“Thanks for coming personally. Tell Flora to take a good rest. She can report to work anytime she like.” Bowie put on his brightest smile as he shakes his hand with Ada.
“You seems to know her very well personally, but do you know she is married?” Ada blurted bluntly.
“Yes, I do. But I think she’s getting a divorce.”
“How long have you known her?” Ada inquired.
“We met in a café two weeks ago…”
“And you just decided to hire a stranger you’ve met by chance?” Ada asked.
“From the way we chatted, I guess we clicked well, and since she was in such a dilemma and having such a hard time facing her so-called husband, I might as well lend her a helping hand and…” Bowie replied coolly.
“Are you sure there are no other motives involved?” Ada looked into his eyes.
“I would say you’re surely observant, Miss Choi.” Bowie puts on a bright smile.
“So that is a ‘Yes’?” He smiled, while she continues, “Flora is my best friend, I certainly wouldn’t want her to make a choice that she’ll regret later on.”
“How could you be so sure?” Bowie wasn’t very convinced.
“From the way they loved each other, she wouldn’t treat him like this if she recovered her memory.”
“Yes, it’s loved. It’s in the past tense, and who knows she may be happier with me?” He showcased his level of confidence in himself.
Ada curls her lips and forces a smile, while she excuses herself from his office. “Perhaps. I guess I’ll get going.”
“Ok, I’ll see you out.” He stood up and opens the door.
Ada was worried, very worried for them. Bowie seems a wise and charming guy. And now Flora is not even feeling for Gallen’s agony. She is even joining his rival company, HT. God! What was she thinking of? Flora changed. She had really transformed a lot after the memory loss, she was no longer the playful and childish Flora she knew. Ada's eyelids twitched, and she had an uneasy feeling.

“So that girl isn’t our new colleague, now you can be relieved!” Louis smiled.
“Who knows the real one could be a prettier one?”
“Why are you forever so pessimistic, Ah Yee?” Louis sighed in disagreement. “And Bowie isn’t going to come to you if you continues to sit here and peeks at him.”
“I didn’t!” She objected.
“You did!”
“And do you mean I should take the initiative?” She mumbled.
“Why not?” He shot back.
“I don’t really know… I think it’ll be a fruitless try anyway.” She buried her head into work.
“I think I should offer you some help…” He mumbled to himself.

“Do you know Flora is joining HT?” Moses was almost worked up.
“Hmmm.” Gallen responded calmly.
“It’s HT, our number one rival, Gallen!” He reminded him. “I don't know what’s got into her! And Ada told me that the boss, Bowie Lam is interested in Flora.”
“Is that so?” His attitude was cold.
“Hey, what’s got into you, buddy? Someone is eyeing your wife for heaven’s sake!” He cries out.
“What can I do now? She don’t even remember me, she don’t even want to see me!” He heaved a helpless sigh.
“So you are really going to divorce her?”
“Of course not!” he sits up. “I will never divorce her. Never!” Gallen almost shouted, but the cracking of his heart triumphed over his voice.
“But she is adamant.” Moses revealed helplessly.
“She could apply for a one-side divorce but I’ll never sign the papers! At least I’ll still have a year before we are officially divorced. I’m sure heaven won’t fail a devoted lover!” He wasn’t sure whether it was his heartfelt words or just words of consolation, he is too tired to distinguish between the two. Everything seems to happen in an astonishingly pace, dramatically.
“What do you plan to do? Pester her?”
“Fight for love!” He looked up and remarked.

It was the first day of Flora’s work in HT, and Bowie offered to treat her to dinner. After dinner Bowie went to get his car while Flora waited on the other side of the road. Out of a sudden she was startled by a shout behind her.
Before she could even react she was pulled back a meter by strong and seemingly familiar arms. She turned around and looked at the man.
“Are you ok? Why are you so absent-minded? The car could have run you down, again!” The man said in a concern tone.
“You were following me?” She probed.
“Yes, I was. I’ve never gave up. I’m sure you’ll remember me, you’ll remember everything about us one day!” He looked deeply into her eyes, while she diverted her vision.
“Flora!” Bowie called out while he parked his vehicle in front of them. “Hi, Gallen. What a coincidence! How have you been? We’ve never caught up for a long time!” He tried to be friendly.
“We’ll arrange a date for a couple of drinks then!” He forces a smile, while Flora gets into his car.
“Sure!” He nods his head. “Keep in touch, bye!”
“Bye.”
He drove off. Gallen stared at Flora until she was out of sight, completely out of sight. But there was something he was sure, she would never be out of his mind, never ever…

“What are you thinking of? Gallen?” Bowie turned over to ask Flora when the traffic lights turned red.
“Why do you ask?” She turned her head to face him.
“Out of curiosity.” He pauses. “You haven’t answered me!”
“I was just wondering how close we were in the past, just now when he pulled me away from the moving vehicle I had a familiar feeling. A very warm feeling.”
“Then are you thinking of a reconciliation?” He tried to be subtle.
“Nope. We are signing the papers next Monday.”
“No regrets or whatsoever?”
“I could see he’s a nice guy, but I don't know why I seem to develop a level of resistance against him. Whenever I’m alone with him, I feel uneasy and unsure of myself.” She stared into the air.
“Unsure?”
“Unsure of my feelings towards him.” She supplemented. “I don't know what kind of feeling that is, but it’s like… I can’t be myself in front of him, it sounds weird, but that’s what I feel!
“Actually…” He hesitates.
“Actually what?” She turned and waited for her answer.
“Actually, do I stand a chance at all?” He bared his heart frankly.
“You can take a chance if you play ‘Monopoly’.” She rolls her eyes.
“I’m serious here.” He pulled over the car to the shoulder.
“Are you trying to scare me away on the first day of my work?” She smiled slightly.
“ I guess I’m a bit impatient here, but I just want to let you know about my feelings towards you. I believe that fate plays an important role in arranging our meeting.” He spoke frankly.
“You don’t look like those superstitious types.”
“Feelings are often indescribable, intangible, amazing and ambiguous. Yet they reflect the innermost conscious state of human.” He spoke intermittently.
“That’s quite a philosophy.” She utters a soft chuckle.
“It’s psychology.” He smiled, and continued. “Bowie’s psychology.”

From the expression on Flora’s face, the little movements she made, Gallen could tell that she was truly entertained by Bowie. He diverted his attention from his left back to the front, and tried to concentrate on his driving. She didn’t see him, how he wish the one is the car wasn’t Bowie, but him. He drove home without further delay. He knew he needed a place to seek solace, desperately.

The clock struck twelve. Gallen lay back on his sofa, putting down the financial reports he had been going through for the past 2 hours or so. He couldn’t concentrate. His mind was saturated with Flora. He tried to immerse himself in work, but it didn’t seem to work. Sweeping his vision across the TV rack, something caught his attention. He walked a few steps to fetch the tape and tucks it into the player, it played…

Lou Gong, stop filming and come and give me a hand with this!” Flora pouted and put her hands on her hips. She looked really adorable when she’s angry, just like a little unruly princess as her brother described. Gallen put down his video cam without switching it off and went up to her.
“Are you sure you know how to bake a cake, dear?” Gallen knitted his eyebrows.
“Have you no confidence in me at all?” She pouted again.
He wraps his hands around her slender waist and buries his head into her silky hair. “Of course I do!” He uttered.
“Could you sieve the flour for me please?” She entreated, fidgeting to shake him off.
He held her tighter and closed his eyes. “I have confidence in you, so you should be able to handle it yourself.”
“How can I move about with a huge grey bear clinging on me?” She jeered jokingly.
He opened his eyes and tried to tickle her while she attacked him with the flour in defense. Their little game messed up the kitchen.
“Look at what you have done!” She stared at him pouting.
“Hey, you started it first!” He rebuked.
“No cake for you, just too bad!” She shrugs her shoulder slightly.
“But I think I’ll have my fill soon!” He leaned forward and pulled her closer to him, securing her lips with his, his hands wandering up and down…

He switched it off, and lay aimlessly on the sofa. The huge house of theirs seems exceptionally quiet at the moment, eerily quiet in the middle of the night, without its mistress. His eyelids felt heavy, but he struggled to make a wish before he enters dreamland. He wished they could be as loving as before, in his dreams…
