"Really Michelle. Thank you," Rain said that again and again.

"I know Rain, you said that a million times," Michelle said, getting annoyed by Rain by the minute.

"Michelle-"

"Rain," Raymond interrupted, "Michelle knows."

"Okay," Rain said in a quiet voice.

"Man, why does Rain always listen to you?" Frankie said.

Raymond put an arm across Rain's shoulder, "It's because we're best friends," he sqeezed her shoulder. Rain blushed furiously.

"Aww look at Rain," Frankie smiled, "she's blushing."

"No I'm not," she blushed more.

"Then that means... you like Raymond!" Frankie chanted happily.

"No I don't!" She chased Frankie around the park.

"Come on Frankie! Rain wouldn't like Raymond!" Michelle shouted at him angrily.

"No. I think she does," Raymond said. Michelle looked at Raymond, " 'cause I like her too."

"You do?" Michelle whispered in a hurt voice.

Raymond looked at Michelle. Why is she saying this? Raymond thought, and said "Michelle, I'm kidding," he said in a mocking sort of voice.

Michelle smiled brightly.

* * *

"Where is Michelle and Frankie?" Raymond said impatiently to Rain, they were by Raymond's car in the parking lot, "We're supposed to be eating lunch together."

"I don't know," Rain looked at her watch, "it's one o'clock too!"

"Man they are busted!" Raymond half shouted. He was very angry, and hungry.

A man walked pass them eating a big, fat, juicy hamburger. Raymond stared at it hungrily, drool dripping down his mouth. If he could just reach it, he can...

"Groool," Raymond broke his trance and looked at Rain.

"What was that?"

Rain blushed, "It was umm... my stomach. Can we eat now? I'm really hungry. They are probably not coming. Let's get in the car...."

"No. They never been this late before, well, except Frankie," he added as an afterthought, remembering the time when him, Michelle and Joyce were waiting for Frankie for hours and hours at the airport. Then he remembered his dad, how he suffered from he sickness he had. At first, he thought, waiting fo Frankie at the airport for him to show up was a complete waste of time. But after he met his dying father, a father he never knew, seen or spoken before, he thought that it was worth it.

"Rrring!" Raymond's cell phone rang.

"It must be them!" Rain said excitedly.

"Yeah," He held his phone toward his ears, "What's up?"

"Michelle," Michelle's voice was heard in the phone.

"And why are you late?" Raymond said sarcastically.

"Thanks to Frankie! If it wasn't for him, talking to me in class, I wouldn't be held in after class!"

"Hey!" Raymond could hear Frankie speak to Michelle in the phone, "you were just stupid enough to answer me when I talked to you!"

"You-"

"SILENCE!" A woman shouted in the phone. Raymond held his phone a foot away from his ear.

"What is it?" Rain asked curiously.

"Michelle said that they got held back in class because they were talking," Raymond said. He held his phone back by his ears, "Michelle? Then will you eat lunch with us? Michelle? Hells. Michelle? Hello?! Hello?! Hello?!" Raymond turned the phone off, "the line got dead."

"So, what ate we going to do?" Rain asked.

"I guess, we have to eat lunch without them."

Rain turned her back toward Raymond, "Yes!" She punched a fist in the air. She looked like she wanted this to happen for a long time.

"So do you want to eat with me?" Raymond looked clueless, "Because if you don't wanna..."

Are you kidding?! I will love to eat lunch with you!" Rain said happily.

Raymond smiled, "Then lets hop in,"

They hopped in the car. Raymond drove freely, humming a tune that was stuck in his head. Rain stared at him dreamily. When Raymond looked at her way, she will look somewhere else.

"Lets hear some music," she said all of a sudden.

She turned on the radio. "I feel I..." the radio sang. (The song was in Chinese of course.) Rain nodded her head, clapping her hands with the rhythm.

"You like Aaron Kwok too?" Raymond asked.

"Huh? Oh yeah! I absolutely love him!"

"Yeah, me too. And you know what?"

"What?"

"We were in the v=car for so long and we didn't even decide where to eat lunch yet!"

"Oh yeah. Up to you," Rain said an began to clap her lap with the rhythm.

"Alright then. But you might not like it."

"Doesn't matter," Rain said cheerfully. "as long I'm with you, of course it doesn't matter," she added in a whisper.

"Sorry?"

"No-nothing."

Raymond drove past this really crowdy building. He could see the sign on top of a rusty old door. The sign said Hot Hot Bar.

Hot Hot Bat? Raymond thought. That was the pub where dad and that girl...

Raymond parallel parked right in front of the pub.

"Why are we parked here?" Rain asked as Raymond and herself got out of the car.

"We're eating here," he pointed at the pub's sign, "I heard that they have good food there."

Rain went to Raymond's side, and looked up at the rusty sign, "Here? Are you sure?"

Raymond nooded, "Why? You don't like this place?"

"No. Well... yes. I-I heard that they have a lot of "chickens" and "ducks" there."

Raymond laughed. "Chickens and ducks? Ha! You are afraid of them?" Raymond laughed more.

"I'm not afraid of them, they're just really annoying," Rain said quietly as a "chicken" or "chick" came toward them. The girl went up to Raymond, blinking her eyes with her long eyebrows furiously. Raymond smiled. Rain pulled Raymond away from her and looked at the girl furiously. She yapped a hand at them and walked away. A "duck" went toward Rain. He waved a hand at Rain. Raymond pulled Rain behind him.

The man looked at Raymond, "Yours?" He said in a raspy voice. Raymond nodded. "Don't worry," he looked at Rain's chest. She covered it with her arms, "I won't take your chick," and walked away.

"See what I mean?" Rain said a few moments later after their encounter with the "duck".

"That's exactly why I want to eat here," Raymond said. Rain's jaw dropped. "Come on," he took her arm and pulled her to the pub's entrance.

"How many?" The hostess asked.

Raymond raised two fingers, "Two."

The hostess grabbed two menus from the box next to her and said, "Follow me," to Raymond and Rain.

She led them through the cramped pub. The pub was filled with the disgusting air of people smoking. Rain held her breath.

"Here are your seats," the hostess stopped in this circular room with many round tables, their table table was in the middle of the room. she set the menus on the table, "The waiter or waitress will be with you shortly."

"Thank you," Raymond said politely.

"You're welcome," she walked away.

Raymond took the menu and opened it, his eyes going up and down while he read. Rain followed suit.

"What do you want to eat?" He finally said.

"Ohh..." Rain was looking at the "chicken" at the next table uncomfortably. She looked back at Raymond, "Anything."

"Okay. Waiter!" He raised his hand and snapped his fingers.

A waiter came, "Yes wir, and what fo you want?"

"I would want a lunch special, also my friend here. Oh yeah, and give us a big bottle of coke with two empty glass cups with ice."

"Why not beer?" The waiter asked.

Raymond looked at Rain and looked back at the waiter, "No thank you. Just coke."

"And that will be all?"

"Yes."

Thank you," he walked away toward the kitchen.

Rain sat up on her chair, looking very uneasy. Raymond stared at her, "What? Never been in a pub before?"

Rain shook her head, "Have you?"

"Many times with Michelle and Frankie."

"Oh," there was this "chicken" walking around the tables where all the men were sitting. Rain was watching her. Don't come here. Please don't come here, she thought. Too late! The girl was already sitting on Raymond's lap.

"Hi cutie," she said.

Raymond smiled. Rain's face grew hot. How can he smile? She thought.

"Since it's you, cutie," she laid her head on his shoulder, "you don't nee to pay me."

Raymond looked away impatiently. The girl was about ot kiss Raymond's lips when Rain said all fo a sudden, "He's mine."

She looked at Rain and looked back at Raymond, "I'll give you a one-hundred for you to sleep with-"

"Two-hundred."

"Three-hundred."

"Five-hundred."

"Six-hundred."

"Eight-hundred."

"Nine-hundred."

"One-thousand!" Rain yelled.

"One-" she looked at Rain.

"Two-thousand!" Rain shouted.

"Damn girl," she said an walked away.

"Rain," Raymond finally said, "why are you so mad?"

"That lady! On your lap! And you didn't do anything about it!"

"I was about to-"

"Why didn't you do that earliar then?" rain was burnt with jealousy. This was the first time she hand ever been this jealous.

The waiter came and set two plates of some beef, chicken, fries, and a hambuger and a big bottle with two glass cups of ice.

"Lets eat!" Raymond said joyfully and began eating childly. He seemed to forgot what had happened.

Rain looked at him and smiled, "You look lik a child."

Raymond smiled, "Eat."

They both ate happily. they talked about everything: movies, cars, celebrities, esc. Raymond talked about his dad, how he died and how his mom lied to him about his dad being dead. Rain talked about how poor her family was and how many part time jobs she needed to take for money in order for her to go to University. she also mentioned about the pen Louis stole from her. It was actually a gift from her great grandmother. Then it was given to her grandmother and then her mother, and now, Rain.

"The pen was really expensive," Rain ezplained, "and very rare too."

Then she talked about her family. She has no siblings. Her mother works at a supermarket.

"How about your dad?" Raymond asked curiously.

"Um," Rain looked down, "I never seen my dad before."

"Oh," Raymond said, "so you don't know anything about your dad?" Rain nodded.

They both grabbed the soda bottle at the same time. As Raymond's hand touched "Rain's hand, a wonderful sensation filled his whole body. He looked into Rain's eyes. She's getting more beautiful by the minute, he thought. He lowered his head toward Rain's. He's closer, closer, closer....

"I nee to go to the reatroom," she said and went toward the lady's room.

Man, Raymond thought. I almost had it! He screened his hand over his face, sighing deeply.

"Raymond!" He turned around. It was Joyce calling his name. She waved a hand Raymond sighed more deeply.

In the restroom, Rain was looking at her reflection in the mirror. She was thinking about how Raymond almost kissed her.... But she was too shy for him to kiss her. She looked at her hand Raymond touched, and smiled.

"Raymond!" Joyce ran to him and hugged him, "Mom! Come here!"

A fat lady, probably around her fifty's, came. She had a really nice smile on her face, "Joyce? What?"

"This is my boyfriend, Raymond Lam."
