I woke up staring at the white ceiling of my room. I shifted around in my bed, trying to find a comfortable spot to lie in. I moaned. It has been a week since the incident with the Dragons and the Byakkos and I have passed out when Wylie retreated. My body was completely healed but my muscles were healing a little slower than usually.
I swung my legs over the bed and looked at the bed in front of me. Apparently it looked like Yesung was already gone.
I got off my bed and headed towards the bathroom and found a yellow post-it sticking on the mirror. I grabbed it and examined the note.
“Gone with Donghae and Kyuhyun to the plains for training.” I read out loud. I placed the note down. I took a quick shower and left the room all clean.
I ran down three flights of stairs, taking two at a time, to get my heart pumping.
“I’ll jog to the plains.” I thought to myself.
As I left the main lobby and into the sunlight, Wylie and his members walked past me muttering some things. I stopped in my tracks. So did they.
“I’m glad you’re alive,” he whispered in my ear.
“Why’s that?” I laughed.
“So I can kill you.” He gripped onto my shoulder. A trickle of power flowed into me.
“Good luck with that.” I moved my shoulder so his hand dropped.
“Lets go Wylie,” came a feminine voice. I looked at the direction of the call. It was one of the Dragons’ members. I think her name was Leesha. Something like that.
“I’m coming, Leesha,” shouted Wylie and ran off. I watched them leave. When they were about to turn a corner, I caught Leesha turn around and our eyes met. She smiled at me and waved me off.
I continued on my jog. By the time I got to where I was going, sweat was climbing down my face. When I arrived, it looked like Yesung and Donghae were in the middle of a fierce battle. Kyuhyun wasn’t there.
Donghae threw flames at Yesung and Yesung blew them out with air before they reached him.
“Hey that’s not fair!” I heard Donghae shout.
Yesung smirked. “Fighting against wizards won’t always be fair.” He drew an arc with his hand and out came powerful storm winds. Donghae scrambled to the ground to dodge the attack. When the winds were dissipating, Donghae threw flames at Yesung quickly. Yesung jumped backwards and landed on his back.
“Gotcha,” laughed Donghae. Now Donghae was using earth element. When Yesung stood up, vines grew out of the grass and around his legs.
“Shit! I can’t move,” complained Yesung. He sent fire down to his legs and burned the vines. He wrung free and dashed towards Donghae.
“WAIT!!” shouted Donghae when Yesung was about to send him flying. He put his hands up. “Time out!”
Yesung stopped in his tracks.
“We got a visitor,” said Donghae, glancing over in my direction. Yesung followed my gaze.
“OHH! Sungmin. You're up.” He said, running towards me.
“Yeah.” I said, scratching the back on my neck.
“So…” Yesung nudged me. “Did you see me kick Donghae’s butt?”
“WHAT!” shouted Donghae. “You so did not win.”
“HA! You don’t have to deny it,” laughed Yesung.
The blood rushed to Donghae’s face. “Fine. Rematch tomorrow.”
“Your on,” accepted Yesung.
“What were you guys doing anyway?” I asked. Neither of them answered.
Suddenly, like a ghost, Kyuhyun appeared next to me.
“They were training.” He said. I jumped.
“Did you have to appear like that?” I said, placing my hand over my chest.
He chuckled. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to.” He looked at me. “Are you feeling better?”
“Of course. Why else would I be here?” I stared him in the eye. Kyuhyun seemed a lot paler today.
“Okay then. Lets begin your earth training.” He walked ahead and then stopped. “Donghae and Yesung will be your opponents.”
“What? I can’t fight them.” I told him.
“Do you want to master the earth element or not?” he asked, coldly.
I made a tsk sound. “Fine. Whatever.”
Kyuhyun snapped his fingers. “You know what to do Donghae.”
Donghae nodded.
The soil beneath my feet started to move. I thought it was snakes but it wasn’t. It was vines. Lots of them, coiling around my legs. It was like before when Donghae used it on Yesung.
I tried to run for it. But the vines were securely tight on my legs.
“What the hell?! I thought you were training me! Not tangling me with vines.” I shouted.
“I am!” shouted Kyuhyun back. “All you have to do is focus. Focus on the earth around you.”
I made another tsk sound. He’s really pissed today.
I closed my eyes. Something twitched in my legs. Then it felt like a burn. I opened my eyes and realized that I burned the vines instead.
“Opps.” I said. “My bad.”
“Its okay Sungmin,” said Donghae and grew vines around my legs again. “Try again.” I nodded.
This is going to be a really long day.
By the time it was sunset, my body was totally drained. Donghae and Yesung switched roles when they grew tired but now both of them were a tired as me.
“I think you over exerted your body today,” pointed out Yesung.
“Its okay. I think I can keep going.”
“Are you sure?” asked Donghae.
“A hundred percent.” I said. Actually more like 10% but they didn’t need to know that.
“If you say so.” Yesung and Donghae both sent vines crawling up my legs.
I sent a rush of power down to my legs and the vines quiver.
“You should rest,” suggested Donghae.
“But—“ I began.
“It’s time to head back,” interrupted Kyuhyun.
“I didn’t even master earth yet.” I complained.
“Do you expect to learn something in one day?” pointed out Kyuhyun.
“I did it before. I mastered wind in one day.”
“Then how did you feel the next day?” Kyuhyun’s voice rose.
“I—“ The next day after I learned how to control wind, my body was extremely sore. “So? What’s your point?”
“I’m just pointing it out. If you force yourself too much, your body might not heal. Besides you need more time to learn this.”
“What? You think I can’t do it?” I asked.
“I’m just giving you more time to learn earth element.” He turned around and walked away.
Tsk.
“What is his problem?” I asked.
“I’m guessing you don’t know what happened this morning,” stated Donghae. I stared at him.
“What happened?” I had a feeling this wasn’t good to hear.
Donghae let out a sigh that seem to last forever.
“One of the Dragons members poisoned Kyuhyun’s water. We’re assuming that it was Wylie.”
“Are you serious? Is he okay? He seemed different today.”
“He drank it. And the poison took affect immediately. Luckily, I was there. After I saw him drink it, the pupils in his eyes shrank. I knew what happened,” said Donghae.
“I reacted fast. I had to heal him and drive the poison out of his body.”
“You can heal?” I asked.
He nodded. “I can teach you. It comes in handy.”
“Sweet thanks. Continue on.”
“Okay. When I took the poison out, the organs were already damaged. I healed him and now he seems okay.”
“That’s good to hear.” I stated.
“Kyuhyun is taking extra precaution now since this morning,” said Yesung. “He thinks the Dragons are going to try and kill us one by one, starting with him.”
I shivered. “No. I have a feeling that’s not it.”
Donghae and Yesung stared at me.
“I think…” My voice trembled. “I think they’re coming after me. They trying to distract you guys from me so I’m out in the open to grab.”
“What?” asked Donghae.
“They’re underestimating us,” said Yesung.
“Who knows?” I said. “Lets go. It’s getting dark.”
The sun was completely gone and the moon was visible in the night sky.
