Raymond stared at her. Joyce looked at him and turned him around, so both of their backs are facing Joyce's mother.
"What are you doing?" Raymond whispered.
"My mom always wanted me to have a boyfriend," Joyce said, "so you're going to be my boyfriend for a little while."
"Why me?" Raymond asked.
"You're the only one that fits Mom's description of a good boyfriend. So, can you help me?"
"Why should I help you?" Raymond whispered, "But I'm a nice guy."
They turned around. Joyce's mother went up to Raymond and patted his shoulder. "So you're the boyfriend my daughter's been talking about," She squeezed his shoulder, hard.
"Oww!" Raymond yelled.
"Sorry, did I hurt you?"
"No," he massaged the spot Joyce's mom squeezed, "It doesn't hurt Mrs.... um...."
"Chen. Call me Mrs. Chen, Ms. Sit, or Nancy, but since you are Joyce's boyfriend, just call me Nancy."
"Okay, uhh... Nancy."
"Nice boyfriend you got there Joyce," she smiled.
"Hehe," Joyce tried to smile.
Rain came out of the restroom and saw that Raymond was with Joyce (she met Joyce a little after she met her new friends) and some other fat lady. She smiled and walked up to them. "Hi Joyce," she said cheerfully, "and you are..."
"I'm Joyce's mom. You can call me Nancy, Mrs. Chen, or Ms. Sit!"
"Hi Nancy! I'm Rain!"
"Hi Rain!" She turned to Raymond and said, "Sit," they all sat down. Rain was about to sit next to Raymond, but Joyce took it. She was about to sit on the other chair beside Raymond, but Nancy took it. Disappointed, she took the chair across Raymond.
"So," Nancy began, "how does ot feel like to be Joyce's boyfriend?"
Raymond dropped the glass cup he was drinking out of onto the floor with a shatter.
"Are you okay?" Joyce and Nancy said.
Raymond looked up at Rain. Rain seemed to br staring back at him.
"Boyfriend?" She whispered quietly, but Raymond could still hear her.
"Rain, I-"
she stood up, "I didn't know you were Joyce's boyfriend," she said disappointedly, "Bye then," and she headed toward the pub's door.
"Rain!" Raymond stood up, "Rain!"
"What's going on?" Joyce asked.
Raymond didn't answer her. He just looked after Rain. How can I explain this to her? He thought.

"Raymond!" Michelle went through Raymond's bedroom door at his apartment. "I'm so sorry for what had happened this afternoon!"
"It's okay."
No it isn't," she sat next to Raymond on the bed. "I heard about you being Joyce's boyfriend," Raymond looked at her, "it's not true, is it?"
Raymond looked at his desk and back to her, "Who told you this?"
"Rain," Michelle looked really disappointed all of a sudden, "she was really sad, but I know it's not true!"
"It is true, Joyce forced me to be her boyfriend 'cause of her mom.... Is Rain all right?"
Michelle's face started to turn red, "Why would you want to know?" Raymond looked at her with pleading eyes, "She's doing fine," Raymond sighed, "Why do you care about her so much?" Michelle finally asked Raymond the question she wanted to ask him all a long.
Raymond's face blushed a little, Michelle can see it even if Raymond has very tan skin, "Because she's my friend," Michelle does not look happy.

"Hey," Frankie walked up to Raymond.
"Hi Frankie."
"What are you thinking about?" Frankie said as Raymond and Frankie looked at the beautiful ocean.
"I'm just thinking about Ra-, well something."
"I know what you are thinking about. You're thinking being Joyce's fake boyfriend AND Rain."
"I- how did you know?" He looked at Frankie.
"It's simple isn't it?! It is really obvious that Rain likes you! And you like her!"
"How do you know I like Rain?"
"It's just a wild guess."
"Then how did you know about me being Joyce's 'boyfriend'?"
"Michelle told me."
"That Michelle," he looked back at the ocean. They did not talk for quite a while.
"So how are you going to tell Rain?" Frankie suddnly said.
"What do you mean?"
"Rain thinks you are really Joyce's boyfriend. How are you going to explain this to her?"
"I don't know."
"Raymond!" He turned around, hoping it will be Rain, but to his disappointment, it was Joyce.
"Hi," Raymond said in a boring voice.
Joyce came toward them, "Sorry about... you know... being my boyfriend."
What? Joyce? Apoligizing? Raymond thought. "It's nothing."
"My mom really wanted me to have a boyfriend. I don't want her to keep on bragging me to get a boyfriend. She said the earlier I have a person to be with me for the rest of my life, the better, so I though of you in my head so... hehe."
"I understand."
"I can tell Rain likes you very much, so you got to explain everything to her."
"I know."
