“Are you feeling better?”
I open my eyes to see a figure sitting on a stool, facing me. At first, I couldn’t recognize who I was staring at. I focus my vision and Yesung appears before my eyes.
“Yesung?”
He stroke my hair. “Yeah. I’m right here.”
“Where am I?” I asked.
“You’re in the clinic’s room.”
I shifted to another position and laid on my back. My head throbbed in pain. I gripped onto my head.
“Are you okay?” He asked me.
“Not really. My head hurts and I feel so sore.” I closed my eyes and reopen them. “What happened? Why am I here?”
“You don’t remember?”
I propped up on my elbows. “No.”
Yesung let out a long sigh until he finally spoke. “The Dragons attacked you. Kyuhyun, Donghae and I managed to reach you in time before he killed you.”
I blinked. All of my memories of what happened came flooding into my mind.
“Oh God.” I said slowly.
I remembered everything. Wylie was leader of the Dragons and he attacked me when Donghae and Yesung went with Kyuhyun to carry some books. I tried to fight back but Wylie was stronger than me. Yesung, Donghae and Kyuhyun came back in time before Wylie did any real damage to me. Wylie threatened to kill Kyuhyun… Kyuhyun? Wylie called him something. A traitor?
I blinked. Wylie called Kyuhyun a traitor.
“Where’s Kyuhyun?” I asked.
Yesung stared at me. “Why?”
“Tell me.”
“I don’t know. He was here with Donghae about a day ago. I haven’t seen them since.” He said.
“A day? Wha…? How long have I’ve been out?” I asked.
“Almost 3 days.”
I was asleep for 3 days?
I swung my legs over the bed and stood up. The world around me swirled. Yesung caught me before I fell.
“Are you going to look for him?” He asked, arm over my shoulder.
I nodded. “I need to talk to him.” I gently push Yesung’s arm off my shoulder.
I stagger across the clinic’s room towards the door. Before I could turn the doorknob, the door swung opened.
I got startled and I was even more startled when I saw Donghae and Kyuhyun.
“Sungmin? You’re up so fast. How are you feeling?” asked Donghae.
“A little better.” My eyes trailed to Kyuhyun. “I need to talk to you.”
Kyuhyun stared at me. “Is it about what Wylie said the other day?”
I slowly nodded.
“I’ll tell you. But first you should get back in bed. You still need to rest,” stated Kyuhyun.
I turned around and sat down on my bed.
Yesung sat on the same stool. Donghae leaned against the wall and Kyuhyun sat on the bed, facing me.
It was quiet until I finally spoke.
“Why?” I started. “Why did Wylie call you a traitor?”
Kyuhyun locked his fingers together and stared at a spot between his feet. He took a deep sigh.
“I use to be part of the Dragons.”
I stared at him. He looked up and held my gaze.
“What?” said Yesung.
“I use to be part of the Dragons.” He repeated. “But that was almost 2 years ago. Wylie use to have me go around with him and his crew killing wizards. We raided homes and killed everyone in the house. Adults, the elderly, kids, babies, everyone.” He stopped, voice shaken.
“You can’t be serious…” I said. He nodded.
I imagined Kyuhyun and Wylie running around the street, breaking into homes and killing everyone. It was almost unimaginable. I shook the sight away.
“I was the strongest wizard amongst the Dragons therefore I was offered to be the leader once but I declined the invitation. So I decided to make Wylie the leader. He was second strongest. Me and him were almost like blood brothers. We got along together really well. But then one day when we were suppose to kill a royal wizard family, I couldn’t do it.”
“Why not?” I asked.
“I found Donghae there.” He looked towards him. “Donghae was part of a royal family. We killed everyone in the royal family. The only survivor was Donghae. I couldn’t kill him.”
Donghae shifted and sat down next to Kyuhyun.
“Donghae had up a strong barrier around him. Only because he was protecting his—“
“My little brother,” finished Donghae. Kyuhyun nodded. “My brother was born very ill. I had always taken care of him. That night when the Dragons invaded our house, me and my little brother went downstairs to the basement to hide. But Kyuhyun found us. I was going to kill him, even if it meant killing myself in the process—“
“I saw something in Donghae’s eyes,” interrupted Kyuhyun. “There was courage in his eyes. I knew he was serious when he said he was going to kill me. I looked behind him and his little brother was laying there. Something inside me began to flutter. I found myself standing in front of Donghae, begging for forgiveness.” He stopped and looked at me.
“I decided to let Donghae and his little brother live. The next day, I told the members of the Dragons that I was leaving. Everyone wanted to know why and I simply told them that I was going to protect the remaining wizards alive. Everyone grew furious and I just left. That was the end of my Dragons career.”
“What happened to Donghae’s little brother?” I asked.
“He died a week later,” said Donghae. “He died of shock.”
Silence fell upon us.
“So now Wylie is out to kill you.” I said, addressing it to Kyuhyun. “To take revenge on you for leaving?”
“I guess so.” He stood up and headed for the door. “Sungmin, you should rest. You are behind in your training. We’ll start your training again when you’re feeling better.” He started walking.
“I’ll be waiting.” I said. “Waiting to be trained by a member of the Dragons.”
Kyuhyun glanced back. “Then I won’t go easy on you.”
