Chapter 7

Awkwardness(YoungBae)

I have time to write in my journal right now because I’m at YG studio, and I decided to go check on the site. I don’t know what to say, really it’s pretty strange maybe it’s because my lack of computer time. I mean it’s hard for me to manage time to go online because basically I don’t have time. But when I do have time I end up going to YG Big Bang site or try to do something with my Cyworld or UFO. But I’m kind of shock how I update everything on those sites really fast but when it come to this journal I stumble. Hm…what should I talk about? I don’t want to talk about my career because that sure isn’t like anything um…..interesting well to me it doesn’t capture the attention. Ok I got it I should write about the first time I encounter DeDe and Pa. It’s a pretty funny story; I remember it like it was yesterday. I was with G-Dragon and we hang out at the studio when Danny and Teddy came back from LA. I thought it was the usual routine since the two hyungs live in LA they always travel there. But not this time, they brought two girls with them. I was confused because I didn’t know Teddy and Danny would bring their niece or someone from their families here plus I never saw them before. So being the person I am, GD and I walked up to them and say hi. This is what I say “Ann-yo’ngha-se-yo. Che irumun Dong YoungBae imnida”But all they did was stare at me all weird and whispering to each other. I felt kind of embarrass and thought they were talking about me.

I whisper to G-Dragon telling him that’s the reason why I don’t speak to girls. All G-Dragon did was stare at the girls and he then also introduce himself, this is what he say “Sup I’m Jiyong” Yah the boy always use slang. The girls smile and shake his hands. My reaction was like WTF is going on here. I went formal and did the whole introduction as a gentlemen and JiYong using slang gets a hand shake! Urgh! But before I ask them their name Danny and Teddy went back and pull the girls toward YG office. I wonder what was going on so GD and I sat there until they come out. OK so we’re nosey but we wanted to know it seem interesting. Teddy, Danny, and the girls finally left the room and the girls seem really shy and didn’t want to leave Teddy and Danny. Jiyong decided waiting won’t do any go good so he went up to Danny and Teddy to ask them. He then came back with a grin and I smack him to get to the point already. He told me that the girls were from LA and they don’t speak Korean at all. That shock me because I thought the girls knew at least some Korean I mean why, would they come to YG if they don’t speak any Korean.

JiYong then told me that Danny and Teddy told Mr. YG that the girls have potential and they should become interns. At that time I thought we only had trainees. I didn’t even know what intern was until Danny explain to me that it’s like a trainee but different. You don’t get train to be a star you get train to be a person behind the stars. But GD told me MR. YG allow them to stay. That shock me too MR. YG is someone who don’t just go around and except people. But it didn’t matter to me now. I mean if they got accepted I bet they had talent and they sure do. I saw the girls a couple more times. Since GD and I have nothing else to do but hang out in YG and train our butts off. It was awkward towards us because of the language barrier. The girls were always together and the people I see them with are Danny and Teddy. I swear I thought they had like a string attach to the hyungs that wouldn’t let go. I remember my first encounter with DeDe though. I felt bad for her because she was cleaning the dance floor after GD and I have our private dance practice. GD spill water on the floor and she had to clean it, I mean I remember cleaning the floor and I still do it’s not a great job. I left something behind in the room yeah it’s my precious hat. I mean my hat is like DeDe’s Nikes no one can touch it or like mess with it. Talking about DeDe’s Nikes and how much she hates people who touch them…..Great I know why she’s mad at me it’s because I step on her new shoes! Damn it! Sorry for that let’s get back to what I was explaining so I ran back when I accidentally hit DeDe and of course I was stupid enough to say sorry in Korean “Mianhamnida” but all she did was stare at me. I bow and ran back to get my hat.

Before I leave she gave me a smile and say “Na-Jung-e-bwae-yo.” She say see you later to me which shock me. I mean she has an accent but I understand her. I stand there and look at her with her ipod in her ears. Did I hear this right? The girl I thought was clueless knows how to speak Korean? I wanted to talk to her more but GD was waiting so I had to leave. Time went by and I turn 19, yet I still didn’t talk to the girls a lot. My English got a little better but I was too nervous to talk to them. GD and I went to school for Japanese and Chinese but we pick up some English since most of the hyungs can speak it. The girls seem quiet still, but there were more laughter between the two and I also saw them interacting with more people then just Danny and Teddy. They work well with the noonas and even Lexy liked them. What makes me feel weird was they never bother to talk to GD and I. Well not GD because I end up finding out GD had always talked to the girls. Most of all he shows off his slanging language. Then one day I was heading back to YG when I saw DeDe standing at a store. She seems confused and don’t know what to do so I decided to walk over.

The manager told me that he thinks DeDe was stealing a pair of Nikes. I look at her and she was mad and wow was she angry. I try to ask her what’s wrong but I didn’t know how to say that in English. She was saying these fast words all I heard was I and Don’t. She then took out a phone and text something. I look at it and it say “I didn’t steal it, I ask the manager what size he have and I stand over there and the thing went off” I was amaze at the phone it took her words and transform it to Korean. I just smile and told the manager, all he did was bow and say S-O-R-R-Y in a very slow manner. We walk back to YG and it was extremely quiet. It was cute though because DeDe told me this “No-Mu Kam-Sa-Ham-Ni-Da” which means “Thank you very much” it was funny because she had to read it from her phone. I just nodded my head and say “Your welcome.” Ok so that’s a phrase I can master but come on everyone have to know that phrase. Even though we have a language barrier we end up talking a lot. She taught me English and I taught her Korean. Not to mention that her Korean was bad, with out my help sometimes she misuse her Korean words which makes me laugh a lot. Like one time she wanted to invite us to go play badminton with her instead of saying “baedeuminteon” she say “bosu” which means bus. GD started to laugh and I was trying to hide in my laughter.

She got mad at us and storm out. I got worry about her since her Korean wasn’t that great, she can get into trouble so I ran after her. I found her at a bench and We had this system down that when we want to talk to each other we would type down the words on our phone and I type down “I’m sorry that I laugh” and she did this face on her phone. Yah we are weird but then again we did grow together. My English improve and I can get what she trying to say and her Korean got better too. I think it’s the classes and my help of course. Plus the other YG members and GD mom, oh wow I wrote like a long ass journal, time flies I can’t stay on long I’m going out with BIG BANG tonight. Since we are going to JAPAN soon I like to spend time in Korea and gasp the image. Oh yah and Aimee and Shaun are great, thanks for helping us. I know our TOUR going to be THE BOMB. See yah VIP!
