Nadine sipped her ice tea. "You can’t expect me to leave the house with that piece of glass sticking out” she said.
Junsu shuddered at the pain Nadine had to go through early in the morning. He then noticed Ri In picking at the last chicken piece on her plate. “You’re a fast eater” he commented.
Ri In jabbed the chicken piece with her fork and stuffed it into her mouth. “So?” she asked with her mouth full.
Junsu saw Nadine narrowing her eyes at her but Ri In chose to ignore it. “I’m done. Can we go now?” Ri In asked, dabbing the corners of her mouth.
Both Nadine and Junsu stared at their plate. Both of them were halfway through their food and Changmin hasn’t even touched his since he kept answering SY’s call since just now. It was obvious that Ri In was trying to bail out on the lunch. She was already standing but Nadine grabbed her arm. “But you’ve ordered dessert as well” she reminded her.
Ri In pressed her lips together. “Oh..right. Well..I..I’ll have to go to the Ladies” she told them and strode off to the washroom, her head held high.
Junsu covered his mouth to prevent himself from laughing out loud. “Is she always like that?”
Nadine thought for a while. “Umm..no actually. Could be mood swings” she said with a shrug. “I hope you’re not offended by her” she said with an apologetic look.
Junsu shook her head. “Nah, I’m used to it already. I’m guessing I’m the cause of her mood swings” he said sipping his drink.
Nadine chewed on her food slowly and stared at him. Junsu frowned. “Nadine-shii? Why are you looking at me like that” he asked, waving his hand in front of her face.
“Is that Yoochun?” she asked, looking at someone behind him. Junsu twisted around in his seat to see Yoochun sitting at the corner of the restaurant, stirring a cup of coffee.
“Should I go over and ask him to join us?” Junsu asked Nadine. Nadine looked nervously at him but then she flashed him a bright smile. “I think he’s with someone” she told him.
Junsu twisted in his seat again to see that there was a bag and light pink scarf on the chair in front of Yoochun. “Omo! I think he’s on a date! That sly midget! I’m going to go over there and say Hi” he told Nadine.
Before Nadine could stop him, Junsu was already on the way to disturb Yoochun. Yoochun was startled to see Junsu towering over him with an evil smirk. “Ju..Junsu? What are you doing here?” he asked.
“Having lunch. And you?” Junsu asked, eyeing the items on the seat across and then giving him a sly grin.
“I’m..meeting someone. Who are you eating with?’ Yoochun asked. “Yah Hyung, who I am eating with, is not important. I want to know who your date is!” Junsu said, beaming.
“It’s not a date. I’m only meeting an old friend” Yoochun told him in a calm manner.
Junsu rolled his eyes. “Right, and you expect me to believe that” he said. “Soooo..tell me. Who is she?”
Yoochun opened his mouth but then something caught his eyes. “Isn’t that Ri In?” he asked.
Junsu followed his gaze and saw Ri In making her way to their table. She sat down beside Nadine and at the same time Changmin came in and joined them.
“The…four of you..having lunch together?” Yoochun asked, raising his eyebrows.
Junsu nodded. He told him about Nadine passing out at the NAC and Changmin helping her. “I bumped into Ri In at the hospital, and I decided to have lunch together…and so here we are! But hyung! You’re trying to avoid my question again!” Junsu pestered him.
Just then he felt someone tapping his shoulder and saw Changmin behind him. “Hyung, is he bothering you?” Changmin asked Yoochun.
Yoochun chuckled. “Take him away” he told Changmin. “Ah! Wae?!” Junsu asked as Changmin dragged him away back to their table. “You’re making a nuisance of yourself Hyung!” Changmin told him as they sat down.
Junsu grumbled under his breath and finished eating his food but he kept glancing to see who the mystery woman will be. Changmin kicked his leg under the table and Nadine laughed.
Junsu then noticed that Ri In was quiet all of a sudden and was staring at her empty glass. “Oh, you want a refill?” Junsu asked.
RI In shook her head but her eyes were downcast. Junsu looked over at Nadine but she was busy talking to Changmin and he did not want to interrupt their conversation. Junsu quickly finished his meal and called for the waiter to clear the plates.
“Ri In, shall we have the dessert now?” Junsu asked politely. Ri In, who was fiddling with the ends of the napkin, did not answer him. Junsu tapped Ri In’s wrist and her head shot up in surprise. “Huh?” she asked, snapping out of her reverie. “D..Did you say something?” she asked.
Junsu frowned slightly. “Are you feeling alright? You don’t look good” he said. He leaned forward and peered at her closely and she instantly moved back, her eyes widened at his sudden move.
“What do you think you’re doing?” Ri In asked in a low voice. Her eyes darted from Nadine to Changmin but both of them were still caught up in their conversation.
“Ri In, we’re friends now right?” Junsu asked her. Ri In gulped and stared at Junsu. “Cause if we are, and as a good friend, I would like to say that….” Junsu picked up the napkin and dabbed at the corner of Ri In’s lips. “Okay, all gone!” Junsu said with flourished and sat back.
Ri In’s fingers flew to the spot where Junsu had touched it. “You had a little bit of something on there” Junsu explained, signaling the waiter for the dessert. When Ri In was still frozen at the same position, he leaned forward. “Were you expecting me to…kiss you?” he teased.
Ri In’s lips formed into a tight line and she stamped on his feet. “Sickening pervert” she hissed while Junsu howled in pain. Both Changmin and Nadine stopped talking and faced them.
“What happened?” Changmin asked, peering under the table. Junsu was bending over and clutching his throbbing right feet.
“I thought I saw a roach and wanted to step on it but I ended up stepping on Junsu’s foot. Oops” Ri In explained with a victorious smile.
“There’s a roach here?” Nadine asked, looking under the table. “Nah, my eyesight must have failed me” Ri In told her.
Junsu clenched his teeth and glared at Ri In. “You were asking for it” she mouthed and faced the other way with a scowl.
“Me and my big mouth” Junsu thought just as their desserts arrived. Junsu kept stealing glances at Ri In who acted like nothing had happened.
When Changmin went off to settle the bill and Nadine excused herself to the Ladies, Junsu took the opportunity to reprimand what Ri In did to him but the girl beat him to it.
“You’re not getting an apology from me” Ri In snapped as she stood up. Junsu grabbed her arm before she made her exited just as Yoochun and his “old friend” walked past their table. His ‘old friend’ turned out to be a tall model-like woman with shoulder-length straight hair and was wearing the most expensive looking outfit Junsu had set his eyes on.
“Oh Hyung!” Junsu said, still holding on to Ri In’s arm. He pulled Ri In closer so that she would not get away and greeted Yoochun’s friend.
“Nice to meet you too” the woman, who introduced herself as Sun Mi, replied with a dazzling smile. “And this is-----?”
“This is Ri In. She’s…a bit shy” Junsu said with a nervous laugh. Ri In had decided to stand behind him instead.
After Yoochun and Sun Mi left, Junsu turned around to face Ri In only to find her biting her lower lip and watching the couple got into a car outside the restaurant and then drove off. Junsu saw her misty eyes and he let go of her arm, suddenly regretting his foolish act.
“Ri In? Gwenchana?” Junsu asked softly. “T..Thanks for the meal” Ri In whispered before grabbing her stuff and left the restaurant.
Junsu stared after her. He wanted to chase after her but something at the back of his mind told him not to. He had a feeling he would ended up hurting her. Junsu recalled the scene again, the way Ri In had her eyes on Yoochun.
........Could it be?
