What does he meant by that? Who is he, how could he understand. No one could. I just want to be alone, die alone. Even a wish like that couldn’t be granted.
I got hold of his sleeves and look up at him with a face full with anger and wonder. It almost seems like he could read my mind. He slowly let go of me and look up at my teary face.
“You use to be stronger then this” Raymond said as his hand slowly wipe the tear of my face. “I know what you’ve been through, but remember life is still bright and you still got me”
I stared at him even deeper. The whole surrounding suddenly just when all silent and there’s nothing around this place beside him and me. How could this be? Is he my guardian angle? Are they real by they way. Just when I wanted to shut myself from this world, he has brought this world back to me. He told me to have hope, to not give up and be strong to enjoy what life would gives. But how could I?
“I really appreciate you kindness, but I think you are talking to the wrong person” I finally say.
“No I’m not, you are Michelle Yip right”
“You…You know me. Who are you?”
“I….I…I told you I’m Raymond Lam” He looked away sadly. It almost seems like he doesn’t want to be called that or doesn’t want to be him.
I try to say something to resolved this but he stopped me once more.
“You don’t have to worry about me, I’m fine.” Raymond tried to smile. The first smile that I’ve seen from him.
He spread out his hands in front of him and waited. I look at him front head to toe while he just stand there and wait. I’m not really sure for what. But it doesn’t matter, what I’m interests in right now is him and his past.
Slowly and gently a perfect shaped leaf landed on his right hand.
“See this leaf, it beautiful isn’t it.” He said sweetly putting the leaf in my hands. “It knows that one day it have to turned brown and die. That it’s destiny. But it still turned bright green to brighten this place in summer and turned luxurious red in autumn for us all to enjoy. It lives it short life to the max and it’s only a leaf. You are a human being, you should really live life to the max too. Don’t just give up because of some problems. You should be happy and you deserve to be” He looks up at me again with another smile and turns around to leave.
What kind of person is he, saying all those stuff then just leave?
“Wait” I cried after but he didn’t stop. All he did was turned around and winked at me and gave me one of those dreamy smiles of his.
I looked down to the ground feeling once again confused. Have I meet him somewhere that I didn’t remember.
“Raymond” I say out his name in deep thoughts. Just when something starts occurring back into my mind, a shiny figure next to me courted my attention. I picked it up and examined it. It’s a lady necklace with a shiny crystal in the middle. Raymond must have dropped it or something. I look at the thing more carefully. A strange feeling is building up inside me the more the touched the necklet. It almost seems like I’ve seen it before.
*Flash back*
“Mum… dad… Brother…” A girl streamed as she saw blood flowing out from her family body. She tried to go over to them but unable to. Her sleeve was courted back by the branches in the bush. She tried to pull herself away from it harder but couldn’t. She looked down and started to cry helplessly and there it is that necklet.
*End Flash Back*
I froze as the thought washed back. It was my necklace. I remember now, mother had given it to me as a Christmas present. But after that night 14 years ago I have never seen it again. How could it end up with Raymond? What does he have to do with my past?
