"Aish...." Nadine muttered as she closed the sketch book but then she opened to the last page and looked at the last drawing. A smile slowly crept up her face as the scene repeated itself again...and...again. Yes, she pretty much admit that she was not expecting Changmin to do something like that. And yes, she admit that she pretty much...enjoyed it...and that she wished the phone call had not interrupted that magical moment.
When Changmin had placed his lips on hers, she felt a sudden jolt of electricity running inside her body. At first Changmin was slowly brushing his lips against her and then he started leading the kiss and Nadine felt herself responding to the gentle motion that he was giving. It had felt so...perfect right there, right then and she felt herself pressing her body closer to him, her hands on his chest and feeling the thumping of his heartbeat at the same time. Nadine had shudderd when Changmin placed his arms around her slim waist as the kiss grew more intense and passionate. Nadine had found it unimaginable about the whole thing. She knew that deep down, she had like this guy but had refrain from doing anything just so she won't get hurt again, but it seems like the wall she had built had successfully tumbled down...all thanks to him. Nadine was even more suprised when she felt Changmin running his tongue lightly on her bottom lip..as if asking permission to move on to the next base...when all of a sudden, a shrilling sound interrupted them. Both of them were startled to hear it, for their personal comfort zone were burst by a....mere phonecall from the VP. Nadine had wanted to walk away to give Changmin some privacy but he had held on to her, shaking his head and smiling down at her at the same time. As Nadine stood close to him, with his arm around her waist, and once again, those jolt of electricity ran in her veins when Changmin started making small circles with his thumb at the side of her waist while talking on the phone. It was a good thing Nadine wasn't hyperventilating. When Changmin was done with the phonecall, Nadine had noticed that he had a dejected look on his face as he put his phone away.
"What's wrong?" Nadine had asked and Changmin shook his head. "Nothing, it's work" he told her.
"Oh..you..have to..go back to the office..now?" Nadine had hoped that he will say No but she felt a bit disappointed when Changmin told her that he had to fly to Japan on that night.
"Guess...you can't escape from work huh?" Nadine had told him but Changmin had spotted that she was a little bit upset and grinned at her.
"I bet you're missing me already" Changmin had teased her. Nadine rolled her eyes and made a move but Changmin had grabbed her and gave her another kiss that almost made her lose her breath. "I'll be back before you know it" he whispered, kissing her forehead.
Nadine touched the spot where he had kissed and smiled to herself. So...it was official then...that both of their feelings towards each other are already out in the open. But Nadine felt a bit guilty because Ri In had no idea about it. She wasn't planning on telling her friend..or anyone, about it yet. But she was itching to tell someone right now though. Nadine took out her phone from her bag and dialled Gio's number. After a few rings, a gruffy voice answered and Nadine placed the phone away from her ear when there was a loud sound of metal hitting metal and someone yelling to keep the noise down.
"Lo sentimos Nadine!" Gio apologized. "What's up?"
"Are you busy?" Nadine asked. "I call back--"
"Nah, it's fine. The workshop's always in haywire condition but everything's under control" Gio told her and then everything in the background went quiet.
"Where are you now?" Nadine wanted to know as she stood up and stretched herself. "In my office. So...why the sudden call?" Gio asked.
"Can't I call my beloved brother?" Nadine said, stepping out of the desk and walking aimlessly around the studio. Gio snorted. "I have a feeling you want to tell me something. Something juicy. So spill the beans. I ain't got all day you know" he said.
Nadine stopped walking and made a face. Juicy. Spill the beans. He sounded like...Leeteuk. The gossip folks. Nadine took a deep breath before telling the news. "I..kissed someone" she said slowly.
Gio went quiet on the next line and Nadine could hear him breathing. "G..Gio?" Nadine timidly asked waiting for her brother's outburst.
"You kissed someone....was it a boy or girl?" Gio asked and Nadine frowned when she heard him laughing after that. "Yah! That's not funny" she scolded him.
"So you kissed someone! Big deal! And why are you telling me all this? Shouldn't you be saying this to Ri In during one of your slumber party and squealed like little piglets and make a big fuss about it?" Gio asked.
"Ri In have no idea about it. You're the first person I'm telling about it" Nadine said. "But..how come? Nadine, why do you sound so..disappointed in this issue? I thought you wanted something like this to happen? To move on...forget about the past, and look what the future has to give. WAIT. The guy's no good isn't he? That's why you don't sound so happy about it" Gio babbled. "Let me bash that guy up--
"No-no Gio. He's..he's a really..nice guy. REALLY...nice. Sweet and thoughtful and--
"Nice?" Gio guessed and Nadine laughed. "I was about to say..charming..cause it somehow..rhymes with his name actually" she said after thinking for a while.
"What's his name...this guy whom you've just snog" Gio wanted to know.
"His name is Shim Changmin and we were not snogging. Stop making it sound as if me kissing him was like a bad thing" Nadine pointed out as she stood by the window and watching the football team training out at the school field.
"If it wasn't a bad thing, then why are you mourning like your pet hamster just died?! I don't understand you. In fact, I don't understand girls at all" Gio told her with an exasparated sigh.
Nadine let out a frustrated sigh this time. "Because I'm scared...I'm scared the same thing will happen again!" she told him.
Gio snorted. "If you're afraid the past will haunt you, then why did you do it? Why did you go out with him the first place? Why did you make out with him in the--"
"Ok ok FINE. I get what you're saying. Sheesh" Nadine said. "Do you like him Nadine? Do you REALLY like this guy? Cause what happen between you and..Alejandro back then..I have a feeling there's a huge contrast with what you're having right now" Gio said.
"What do you mean a 'huge contrast'?"
"Aish. Must I explain everything to you?" Gio grumbled. "Ok..let's see...well, for one thing, it's obvious that you're..completely mesmerized by Changmin or else you wouldn't be singing praises about him. And the fact that you're scared...is because you do want to be with him. You do have the guts to get closer to him but you still hang on to that..dark shadow of yours. I thought you told me you've forgotten about it. So what's stopping you?" Gio asked.
Nadine shrugged. "I...don't know actually. And since when...you become so..deep?" she wondered. Gio laughed. "Look kid, the main point is not about me being deep or whatsoever. If you're still thinking about Alejandro then you're pretty much a dumb person. That's guy's a goner and I bet he's already rotting behind those bars. He almost destroyed your life and you shouldn't be thinking about him" Gio told her, his voice sounding a bit too angry.
"Gio...calm down" Nadine advised him. She heard her brother taking a deep breath. "Sorry...I just...I get a little frustrated everytime..well..it doesn't matter. As your beloved brother, I advise you to..not mull so much about this Changmin guy. Go with the flow and...I don't know..accept him? And don't forget to bring him home here so we can get to see him before you guys get hitch" Gio teased her.
Nadine gasped. "Gio! That's too far-fetched!" she screamed into the phone causing her brother to laugh even louder. "Marriage wasn't even on my mind. YOU should be the one getting married first....with Sophia" Nadine said, bullying him this time.
"Shut up" Gio snapped but Nadine went on to add fire to the fuel. "Yeap, that's right. Sophia, your high school lab partner that you've been crushing on since...forever! You still don't have the guts to talk to her do you? DO YOU?!"
"I did not just accept a long distance call for this. I'm hanging up!" Gio said.
"Oh wait, before you do, do take note, me and Ri In don't squeal like little piglets...but YOU on the other hand, snores like one. A wild boar, in fact" Nadine said before ending the call. She smirked to herself imagining her brother getting infuriated. She went back to her desk when her phone rang and she saw Changmin's name flashing on the screen. She was about to answer the call when the screen went blank and the ringing stopped.
Nadine stared at her phone, wondering what was going on. She tried switching it on but the light kept dying and she groaned in frustration. "Stupid battery!" she whined throwing the phone back into her desk. Oh well. She would be seeing Changmin this coming Wednesday for Ex-Pac Annual Night Dinner anyway...and this might be a good chance to tell Ri In about it. At least Ri In won't jabber her like a mother hen when Changmin is around.
Nadine neatly cleared the cluttle on her desk and slipped her sketchbook in her bag when she caught sight of the HOT SHOT magazine she had stuffed underneath some sketch papers. She had confiscated it from Dana during Art class and now was wondering what she should do with it. "Maybe I'll...look through it before I throw it away" she muttered to herself as she locked up the studio. Nadine walked down the corridor, flipping through the magazine and was slightly aghast with the amount of gossips and the great lengths the paparazzi would do to intrude a celebrity's life. She flipped to a section where there was an exlusive interview with Han Soo Min, the upcoming designer. There were splashes of pictures from the fashion event and Nadine scanned the two pages to see if there was any pictures of her. She laughed to herself. "Why would there be pictures of ME anyway" she thought foolishly.
Nadine was about to toss the magazine into a bin when a few pictures caught her sight. There were a couple of pictures of Soo Min and Changmin standing together, drinking wine and looking...well, jolly. Soo Min and Changmin in a deep conversation with Soo Min's hand on Changmin's arm. Then there was a picture of the two of them standing at the doorway, with Changmin's hand on Soo Min's back and the girl was doing the same thing as well. There were captions like "Soo Min snagging Ex-Pac's eligible bachelor already?" and Nadine closed the magazine before throwing it into the bin. Nadine knew that these pictures were taken without their consent and to create rumours and well..that's what HOT SHOT is basically about..creating false stories. Nadine shook her head in disgust as the green-eyed monster started taking over her.
Nope...she's definitely not jealous...nu-uh...no way.....Nadine paused as she reached the parking lot when a sickening feeling took over her. Wait a minute. Isn't Soo Min in Japan as well, for her third fashion event outside Korea? Nadine rubbed the back of her neck, suddenly remembering the front page cover of the Entertainment section from the newspaper. She regretted it immediately when she felt jealousy slowly creeping slowly on her and wished she hadn't read the papers this morning.
"Darn it" Nadine muttered. Of all the rainbows of emotions, it was that twinge of resentfulness that she hated the most...
