The scenery changed and now I was the one on the floor bleeding. Wylie hovered above me.
“Go to hell.” He said. The air around me started to flee away from me. I began gasping for air. Wylie laughed.
“Do you like it? I’m using my own wizard powers to suck the air away from you.”
I tried to say something but my throat burned. I couldn’t speak.
“I’m going to die.” I thought to myself.
My eyelids flew open. I was gasping. My hair, soaked with sweat. I sat up on my bed.
“What the hell?” I mumbled to myself. “Wylie, a wizard?”
I looked at the bed next to me. Yesung was still asleep.
I got off the bed, grabbed a black t-shirt and blue jeans and walked to the bathroom. I turned on the faucet and wash my face. I looked at the mirror when I took my shirt off. The cross necklace that Kyuhyun gave me was there. I changed my clothes and slipped my feet into my Nike sneakers.
A few minutes later, I walk out the door. I took the elevator down 3 floors to the main lobby.
“It must be early.” I thought to myself.
No one was around. The sun has just begun coming up. I sat on a couch in the lobby. I tilted my head back and closed my eyes.
“You’re up early.” came a voice.
I opened my eyes. It was Donghae.
“I couldn’t sleep. So I came down here.” I told him. “Why are you here?”
“I’m suppose to be looking after you. I saw you walking out of your room before.” He said.
“Whatever.”
“Sungmin.” came another voice.
I looked at the direction of the call. It was Kyuhyun. He was wearing a white shirt and blue jeans with a black leather jacket and he was also carrying a small backpack. I stood up.
“What?” I asked.
“Come outside with me. You can come too Donghae.” He motioned us.
Without a second thought, I followed him outside. And Donghae followed me.
We walked a couple of miles away from the school until we reached a grassy plain.
“Why are we here?” I asked him when we came to a stop.
“Your training begins today.” He started. I looked at him. “I’m going to teach you how to control your powers.” He continued.
“And how do you expect me to do that?” I asked.
“First, take off your necklace. And then we will start.” He said. I took off the necklace and power rushed to my hand. I held it back.
Kyuhyun opened his bag and took out a board.
“A dart board?” I asked. He placed it 10 feet away from me.
“Hit the middle without hitting the other areas of the board.” He said.
“That’s impossible for me.” I complained.
“Do it!” There was a strictness in his voice that made me jump a little. “Concentrate on your power and make it as narrow as possible.”
I stared at the board. The flames within me were uncontrollable. I concentrate, calming the flames inside. When I thought I was ready, I attacked the board without moving from the spot I stood at. The entire board burned.
“I can’t do this.” I said.
“You can. You just need to practice.” Kyuhyun said. “Here. Why don’t we let Donghae demonstrate for you?” He pointed at Donghae.
“Do I have to?” he asked.
“Yes you do.” replied Kyuhyun.
“Fine.” Donghae walked up to the spot where I was standing. I moved aside for Donghae.
Kyuhyun smiled and spoke. “Restituo.” He said. The ashes on the ground seemed to repair it self and in a few seconds, the board looked brand new.
“Your turn Donghae.” He said.
“I know.” Donghae stared at the board and a small strip of fire came out of him and hit the middle of the board.
“Very good Donghae.” said Kyuhyun. “Now you try it Sungmin.”
I tried a couple of times and I failed every time I did it. It was almost noon when Kyuhyun told me to take a break. I walked to a nearby rock and dropped myself down. My body ached. It felt like I was about to break into pieces. Donghae threw a water bottle at me and I drank it greedily.
“Your getting better.” He said.
“No I’m not.” I told him.
“You are. You’re starting to hit it closer to the middle. You just gotta try harder.” He said.
“I’ll try.”
A few minutes have pass and I finally stood up. I stood 10 feet away from the board. I breathed calmly. I felt relaxed.
“I can to do.” I told myself. I relaxed the power within. I looked straight at the board and sent out a small flame towards it, the same way Donghae did before. The small flame went flying through the air and hit the middle.
“YES!” I shouted.
“Very good Sungmin. You finally got it.” Kyuhyun gave me a pat on the back. “Now just keep practicing.”
I did the same thing over and over again.
“Okay. That’s enough.” Said Kyuhyun when the sun began to set. “I think its time we head back.”
We started packing the boards and headed back to the school.
“We’ll continue training tomorrow Sungmin around the same time as today.” Said Kyuhyun when we walked into the school.
“What are we going to do tomorrow?” I asked him.
“Tomorrow we will unlock your other powers and then control them.” He said.
“Other powers?”
“Yeah. A wizard has 4 elemental powers. You already have one, fire. You need to unlock your other 3.” He said.
“What are the other 3 powers?” I asked him.
“There is fire, wind also known as air, earth and lightning. You need to master those.” He looked at me. “You’re a fire user, meaning fire was the first power you unlocked. Donghae is a fire user too. You can both learn some moves together.”
“Really?” I looked at Donghae and he nodded at me. “Cool. What about you, Kyuhyun?”
“Me? I didn’t unlock my elemental powers first. I learned how to use spells and charms first.” He said. “Though, the first elemental power I’ve unlocked was earth.”
“Charms?” I asked. “You mean like before when you fixed the dart board everytime I’ve set it on fire?” He nodded.
“Cool.” We walk up to the school gate. Donghae open the gate and we walk onto the school’s campus.
“Do I still need to wear the necklace?” I said when we walked into the school lobby. The cross was in my hand.
“No. You don’t need it anymore. You can control your fire powers now.” He said.
I handed it to him. “I don’t really need it. You should keep it, just in case if it comes in handy. Now, hurry up and go to your rooms. You and Donghae worked hard today. You guys need to rest.” He motioned me and Donghae to the elevators.
“Okay. Good night Kyuhyun.” I said to him.
“Night.” He said, walking away.
“Lets go Donghae.”
“Okay.” He said, hitting the elevator button.
