“Let me try!” Sun Ye said, taking the cupcake and tasting it. “Oh my gosh! These tarts are SO heavenly. It practically melts in your mouth!” Sun Ye exclaimed.
Ri In nodded in agreement for her mouth was too full of the sweet treat. “You’re boyfriend is really something! Where did he manage to get all these caterers in such a short time?” Sun Ye asked, dabbing the corners of her mouth with a pink napkin.
Ri In felt her face getting warm when she heard the word “boyfriend”. She was not used yet to everyone referring to Junsu as her boyfriend. She was also not used to having him giving her sweet kisses and hugs when she least expects it. After their little rendezvous in the rain at the park, the both of them had fallen sick and Ri In had taken three days of sick leave which means she was not be able to assist Sun Ye with the spring festival. She felt bad since she was in the food committee and it was a major part of the festival. If there’s not enough food, people will get angry. And if they get angry with the school, it will tarnish Iseul’s reputation.
“It was really nice of him to help out when you were sick” Sun Ye was saying as she passed the treats to the hungry customers. “But come to think of it, he look a bit unwell too” she added.
Ri In took the change from the customer and shrugged. “I told him not to help out, but he insisted” she told Sun Ye as she placed another fresh batch of hazelnut brownies on the table causing a few people to rush to their booth.
“WOW! You know, this spring festival thing kinda rocks!” Nadine said as she stepped inside the booth and admiring the hard work.
Sun Ye handed Nadine a chocolate frosted cupcake. “Try this!” she said. Nadine took a bite and her eyes lit up. “I feel so sin eating this!” Nadine said, covering her mouth.
Sun Ye nodded. “I know! And it’s all thanks to Ri In’s boyfriend. He’s amazing don’t you think? Really thoughtful of him to come down and help us even though it was a last minute thing” she said before walking away to assist a customer.
Ri In handed Nadine a napkin and beamed. “He’s great isn’t he” she said breathlessly and Nadine gave her a weird stare. “You sound like a lovesick puppy” Nadine told her as she wiped her mouth.
“That’s because I am” Ri In said and then giggled. She quit doing it when Nadine threw her a dirty look. “Sorry. Must have got a little carried away. So, is Changmin coming here later?”
Nadine shrugged. “I don’t know. He didn’t say anything about it” she mumbled as she absently folded and unfolded a napkin.
Ri In grinned to herself. “I think he will come. Don’t worry. You guys can go on those couple ride after this. I’ll make sure I’ll reserve a seat for two for the both of you” she teased Nadine.
“Rinnie!” Nadine said, looking surprised. “W..What are you babbling about?” she stammered, looking nervous all of a sudden.
“Aww come on Nadine! You can be so transparent sometimes. I may be in bed for the past three days but I still know what’s going on in that little head of yours. Face it, you like him and you can’t wait for Saturday to come” Ri In told her as she crossed her arms and gave Nadine a victorious smile.
“Saturday? What about Saturday?” Nadine bluntly asked. Ri In rolled her eyes upward. “Don’t act dumb with me. I saw you circling the date a few thousand times on the calendar in your room and even adding smiley faces in your planner”
“You went through MY planner! Rinnie, that’s private stuff! I..I..write..stuff…in there!” Nadine hissed.
“It just so happen that the planner was opened and I saw it. I swear I didn’t read any of…whatever stuff you wrote in there” Ri In assured her, although she was dying to know what “stuff” Nadine wrote inside. Nadine gave her a doubtful look and Ri In sighed. “I SWEAR! Really!” she insisted. Nadine was about to protest when they were interrupted by Junsu.
“Heeeeey. How’s the party going?” Junsu asked as he walked inside the booth and surveying the food on display.
Ri In gave a devilish grin to Nadine before facing Junsu. “Oppa! You’re finally here” she said, giving him a hug. “So uhh..where’s Changmin? He’s too busy to come?”
“He’s still stuck in the office, but he told me he definitely come. Do you know where the washroom is?” Junsu asked her.
“Just go straight past that game stall and turned left” Ri In instructed him. Junsu nodded. “Got it. I’ll see you later” he said before giving her a peck on the cheek.
Ri In felt the squiggly motion on her stomach coming again every time he does that to her and she can’t help smiling to herself. Okay, so Nadine was right. She was indeed turning into a lovesick puppy.
Ri In walked over to where Nadine was. Her friend was staring at the cherry blossom tree beside their booth and watching the petals falling slowly on the ground. “Changmin’s still stuck in the office BUT he will definitely come, so don’t worry okay?” Ri In told Nadine.
“You’re enjoying this aren’t you?” Nadine questioned Ri In, her eyes still fixed on the tree. Ri In laughed. “No I’m not! I mean Nadine, look at you, you’re the only one who looks as if her pet dog just died where else everyone here seems to have a good time. Now turn that frown upside down or you’ll scare Changmin away with that sour look!”
“Rinnie…stop it. Doesn’t mean..you’re in love, everyone has to be happy and lovey dovey—
“Someone sounds like sour grapes to me” Ri In interrupted. “Nadine, I don’t mean to make you feel bad. I know you’re still hurt from what Jaejoong did to you..since it reminded you..of..what..your ex-boyfriend did to you, but you have got to learn to give other people a chance—
“To who? To Jaejoong?” Nadine asked with a shocked look.
Ri In laughed at her friend’s silly expression. “No! To Changmin! Jaejoong doesn’t deserve all the chances in the world at all. It’s obvious that Changmin is treating you more of a client. Even a blind person can see that!”
Nadine went all quiet for a while, considering what Ri In had told her. Ri In looked around the crowded area and then spotted Changmin walking around, probably looking for Nadine. She nudged Nadine and her friend looked up. “What?”
“He’s here. Remember what I told you” Ri In said with a wink before leaving Nadine standing there waiting for her Prince to arrive. Ri In chuckled at the idea of the Prince saving the damsel in distress. She did not watch where she was going and she accidentally bumped onto someone.
“Mianhe!” Ri In told the person and to her surprise, saw that it was Sun Mi. She was in her office wear but to Ri In, it was as if Sun Mi just walked out of a fashion catalogue. Ri In felt like a rag doll in her short sleeved red sweater and dark jeans compared to Sun Mi’s polished top to toe appearance, right down to the black 3 inch heels.
“Gingersnap! I’m so glad I found you. I actually had a hard time getting around here” Sun Mi said with relief.
“I told you to stop calling me that!” Ri In pointed out for the hundredth time. “But it looks like you don’t have a problem getting to where those cupcakes are” she said, motioning to the pink box in Sun Mi’s hands.
Sun Mi looked at the box and giggled. “These treats are amazing! I heard that it was your idea to sell them?” she asked, beaming.
“Well, sort of. But Junsu was the one doing most of the job getting the orders right” Ri In told her and she felt her heart warming up when she saw Junsu walking towards them.
“Sun Mi! Hi!” Junsu said with a bright smile. “So glad that you can make it” he added as he stood beside Ri In and taking her hands in his. Ri In felt Junsu giving her a comforting squeeze and she soon realized why when Yoochun suddenly appeared behind Sun Mi.
“Oh Oppa! I was about to call you!” Sun Mi was saying when Yoochun took the pink box from her hands. Deep down, Ri In wanted to turn away from the lovely couple but her eyes were still glued on the way Yoochun had draped his arms around Sun Mi’s shoulder and she saw him throwing a quick glance at Junsu and Ri In.
Ri In felt a bit awkward seeing them together and Junsu seemed to sense it. “Me and Ri In will be heading somewhere..we’ll see you guys—
“Actually I was thinking if we all could come and sit together at that makeshift café over there. Since Ri In has offered to help me out with the wedding, I was thinking maybe we might as well get to know each other now and not wait till the dinner. How about that?” Sun Mi suggested.
Ri In felt a sudden tension growing when Junsu turned to her with a slightly hurt look. She mentally kicked herself for not telling Junsu about the one important topic during their girl talk the other day.
“Sure, why not” Junsu told Sun Mi as he tugged Ri In’s arm and the four of them trudged down towards the makeshift café . Ri In gingerly sat down and watched as Junsu took a seat beside her, his jaw clenching and unclenching.
“Oppa, you’re not mad are you?” Ri In whispered to him just as Sun Mi and Yoochun went off to place their orders.
“Aniya” Junsu replied, looking down at his hands. Ri In took a deep breath. “I can…I can tell Sun Mi I won’t be able to help her—
“No Ri In. Doing that..for the sake of me..that’s being selfish don’t you think? You’re making me the bad person just by creating a wall between your new friend” Junsu told her, as their eyes met. Ri In stared into his eyes that were already filled up with a mixture of impair and pain.
“Oppa. You don’t trust me? You think…you think that by me, helping Sun Mi out, you think I’m taking this chance to—
Before Ri In could finish her sentence, Junsu shut her up by placing his lips on hers. When they both parted, Junsu placed his hands on Ri In and gave her an reassuring smile. “I trust you Ri In” he said softly.
Ri In nodded. “Thank you Oppa” she whispered, leaning forward and giving a kiss on his cheek. “Trust me, if I get hurt again—
“You won’t get hurt” Junsu said, squeezing her hand. “I’m right here remember? I won’t allow that to happen” he told her.
Ri In looked affectionately at Junsu and squeezed his hands back. “I love you” she choked out.

CraazyFilipina : Here's a chapter with Ri In in it! And I'm glad that Changmin's finally make the ultimate move. It's about time don't you think? And hell yeah..Junsu is living up to the "Knight in Shining Armour" title. He's so protective of Ri In yes? And ooh..I visited your Wordpress! I like 2NE1 too. I hope their music will get better! I adore Park Bom. I used to have a blog but I shut it down since I rarely update it ^_^
Monica : Hey you..don't get so confuse so easily. Nadine may have forgiven Jaejoong but she's not going to be easy with him...I hope. Changmin...being agressive? WOW. There will be some major hotness going on there! XD
