Jessica stepped into the restaurant they have arranged to meet fully prepared and was soon spotted by Louis.
Waving his hands, Louis calls out slightly. “Hello, Jess! Over here!”
She walked towards him smilingly but was wondering why he was alone. Where is Maggie? In the washroom?
“Hi, sorry I’m a bit late.” She sat down and placed her handbag on her laps. “Where is Maggie?”
“She’ll not be here, there was a last minute call by our boss.” He explained. “But it’s ok, you can talk to her representative.” He flashes a charming smile.
“Emmm… is the boss her boyfriend? She needs to go so urgently…” She tried to sound him out.
“She wishes so!” He chuckled. “But why do you ask?”
“Huh? Just a wild guess.” She continued. “Why did you say ‘She wishes so’?”
“She’s actually secretively in love with our boss… For 2 years!”
“Huh? Really? Does he knows about it?” She inquired anxiously.
Louis eyed her instinctively. “Why are you so concerned over her affairs?”
“I’m just being curious here.” She pauses and looks up. “You haven’t answered me!”
“Well… he doesn’t.” Heaving a sigh, he holds up his glass and took a sip. “I think he has a target now…”
“Flora?” She thought. “Must be!”
“Jess?” He called out.
“Yes?” She snaps out.
“Why are you in a daze?” He stared innocently at her.
“Nope… just thinking about some things…” She continued. “Why aren’t you giving her a hand since you’re cousins?” She eyed him.
“Great minds think alike!” He snapped his fingers, smiling.
“So, what plans do you have to help her, actually?” She sounded him again.
“I’ll go after the boss’s target!” He smiled.
“Huh? How could you?” She almost blurted out accidentally.
“Why couldn’t I?” He looked at her waiting anxiously for an answer.
“Emmm… I mean… he is your boss… how could you offend him? Aren’t you afraid of losing your job? The economy isn’t doing that well…” Jessica almost stammered.
“Why are you so concerned about me?” He stared right into her eyes.
Blushing a bit, she lowers her head and said. “I’m just giving my two cents’ worth here, you can ignore me…”
“I know I may be offending Bowie by doing so, but I need to help my dear cousin…” He explained. “Say no more, you must be famished after these gossiping… Let’s order our food first!” He raises his hand and sends a signal to the waiter nearby.
“Here’s the blouse to compensate Maggie, before I forget…” She tucks him a bag politely. “Please pass it to her for me, thank you!”
“Sure!” He flashes his killing smile again, while she smiled in return politely.

Jessica met up with Ada and Moses the next day to inform them about her meeting with Louis and their conversation.
“Aren’t things getting messy here? Another suitor after my sister?” Moses shook his head.
“I think that Louis just want to help his cousin…” Jessica explained.
“That’s even worst! You mean he is going to toy with Flora’s feelings?” Moses sat up.
“Hey! Can you have some confidence in your sister? What makes you think he will succeed? Even Gallen had a hard time with it…” Ada objected.
“So long as that Bowie Lam doesn’t get Flora, Gallen stands a chance!” Jessica voiced her opinion frankly.
“Then what about that Louis?” Moses looked at her squarely.
“I have my ways!” She replied confidently.
“I agree… that Bowie Lam doesn’t look like a simpleton to me… if Flora falls for him, I can’t imagine what will happen…” Ada went deep in her thoughts, pondering about her first meeting with Bowie.

For weeks Gallen continued to shadow Flora wherever and whenever it’s possible. Seeing Flora and Bowie getting closer and closer had more or less weakened his little pride and confidence of fulfilling his wish. He still has 10 months, 1 week and 3 days to win her back, before they are officially divorced, but the future seems bleak to him. It saddened everyone around him to see him losing the confidence and decisiveness he used to possess.
On one fateful day, Moses and Jessica entered his office and tried to encourage him again, for the 20th time.
“Gallen, why not we go karaoke tonight? My treat!” Moses put on a bright smile.
He shook his head, forcing a smile. “You all go ahead, I’m not free tonight. But you can pass me the bill later.”
“What are you busy with? Tailing Flora again? Aren’t you sick of it?” Jessica expressed her disagreement frankly. He kept quiet, while she continued after taking a deep breath. “Ok, now if I say I have a plan to help you, will you stop your silly tailing nonsense?”
“Plan? What do you mean?” Gallen raised his head and looked up to her.
“I have a friend working in HT, and he’s a friend of Bowie Lam’s.”
“And how can your friend help?” He asked curiously.
“He’ll go after Flora…”
“What?” He let out a short gasp. “And that is called ‘help’?”
“Nope, listen to me…” Jessica explained her plan slowly and clearly to him.
“How can you come up with such a plan? I don’t want to hurt Flora, please Jess… just stay out of my affairs!” He flashes a serious look on his face.
“Gallen!” Moses raised his voice slightly. “Now we are just concerned about you, can you please don’t behave as if the whole world owes you a debt? And Jess just meant to help, you have absolutely no right to treat her like this! Because of you, she had sacrificed so much of her personal time to do those silly things for you… and she…”
“Moses!” She interjected, and turned to look at Gallen. “We are showing our concern because we truly treat you as our friend. If you refuse to accept our help it’s ok. But I just want to tell you we are really upset to see you behaving like this.”
Moses continued. “Gallen, I know you love Flora very much, but there are many things in this world that are really fated. If you two were really meant to be, you will get back together somehow, but now you are throwing yourself into despair, hurting yourself, as well as hurting the feelings of friends like us around you.”
“What if I don’t believe in fate and destiny?” Gallen spoke stubbornly.
“Aren’t you being too silly just following her without showing yourself? What’s the use of doing so? Perhaps you can start it over as friends.” Jessica suggested.
“What if I scare her off? I did and she left the company!”
“Since when have you become so timid, Gallen?” Moses almost laughed.
“Just put it a bit more patient and don’t tail her again like a leech, please!” Jessica loosened up.
Gallen lets out a sigh of relief. “Actually I’m really fortunate to have great friends like you two!”
“Didn’t you realize that a bit too late?” Moses gave him a hard pat on the shoulder.
Gallen chuckled. “Sorry… But you must help me, buddy!”
“And since when have I stopped helping you?” Moses replied. “I’ll ask Ada to help, don’t worry too much! But before that, you must promise me a reborn Gallen that is just like before, my dear brother-in-law!”
“Reborn?” Gallen chuckled. “Thanks, Moses!” He spoke sincerely.
“So you can accompany us to karaoke tonight? Your treat!” Jessica threw a glance at Gallen.
“Didn’t Moses say it’s his treat?” Gallen rebuked.
“Yup, but the bill is yours!” Moses looked innocently at him.
Gallen put on his most charming smile and nodded. “If you insist!”
Moses and Jessica looked at each other in relief.
