It has been two weeks and Charlene was still on the run, running from town to town. She blamed her father for this. If he weren’t too controlling she wouldn’t take extreme measures. She had her three bodyguards chasing after her and they were always two minutes behind her. They were almost catching up to her.
She drove to Hong Kong. It was a big city where she was sure they wouldn’t find her. She parked her car outside a scrubby motel parking lot and climbed out slinging her bag on her shoulder. She sighed. This may not be a nice way to live but it was better than her other life.
She walked inside the motel and went straight to the reception.
‘Hi, how may I help you?’ an old man asked. He scratched his chest. The man smelt awful and Charlene was having hard time breathing.
‘Uh, hi,’ she said. She gave him a forced smile. ‘Can I have a room please?’
‘Cash or credit?’ he said.
‘Cash,’ she answered not liking it here one bit. His appearence was repulsive.
He didn’t say anything else. He just gave her a paper to sign her name. She dropped some bills on the desk and left with the room key.
As she was walking to the room a car pulled over. She didn’t first take much notice of it but when the doors opened and shut she couldn’t help but glance at her side. Her bodyguards were here! She made a dash for the street. Daniel and Leo ran after her while Mel was in the car driving slowly behind her.
Streets after streets they were running after her. She was getting exhausted. She needed to think up a plan. Fast! The streets were deserted because it was 6 am and everyone was probably asleep. She wouldn’t be able to lose them quickly. She saw a woman coming out of a limo that was parked outside a hotel as she turned the corner.
‘I’ll take five minutes,’ she heard the woman say to the limo driver. ‘Stay here.’ The limo driver closed the door and climbed inside the drivers' side. She didn’t have any choice. She jumped inside the limo when the woman was out of sight. To her horror she found herself seated next to a man. A gorgeous one she can drool over, she thought.
He was well dressed. His brown his was staring straight at her. She noticed a platinum diamond earing on his right ear. He had a stern look making him look like a guy you wouldn't want to mess with. She was in deep trouble, she thought unhappily. She looked down at his lips. Her mouth dried up. She licked her lips. Oh, if she could just touch them lips...
Her thoughts were cut short when in the corner of her eyes she saw her bodyguards just turned the corner and was heading down the street towards the limo.
‘Who are you?’ the man bellowed clearly not liking the fact that a stranger had just entered the limo.
Charlene hesitated to answer at first. She took few seconds to think up an excuse. ‘Who am I?’ she spat. ‘Who are you?’
The man looked at her appalled. ‘What do you mean? This is my limo!’ Then he added, ‘a private one too.’
‘Well, you’ve got the wrong limo,’ she argued.
‘Do you know who I am?’ he asked.
‘Sure,’ she replied. ‘A sexy guy.’
He was going to say something but he was a little amused about how up front she was. ‘No,’ he quickly said, amusement evaporating from his thought. ‘My name is Edison Chen,’ he said it as if everyone in the world knows him.
But she wasn’t listening to him. Her eyes were focused outside the window. Daniel was standing outside the limo just by the door. He flipped open his phone and dialed a number.
‘Hello, boss,’ he said over the phone. His voice was a little at the edge. ‘No… sorry… we were close by but she ran away… yes, boss. We won’t stop looking.’ He flipped the phone shut and gave the street once more glance. A car pulled over in front of the limo and he got in along with Leo who just came out of the building the woman had went in. The car drove away slowly probably still looking for her.
She let out a deep breath, she didn’t know she was holding.
‘Listen here, miss,’ Edison said getting irritated by her ignoring him. She turned to face his handsome face. ‘This is my limo and if you don’t go I’m afraid I will have to call the police.’ He got out his cell phone just to show how serious he was.
She thought it was safe now to leave the limo before they come back and she had a feeling that they would in case she comes back. ‘You don’t have to do that,’ she told him. He put the cell phone back in his pocket and stared at her. ‘I just found out that I don’t have a limo,’ she said.
He stared at her shocked at what she had just said. His jaws hung open. She found him cute with those kissable lips. She leaned forward and kissed him without thinking.
‘What the…?’ a voice shrieked.
Charlene jerked back. She turned to see the woman who had before left the limo. She was at first shocked. Now she was angry, glaring at her and giving her murderous look.
‘Oops!’ Charlene managed to say guiltily. She wasn’t expecting this. She scrambled out of the limo not before giving an apologizing smile to Edison who was frozen at the spot. ‘Nice meeting you,’ she whispered, gripping hold of her bag.
‘Who the hell are you?’ the woman screamed at her. ‘How dare you kiss my boyfriend!’
‘Gotta go,’ she told the furious woman. ‘By the way did you know he’s a great kisser?’
With that she made a run for it. She could here the woman’s screaming and shouting.
She couldn’t use the rental car any more. They probably are waiting for her at the motel. She had couple of hours until she was going to leave for the airport. She had a flight to attend.
