corner outside the operating theatre. Both his hands were placed on his messy hair.
“Where’s Flora, Gallen?” Moses rushed towards Gallen with Ada.
He turned over and gave a solemn look. “She’s still inside… Moses… I… I’m so afraid, I’m so afraid I’ll lose her, she lost a lot of blood just now, it was my entire fault… How I wish I was the one lying in the OT!” He almost lost full control of his emotions.
Moses kept quiet, while Ada gave him a comforting pat on the shoulder firmly. “I’m sure Flora will be alright, she wouldn’t bear to leave you, and us… She’ll be alright, she will!”
“But it’d been 5 hours! And the doctor’s still not out yet! Today is supposed to be a memorable day for us, I didn’t mean to make it memorable this way! Flora… Flora…” He finally broke out, placing himself on the wall.
An hour later, the doctor walked out and announced the death of Flora. Gallen fell hard onto the ground. Ada and Moses went in to take their last look at Flora. When Ada saw the body, she let out a shocking cry.

Gallen’s heart froze. What had he done? He had caused the death of his one and only beloved wife? Out of despair, he remembered Flora’s words…
“I believe, that there are indeed miracles in this world. When you feel hopelessness, never give up, never despair, you have to advance towards the direction you deemed to be most precious, then you will find the way out. When one is at his or her wit’s end, one must believe that there are beautiful things in this world. Miracles do exist!”
He remembered her words, he remembered every single thing about her. He remembered the song ‘Amazing Grace’ sang by the lovely voice:
Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound

'Twas Grace that taught my heart to fear,
And Grace my fears relieved.

“I’m very sorry, he’s an intern, that’s why he made the mistake!” The senior doctor apologized to Ada and Moses as he turns around to lecture the scatterbrained intern before turning back to them and explained. “But it was indeed a miracle the patient had survived. She had much stronger willpower than we had expected. I believe it’s her determination that kept her alive.”
“Miss Chan is now in the ICU.” added politely to them inside the room after elaborating on Flora’s condition.
“Gallen! What are you doing?” Moses rushed towards him, stopping him from banging his head against the wall, which was already bleeding.
Before he could even speak up, Gallen interrupted, “I’ve caused the death of Flora! I’ve caused the dear of my most beloved wife!”
“No, Gallen, listen to me!” He interrupted him, “That intern made a mistake, Flora is now safe and sound in the ICU!”
“What?” His eyes redisplayed signs of hope. “Really? Where? Bring me to her now, quick!” He pleads desperately.

Through the glass of the room Gallen could see his beloved wife lying motionlessly and emotionlessly on the white sheet. She looked just like an angel who had fallen asleep.
“The doctor said there’re some blood clots in her head and it’s not definite when she’ll wake up, if she do, at all…” Moses sighed. “Is this fated?”
“Don’t worry, and don’t make Gallen worried! The doctor said the situation is quite optimistic!” Seeing that Gallen don’t really believe her consolation, she added. “It’s true! You can ask the doctor, he said Flora displayed signs of a strong-willed person in the OT, if not she may not even survive! Perhaps she’ll just wake up soon!”
Moses nodded his head. “You’re tired, Gallen. Go home and take a rest.”
“You two go ahead. I want to be with her, I want to be the first person she sees when she opens her eyes.” Gallen insisted.
The two left him alone, alone in his thoughts. He thought about their past…

“Boss, here is the data you wanted.” Flora passes the document to Gallen, and continued. “Emmm… can you do me a flavor, Mr. Lo?”
“Yes?” He raised his head and look innocently into her eyes.
“Well, I’ve to get something from the top of the cupboard but as you see I’m wearing a skirt today, so could you…” Flora seemingly pleaded.
“Ok, sure.” He stood up and followed her to her office. On their way there Flora threw a naughty wink at Jessica, who was giggling and all prepared to watch what Flora was up to.
“That one, boss!” Flora pointed as he stood on a chair to reach it. When he opened it, a row of dusty, thick files fell right onto him and he fell from the chair, dusty and injured from the “collision”. Moses rushed into her room at the sight of this while Flora giggled with satisfaction.
“Flora! You’re too much!” Moses chided as he helps him up. “You…”
“Forget it, I don’t think Flora meant it…” He tried to console himself as well as Moses.
Flora pouted and rebuked. “I did it on purpose, so what? You should wash your eyes with all those dust, lecher!”
“Me? Lecher? Is there a misunderstanding anywhere?” Gallen was taken aback, wiping off the dust that got into his eyes.
“There is no misunderstanding here. I saw with my own eyes how you tried to molest Jessica yesterday!” Flora rebuked.
“What? I molest Jessica?”
“Don’t try to deny it, you purposely placed something on the ground so she could trip over it and fall on you!” She continues, “And look at the way you’ve been eyeing me since I reported work last week!”
“I…” His face reddened, while raising his right hand. “I swear I didn’t make Jessica fall on me intentionally, it was an accident… I really…”
“I don’t care if you fire me! I don’t really care working for such a boss!” She gave him another stare before leaving the room.

He still remembered clearly how hurt he felt over her remarks. Fortunately Moses was around to clear their misunderstandings later. More than 18 months had passed, but it seemed like yesterday to Gallen. He cherished every single second with her, because he knows very well how much she meant to him. She was his life, she was his everything!
