Chapter 9
Edison the Slob!
In August, it was Ruby's turn to leave home. She and Jimmy had to go to the city, to find Ruby an apartment, before school started. She had to stay with Jimmy at his apartment for now.
"Wow, you live like a pig, Jimmy. Look at this place," Ruby said as she entered his apartment. There were dirty clothes everywhere, dirty dishes piled in the sink, pizza boxes here and there.
"It's not me, I was at home with my parents all summer," explained Jimmy. "It's probably my roomate, Edison. Luckily I locked my room before I left. Ruby how about you stay in my room for awhile, while I clean up."
"Alright," she agreed. Jimmy unlocked the door, to his room. When Ruby saw it, she exclaimed, "Wow Jimmy your room looks so clean compared to out there."
Jimmy's room was very plain and simple. There was a double sized bed, a closet, desk and dresser. He had a boombox, a gameboy, and many books. He had pictures of his parents, of him and Ruby, a picture of him, Ruby and Vicki and a picture of him, Alec and another cute guy. He had a calander full of pictures of cars.
Ruby explored Jimmy's room in amzement. She asked pointing to the the picture, "Is this your roomate Edison?"
"Yup that's Edison the slob," replied Jimmy.
Jimmy then went outside to clean up. Ruby sat in his room. She decided to play his gameboy and listen to music. She sat on the big comfortable bed and played. Ruby soom got tired so fell asleep.
About an hour or two later Jimmy rentered finding Ruby fast asleep on his bed. He watched her sleep. She was so beautiful. Jimmy kissed her forehead and grabbed his gameboy and headed out to the living room. He too fell asleep on the couch.
At about 3 o'clock, someone entered Jimmy's apartment. He was fairly tall, and very cute. Let's just say he can take your breath away. As soon as he entered he exclaimed, "Oh no we've been robbed, and the thief... cleaned up the apartment?" He then noticed someone sleeping on the couch, it was Jimmy. "Jimmy, Jimmy," he called, "why aren't you sleeping in your room?"
"Because Ruby's sleeping, now leave me alone," Jimmy aswered still asleep.
Edison entered Jimmy's room and found Ruby sleeping on the bed, he took out a marker and started drawing on her face. He then went back out to the living room and started to do the same to Jimmy.
Soon Jimmy awoke finding Edison starring at him. Jimmy screamed, "What are you doing here?"
"I live here," Edison replied trying not to laugh.
Ruby soon came out of Jimmy's room half asleep asked, "What's going on?" She took a glance a Jimmy and started laughing.
Jimmy asks, "Ruby what are you laughing at? What's on your face?"
"Your face," she giggled.
"Why? What's on my face?" he asks.
"Marker," replied Ruby chuckling.
"Well same with you," Jimmy said as he began to laugh.
"What?" Ruby said worringly.
Now Edison was left laughing. Jimmy and Ruby looked at each other and chased after Edison. Jimmy held him down while Ruby drew on his face. Now all three of them looked like fools and laughing like idiots.
After everyone calmed down, Edison introduced himself to Ruby, "I'm Edison Chen."
"Oh you're the slob." said Ruby, "I'm Ruby, Jimmy's friend."
"I see Jimmy's been talking about me," chuckled Edison.
"Ruby's going to be staying with us until she finds an apartment," Jimmy explained.
"Oh, a girl moved in last month I hear she's looking for a roomate. I think her name is Gigi Lai," Edison replied.
"Oh really?" Ruby asked. "Jimmy, I didn't know Gigi lives next door. Why didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't know either," Jimmy answered.
"You guys know her?" Edison asked.
"Yup, we went to school together in elementary," Ruby explained. "Let's go see her now!"
"Ruby, I think we should wash our face first," Jimmy reminded.
They all took turns washing their face. When the were all done, they went next door and knocked on the door.
When the door opened a tall beautiful girl stood before them. "Yes, can I help you?" she asks.
"Gigi, is that you?" Ruby asks.
"Ruby? And..and Jimmy? Isit really you," Gigi exclaimed as she hugged her old friends. "What are you guys doing here?"
"Well I'm your next door neighbour, silly," Jimmy said.
"And I heard you were looking for a roomate," Ruby interrupted.
"And I'm here because they're here!" Edison exclaimed, not wanting to be left out.
"You're Edison right?" Gigi asks.
"Yup that's me," he exclaimed proudly.
The four chatted throughout the rest of the night. Edison and Gigi got along real well. It was agreed that Ruby will move in with Gigi that night. So while the girls chatted the guys had to bring all of Ruby's things over from Jimmy's apartment to Gigi's. They all helped set up Ruby's room nicely. They finished at about 9 o'clock. Gigi ordered pizza.
The guys left at about 11. Gigi and Ruby talked all night. At first Gigi thought Jimmy and Ruby were togther, but Ruby explained that they were just friends. She told Gigi what happened to Nicholas. They also gossiped about what happened during highschool.
Edison and Jimmy also talked that night. Edison also thought Ruby and Jimmy were together, but they weren't. Jimmy noticed that Edison seem really interested in Gigi, because all Edison talked about was Gigi this and Gigi that.
