“What about that Jaejoong guy?” Ri In had asked Junsu. “No idea. I think Changmin got rid of him?” Junsu had told her.
Ri In was lost in her own thoughts that she did not hear Nadine calling out to her. She spun around in her seat and saw Nadine stepping out of the bathroom, in her thick bathrobe and drying her hair with a towel. She stood up and joined Nadine at the dining table and watched as her friend sat down calmly and took a whiff of the tea that Ri In had make. Ri In’s eyes then fell upon the slight bruises on Nadine’s arms.
“What did he do to you?” Ri In asked her, trying not to sound angry. Nadine looked up with a calm expression. “He..He sent me home?”
“I meant that Jaejoong guy. What did he do to your arms?” Ri In questioned her. Nadine sighed and leaned back on the chair. “Nothing can escape from your eyes don’t they?” she asked, rolling up the sleeves and staring at the bruises. “It didn’t cross my mind that it will that serious”
Ri In dragged a chair and sat beside Nadine, inspecting the slightly purplish marks on her friend’s arm. “He’s an animal Nadine. I want you to stay away from him”
Nadine raised her eyebrows. “Rinnie, he was drunk—
“Alcohol tends out to bring the worst in people, especially men. You told me that yourself. God knows what he will do next” Ri In told her, not happy with what Jaejoong did to Nadine.
“I think you’re overreacting. In fact, you sounded like Changmin” Nadine said, finishing her tea. Ri In nodded. “Well that’s good. At least we both agreed that we don’t like you hanging out with Jaejoong. I just find that guy too demanding, always asking you out and everytime you said No he will try to convince you and you ended up agreeing to it. It’s like as if you’re under a spell…and I don’t like it”
Just then Nadine’s phone beeped and both girls stared at the mobile device sitting on the dining table. Ri In watched as Nadine picked up the phone and then pressed a few buttons, a nonchalant expression on her face. “Jaejoong?” Ri In wanted to know.
Nadine shook her head. “Changmin” she replied. Ri In nodded and then noticed that her friend had gone all quiet and still staring at the phone. Ri In frowned. “Did he say anything wrong?”
“No..just..” Nadine stopped talking and cleared her throat. “I’m..tired. I think I’ll go to bed now” she said. “Thanks for the tea”
“Wait. Just what?” Ri In wanted to know. Nadine stifled a yawn. “I’ll tell you tomorrow” she said sleepily dragging her feet to her room.
“Nadine!” Ri In whined but Nadine waved her hands at her. “Tomorrow. Promise” Nadine told her before closing the door.
Ri In made a face and went to the dining table, picking up Nadine’s empty tea cup and walking to the kitchen when her phone rang. She picked up and balanced it between her ear and shoulder. “Hello?” she asked, as she turned on the faucet.
“I’m already downstairs” Junsu told her.
Ri In raised her eyebrows as she washed the cup. “Why are you here for?” she asked.
Junsu chuckled. “Silly. I’m supposed to send over the stuff you bought in the supermarket this afternoon remember?”
Ri In let out a nervous laughter. “I totally forgot about that. Just give me a minute. I’ll be right down” she told him as she turned off the faucet and placed the clean cup on the shelf beside the sink. Ri In hung up and hesitantly went to stand outside Nadine’s room. She gingerly knocked on the door and heard shuffling inside. The door opened and Ri In saw Nadine in her sleeping attire and her room was already dark.
“I..um..I’m going downstairs for a while” Ri In informed her. Nadine nodded giving her a sleepy smile. “Sure. Don’t forget to lock the doors” she said before closing the door.
Ri In was thinking what was on Nadine’s mind as she took the lift downstairs and did not realize that the lift has already brought her down to the first floor and Junsu was looking at her as she stood rooted inside the lift, staring at the ground. Just as the door was about to close, Junsu rushed forward and pressed the button. “Aren’t you going to come out?” he asked.
Ri In blinked at him. “Huh?” she asked, looking around and then realized where she was. “Oh my God” she said with a laugh as she stepped out. “That was stupid” she added.
“Are you on medication?” Junsu asked, leading her to his car. Ri In laughed. “No! Why would you say that?” she asked, walking down the steps and heading to the parking lot.
“You look so faraway” Junsu pointed out, taking her hand and giving it a squeeze. Ri In sighed. “Nadine’s hiding something from me. Did Jaejoong hurt her in anyway?” she wanted to know.
“Well..when me and Changmin rushed to the terrace, Jaejoong and Nadine were in a middle of a squabble..it seems like Nadine wanted to get away from Jaejoong but he wouldn’t let her” Junsu told her as they reached his car.
Ri In frowned, obviously not liking what Jaejoong was doing to Nadine. Junsu waved his hand in front of her face and Ri In looked up at him. “You have that faraway look again” he told her. “You’re worried for Nadine?”
Ri In nodded and then Junsu dragged her away from the car. “Where are we going?” she asked as Junsu pulled her to the gate and the security guard threw them a weird look. Ri In gave him a wave and tugged on Junsu’s hand. “YAH!”
Junsu turned to her. “What? You have a curfew?” he asked.
“No..but I thought I’m supposed to—
“Ri In..in life you need to be spontaneous a little bit. Let’s go for a walk at the park shall we” Junsu said, linking arms with her and then laughed when he saw the unsure look on Ri In’s face.
“And why are you laughing?” Ri In asked, as she stopped walking. Junsu reached out and pinched her cheek. “What’s with the look? I’m not going to kidnap you. We’re just going out for a walk. You look so stress right now my dear”
“I’m NOT stress. I’m only…I have a lot on my mind” Ri In explained as they continued walking down the brick pathway accompanied by the sounds of the crickets and their footsteps. The park which was located beside the apartment building was mostly filled with couples and joggers. A make-shift food stand was located near the pond and a few teenagers were milling around it getting a late night snack.
“You’re a good friend Ri In, always thinking about Nadine’s safety” Junsu commented. Ri In leaned on his shoulder and sighed. “Well, she’s my only friend” she told him.
“And I’m not?” Junsu asked and Ri In pinched his arms causing him to yelp in pain. Ri In raised her head and laughed at him. Just then there was a low rumble coming from above and they both glanced up at the sky. “Omo..it’s going to rain?” she said and then noticed that most of the park goers were getting ready to leave. “But we just got here” she added.
“We can still stay here” Junsu told her as he continued walking, pulling her along. “Aniya..we don’t have an umbrella” Ri In pointed out to him and then felt the first drop on her nose.
“We’ll find a shelter then. We’re not going home until your mind is at ease” Junsu said, looking around. Ri In rolled her eyes.
“That’s silly! Come on, let’s go back before it starts —OH NO!” Ri In cried in surprise when it started pouring without warning. It didn’t take a whole minute for the both of them to be drenched and Ri In was already shivering from the cold but Junsu was still walking around looking for a shelter.
“Junsu! Stop being so stubborn” Ri In shouted at him but the loud thunder drowned her voice. She yelped in surprise when there was a flash of lightning and she stayed closed to Junsu. “Junsu, this is stupid..are you listening to me?!” she asked tugging on his arm forcing him to face her. “Yah OPPA!” she screeched.
Junsu looked at her in surprise and Ri In swallowed hard but her eyes were glued onto his. By now, they were the only one in the park, only accompanied by the lights from the lamp posts and the pitter patter sound of the raindrops. Ri In blinked back the droplets that was falling on her eyelashes and felt her heart beating faster when Junsu let go of her arm, staring fixedly at her as he came forward and brushed back the hairs that was plastered onto her wet face.
“We should go b—“ Before Ri In could finish her sentence, she felt Junsu’s lips on hers and she felt a warm rush running through her body. She closed her eyes as Junsu snaked his arms around her waist pulling her closer to his body. Ri In circled her arms around Junsu’s neck and returned the kiss. She felt all her troubles disappearing one by one as their kiss deepened and at the same time was unaware that they were making out in a heavy downpour. Gone were her worries of Nadine’s complicated friendship with Jaejoong and the fact that Sun Mi was planning to have a gathering with the four of them. Right now, it was as if time has stood for her and Junsu as they shared their first kiss in the rain.
Junsu was the first to break the kiss and Ri In was a bit sad that it was over but the warm rush was still lingering in her body as well on her lips. Ri In removed her arms from his neck and looked down at the ground but Junsu tilted her chin to face him, his eyes boring into hers. “Wae?” he asked gently, as he caressed her cheeks.
“I’m…I’m cold” Ri In whispered but she felt her cheeks warming up when Junsu placed his lips on hers again and gave her a short kiss. “How about now?” he asked with a teasing look.
Ri In smiled. “Much better” she told him and Junsu chuckled. Deep down, Ri In knew that Junsu was beyond happy that she had called him ‘Oppa’. Ri In admits that she was not having an easy time when they started officially dating right after the incident he had found her crying her heart out at the streets and that Ri In had already fallen for him when he had comforted her right there despite the fact that he was getting tired from standing and his arms were cramped from holding on to her for too long.
Being with Junsu was different. He was an easy laidback guy who doesn’t ask much and Ri In feels at ease every time she’s with him. His simple nature was what Ri In like about, especially when he took her to the beach and making her laugh even though during that time, she still had the cold façade around her but he had managed to break it down.
“You’re thinking again?” Junsu asked, looking down at her with a doubtful look. Ri In nodded. “About what?” he wanted to know, holding her close.
“You” Ri In answered simply and Junsu raised his eyebrows. “What about me?” he asked.
“About what a big jerk you are dragging me to the park and getting caught in the rain. I’m going to be sick tomorrow” Ri In told him, trying to push him away but Junsu pulled her close.
“But it was for a good cause…don’t you think?” Junsu said a husky voice as brushed his lips against hers. Ri In smiled and felt giddy at the same time despite the fact the rain was getting heavier.
“You’re definitely paying for my medical bill” Ri In whispered before capturing his lips again.

I hope you're feeling better =D Aaah..your comparison for the two guys chasing after Nadine..haha..nicely done! Yes.. I think the one with "charm and patience" will definitely get her. Why is SunMi making you nervous? I think she's harmless and will not hurt Ri In? We'll see about that in the upcoming chapters aye?
