Chapter 27

A Lasting Friendship

"Noooooo!!!!!!" Raymond and Frankie screamed.

Raymond ran as fast as he could to the edge of the tall building. He grabbed Michelle's hand just in time. Rain clung onto Michelle's leg.

"Rain! Michelle!" Raymond's face grew hot red because of all the weight he was holding with one arm. "Don't let go!!!"

Rain calmly looked up at Raymond. "I don't deserve to live."

The polices from the streets looked up, and saw two bodies dangling from the edge of the building. They quickly ran up to the building.

Frankie quickly ran to Raymond's side, clutching his left are. "Michelle!" He showed her his other uninjured arm. "Gimme your hand!"

Michelle grabbed his hand with pain. Raymond and Frankie tried to pull Michelle and Rain up. "Stop!" Rain screamed. Raymond looked at Rain. "Raymond..." Rain said tearfully. "I don't deserve to live. Let me die."

"No Rain! Hold on tight!" Frankie yelled. Raymond was out of words, speechless.

"Good bye," Rain said her last words, cried her last tears.

"NOOO!" Michelle and Frankie yelled.

Raymond's tear dropped on Rain's wet cheek. "No..." He shook his head.

Rain yelled at Raymond, at Frankie, at Michelle. And released Michelle's leg.

He lost a friend. He lost Rain.

Raymond sat by the edge of the pier, drinking. He stared at the beautiful scenery of the sea, tears forming on his eyes. Yes, he and Rain did break up, but deep inside, he still loves Rain very much. He miss her.

Frankie appeared on the far side of the pier. He looked over at Raymond sadly. He really does not want to see him so depressed. So he walked up to him. He put his hand on Raymond's shoulder. "Sad?"

Raymond continued drinking. Frankie sighed and sat beside him. He stared at the sea. "I know how you feel. You think Rain's death is your fault."

Raymond threw his bottle in the sea. "It is my fault!" He shouted desperately. "If it wasn't for me... if I didn't break up with Rain... she probably won't be like this! She probably won't die!"

Frankie shook his head. "It's not... it's not your fault Raymond!" He sat closer to Raymond. "It's not your fault Rain died! She is the one who chose this path!"

"Still!" Raymond shouted and looked down.

Frankie looked into the sky. He put his hand around Raymond's shoulder again. "Michelle," He whispered softly.

Raymond looked up. He glanced at Frankie. "What?"

"She's leaving."

Raymond widened his eyes and stood up straight. "What? Michelle's leaving? Why?"

* * *

Michelle walked through a hallway of chairs and sat on a chair closest to the airplane window. She sat comfortably on it. She looked at the window sadly.

* * *

Raymond sprinted at full speed to the airport. Michelle is leaving him. First Rain, and now Michelle. What's going on? He ran through the streets of Hong Kong, through the park, and the streets again.

~Flashback (Frankie's Voice)~

"Michelle said that she want's to leave Hong Kong."

~Flash~

"She's mad at you for not telling the truth to her. You said that you and Rain didn't break up, but it turned out you did."

~Flash~

"She thinks Rain's death is all her fault. She wants to start a new life."

~Flash~

"She's living Raymond! Chase her! She's still in the airport right now! Stop her from leaving, before it's too late!"

~End of Flashback~

Raymond ran faster. He's close. Very close.

* * *

Michelle closed her eyes. She'll miss Raymond. She really will. But she has to leave. She does not want to face Raymond ever again. A tear dropped down her cheek.

~Flashback~

"Why do you have to leave Michelle?" Frankie walked closer to her.

"Because I don't want to see Raymond again," Michelle whispered.

"But..."

"I still can't believe he lied to me!" Michelle shouted. Frankie looked down. "He lied to me that he didn't break up with Rain but... now! Look what's happening!" Michelle's eyes were watering.

Frankie didn't know what to do, but to pull Michelle in a warm embrace. "Michelle..."

"It's my fault that Rain died! ... I shouldn't even aske Raymond about Rain! ... I'm the one who deserves to die...!"

"It's okay Michelle..."

Michelle pulled Frankie away. "Sorry... you shoulder... it's all wet," Michelle giggled softly.

Frankie smiled, "It's okay."

Michelle hicupped. She wiped the tears away from her eyes. "Sorry Frankie."

Frankie looked up at the ceiling. "Oh. You mean... that..." He looked down. "I mean, I'm the one who should way sorry. I shouldn't have..."

Michelle did not want Frankie to go on. She touched his lips. "Please. Don't continue."

Frankie nodded. Michelle smiled and headed to the door. As she opened the door, she faced Frankie, "Please don't tell Raymond this."

Frankie looked away at her. He does not want to answer her. He wants to tell Raymond about this, but that will also make Michelle sad. Michelle smiled and said, "Thank you," and closed the door.

~End of Flashback~

Michelle burst into tears. Flashbacks of her and Raymond are zooming across her head. She really wanted it to stop, but she couldn't, she couldn't. She really loves Raymond.

* * *

He is there. Raymond has reached the aiport. He smiled. He was happy.... but too late.

He saw an airplane slowly rising from the surface. He stared at it. A feeling hit him. He's too late. She has left. He's too late. A fat tear dropped from his eyes. He watched the plane heading toward the sky. She's going away... forever.

~The End~
