“Everything’s in order” Yoobin was saying. “It’s my turn to go down to the hall” she told Junsu.
“Ok, you may proceed” Junsu told her. When Yoobin left the room, he saw that Yoobin had left behind her clipboard. He searched for his phone to call her but realize it wasn’t with him. “Aish! I must have left it in the car” he muttered. “I guess I pass this to her myself” He told the team members sitting in the room to continue doing their job while he went downstairs to locate Yoobin.
Lucky for him, he saw her before she joined the huge crowd at the fair. The hall was the size of four football fields and it will be hard to find her. “Yoobin! You forgot this!” Junsu called her. Yoobin turned and laughed. “No wonder I felt something was missing. Thanks boss!” she said sheepishly, taking the clipboard.
Junsu shook his head at the girl’s carelessness. He was about to go back to the control room when he remembered his phone. “Eh, I might as well go to the car park and take it” he told himself. He did a U-turn and head to the parking lot, the morning sun shining down on him. He was glad that he managed to park his car nearer to the building since the entire lot was already full. “Who knew book fair can be so enticing” he wondered, as he opened the door and searched for his phone.
Junsu slipped his phone into his pocket and slammed the door shut when he saw something bright red from the corner of his eye. He unconsciously turned and saw that it was Ri In, wearing a red trench coat and making her way across the lot, looking down on the ground. “Ri In!” he hollered but the girl could not hear him. She was already nearing the doors leading to the book fair so he decided to make a run for it before she disappeared into the mass. Ri In however was too fast for him and she was gone out of his sight.
“Man, she’s fast!” Junsu groaned standing at the entrance, his eyes scanning the crowd, hoping to spot her. When his phone rang, he answered it without looking at who the caller was. “What?!” he spat.
“WHAT?!” Yunho repeated after him in an irritated voice. Junsu eyes nearly popped out and he quickly thought of a good lie. “Hyung! Mianhe…I thought you were…Junho” he said, referring to his brother. He crossed his fingers praying that Yunho will buy the story.
“Ah..I see. So, how’s the fair going? I heard the crowds crazy. Can you manage?” Yunho wanted to know.
“Uh-huh. So far so good…Hyung, I better go now. I need to check on a few things” Junsu told him when he saw a crowd forming at one of the Payment booths.
“Okay. I leave everything too you” Yunho told him and they hung up. Junsu strode over to the chaotic area and found out that two of the cash register had jammed and the people weren’t pleased that the line was not moving. “You can move to the other line if you want, if not please give us five minutes to access the situation” Junsu told them in a calm manner.
Some of the people grumbled but they stayed in the same line and waited. The technicians rushed down as soon as Junsu called them and fixed the machine. Just as Junsu had promised, it only took five minutes to get the two machines back to life and the line started moving. Junsu thanked the technicians for managing the situation quickly. “That was fast!” Yoobin commented. “We have to” Junsu simply told her and Yoobin nodded, getting the message.
Junsu was about to go back to the control room when he spotted Ri In standing a few feet away from him. She had an armload of books in one arm and was looking around at the selection of hard covers in front of her. With a victorious smile, he walked up to her, calling her name, but she didn’t look up. Junsu then realized that she had her earphones on. He tugged lightly at one of the earphones and Ri In turned abruptly causing the books to topple out of her hand. A heavy bound journal fell squarely on Junsu’s right foot causing him to shout out in pain.
“OW!! OWWW…Owwiee…ow..oww…OMO!! Junsu yelped, hopping on one foot.
“Ju..Junsu?” Ri In asked, staring at him as she slipped her MP3 into her coat pocket. “Mianhe…I didn’t know..I’m so sorry” she said, getting down on her knees and gathering the books. Junsu did the same and helped her. When their hands brushed each other, Ri In quickly pulled her hand away and got up, holding the books tightly to her chest. Junsu noticed her fearful eyes and he frowned as he stood up as well “Yah..my foot’s not broken or anything. I’m not going to eat you up” he told her.
Ri In nodded and then turned around but Junsu stopped her.
“Let me carry that” Junsu offered, extending his hand. Ri In looked uncertainly at him but she dumped the whole load at him and then walked away quickly. “Ri In! Wait up!” Junsu ran after her, almost knocking into someone and caught her arm. He felt her arm stiffened and he immediately let go when he saw the glare Ri In threw at him. Her eyes then quickly softened when she saw his confused look.
“M..Mianhe. I just had..a bad morning” Ri In mumbled, looking apologetic. She bit her lip nervously, not daring to make eye contact with him.
Junsu chuckled. “It’s okay. I get those days some time. Except I don’t dump books on people’s feet” He laughed when saw Ri In’s cheeks reddening. “So are you going to look around for more items or…” he asked, gesturing to the books in his hands.
“Actually..t..those books are not in my preference. You can leave it somewhere” Ri In blurted out, stuffing her hands in her pockets.
Junsu gave her a disbelief look. “Wae? You walked around the fair carrying them and NOW you said you don’t need it. Aren’t you wasting your time missy?” he asked, a bit puzzled by Ri In’s behaviour. Where was Little Miss Sunshine he met a few weeks back?
“How I spend my time is NONE of your business” Ri In snapped at him and left him standing there with the books.
“W—What? Yah! Ri In! What’s got into you?!” Junsu asked. He passed the books to one of his team members on duty and chased after her. He sped up when Ri In was walking faster. “Aish..why must she walk so fast?!” he thought.
Ri In exited the fair when Junsu finally caught up with her. To his surprise, her expression was caught in between anger and confusion and she kept biting her lower lip. “What do you want?” she asked, glaring at him.
“I…I just want to talk. Did something happen at home?” Junsu wanted to know. “Ri In, look at me okay?” he urged her. Ri In then took a deep breath and swallowed hard. “Fine. I…I’m only pi..pissed off because I…I couldn’t get the stuff that I want here. Happy?” she said quickly, crossing her arms.
Junsu gave her a blank stare and then he burst out laughing. “That’s it? Omo! How cute. Getting angry at such little stuff! I thought it was a mid life crisis!” he wheezed, shaking his head.
Ri In gaped at him. She wanted to say something back but decided not to and left Junsu laughing again but this time Junsu was quick. He grabbed her hand and gave her a grin. “Yah..l..let go of me!” Ri In screeched slapping his hand away.
“Only if you let me help you. I’m handling the whole fair together with my team. I can get the books that you want. It’s for the school library isn’t it?” Junsu guessed, gripping her arm tighter. He saw Ri In winced so he loosened the grip but he still hang on to her.
“What if I say no?” Ri In challenged him. “Then I’ll keep holding on to you and you will accompany—
“Ah ah..araso!” Ri In gave in. She flashed him an annoying look as she fished out a piece of paper from her coat and gave it to him. Junsu slowly let go of her hand. When he had released her, she whacked him on the head so hard that he doubled over.
“AARRGGH!! Chincha!! What the hell was that for?!” Junsu hollered, holding his head and glaring at her but Ri In was already gone. He rubbed his sore head and saw her marching to the parking lot, searching for her car,
“What’s got into her anyway?” Junsu wondered. He then laughed out loud, watching her turn left, turn right, and then left again as she tried to locate her car.
“Aish..she’s such a cartoon!” Junsu hooted till tears came out from his eyes. He observed her until she finally got the car and drove out of the place. He then went back to the control room, still not getting over her silliness.
