Junsu stopped typing on his computer and grinned. "Hey Ri In. What's up?" he asked, cradling the phone between his shoulder and ear.
"I think I'm going to be late for the dinner tonight. Remember, me and Sun Mi were supposed to head down to the bridal shop on Monday? Turns out she postpone it to today and...I'm not sure how long I'm going to be there" Ri In told him. "But I told Sun Mi about the dinner and she promised not ---
"I can pick you up from there. Just state the time and place" Junsu offered.
Ri In chuckled. "Aniya. You told me you have to be there slightly earlier remember. Your boss won't be please if he finds out you're--
"Changmin will be late as well. He just texted me about it. I don't think anyone will notice if we come in late. There'll be hundreds of people there anyway. So, time and place?" Junsu asked.
Ri In sighed. "Ok, you win. Pick me up at seven at Bridal Boutique" she said. Junsu laughed. "Sure, I'll see you there".
Junsu placed his phone back on the table and continued typing the report he was doing for the past half an hour. Ever since Changmin had to suddenly take off to Japan for an emergency situation at their headquarters there, Junsu was left behind to do most of the job. He wasn't complaining of course, but he's been working his butt off since Monday that he barely has any time to get a proper sleep. Not to mention that he wasn't able to have a quick lunch with Ri In...let alone to have a proper meal. But most of all, he missed seeing Ri In. Ri In had told him she did not mind that he had to skip their lunch date and that work was more important.
"Don't worry about it Oppa. We'll go for lunch some other time ok?" Ri In had assured over the phone. Yeap. The phone. They've been commnicating over the phone for the past few days, be it texting or calling. Junsu was glad that they were able to keep in touch but it still was not the same, seeing her face, holding her close to him and whenever she laughs, her nose will get all wrinkled up in a cute way.
Junsu leaned forward and hurriedly finished the report. He still has to attend a quick discussion later and then helping Yunho to oversee the dinner preparations for tonight. The faster he finish doing everything, the faster he can meet Ri In at the bridal shop. As he focused his attention on the computer, a suddenl blush appeared on his cheeks, thinking about the conversation he had with Ri In about his dream wedding. Well, it's not exactly his idea of his very own wedding, but he had always like the idea of having a small garden wedding rather than a big event. Maybe the whole idea had started out when he had attended a friend's wedding last year. It was held in a church and he was standing alone at one of the gazebo, admiring the garden the church had at the back and then's when the idea had hit him. It was like a spur of the moment thing but the image of a small, garden wedding still etches in his mind. Reason being because it will be a small and intimate event..and he had liked the idea of having that "cozy and warm" effect the garden scenery will have on everyone. Very fairytale like...
"JUNSU!!" Yunho's voice suddenly interrupted his little day dream and he looked up with a start. "W..What?" Junsu asked, blinking his eyes several times.
"I called you three times and you were practically in screen-saver mode. What's up?" Yunho asked as he entered the room and took a seat infront of Junsu.
Junsu let out a nervous laugh. "Sorry. I was..taking a break" he said sheepishly.
"By sleeping with your eyes open? Very...convincing" Yunho said slowly, tapping his chin. Junsu rolled his eyes. "What do you want?" he asked, stretching his arms above his head.
"You look...dead beat. I heard from the other staff that you've been the last one leaving the office...and at three in the morning?" Yunho wanted to know.
Junsu shrugged. "Well..work is work. And the dateline's getting nearer" he admitted, leaning back on his chair. Yunho shook his head. "I didn't ask you to become a slave here. I understand you have to cover up for Changmin for a while, but don't forget to take a rest once in a while. You look like a zombie now..with those dark circles"
Junsu waved his lecture away. "They'll be gone after a good night's sleep. Now if you excuse me, I have to be at a discussion in exactly five minutes time" he said, shutting down his computer and gathering the necessary items for the meeting.
"Tell you what. You can skip helping me out for the dinner preparations later on. I can go get someone else to assist me. You are free to do whatever you want after your discussion...but don't you dare skip the dinner tonight!" Yunho said in a warning tone.
Junsu laughed. "Of course I won't miss it! You sure you won't need my help?" he asked. Yunho nodded. "You have a good break while you can. I'll see you later tonight"
When the discussion has ended, Junsu was wondering when he will head to. Yunho had told him that he did not wish to see Junsu in the office building and an idea hits him.
"Silly me! I'll go see Ri In of course. She's going to be surprise to see me there" Junsu muttered to himself as he drove his car out of the parking lot. He was getting excited by the minute as he sped down the road. Even though he hasn't seen her for three days, it felt like three years to him. Ok, so he finds it exaggerated but that's how you feel when you're in love right? Junsu drove past Marsha's Coffeehouse and a sudden thought struck him. Yoochun.
Junsu groaned to himself thinking of having a little talk with his best buddy. He wasn't much of a talker when it comes to complicated issues like this. But surprisingly Yoochun had agreed to having a "meet-up session" this week. Yoochun had sound genuinely surprised over the phone but Junsu knew that Yoochun knows what they're going to talk about. There's absolutely no use to beat around the bush when you're talking to that guy. He's a genius. At almost everything. Except maybe when it comes to this...unavoidable mess. Junsu sighed as he parked his car in front of the three storey bridal shop. Frankly speaking, he wasn't looking forward to having a discussion with Yoochun about it. But like what he had said to Ri In, it's better to clear the air since they're all friends.
"Welcome sir. Can I help you with something?" a lady asked behind the counter. Junsu nodded. "Is there a Kim Sun Mi and Jang Ri In here?" he asked politely.
The lady nodded as she stepped out of the counter. "They're at the second floor, in one of our private rooms. I'll take you there" she offered. Junsu climbed up the marble staircase leading them to the second floor and he let out a low whistle as he took in the luxurious setting of the shop. It must have cost a bomb for someone to get their wedding outfit and photos done here. They were about to reach the landing when someone called the lady from the other side of the room.
"Ah..mianhe" the lady told him with an apologetic expression. "That's okay. Just tell me where the room is. I can get there by myself" Junsu assured her.
"They're in Room 15. Just walk straight and turned left" the lady said. Junsu thanked her and strolled down the corridor. When he found the room, the door was slighlty ajar and he could hear Ri In explaning something to Sun Mi. He paused at the doorframe and listened to what she has to say.
"You don't have to choose white actually. There's off-white, cream or ivory available as well. Or you can choose your favorite color" Ri In was saying. Sun Mi laughed. "I don't think anyone will want to see a bride wearing a lime-green wedding gown"
"But that will be a first!" Ri In said. "But seriously, is lime green your favorite color?" she asked. Sun Mi laughed even harder. "No silly! Of course not" she told Ri In and Junsu chuckled at Ri In being blur about it.
"Seriously speaking Ri In, I think I'll go for another dress...from another designer" Sun Mi said. There was a soft rustling sound and Junsu guessed that she was holding out a gown and inspecting it. "But why? I thought you like Domo Adami's?" Ri In asked. Footsteps could be heard and then Junsu heard Sun Mi sighed.
"No..YOU like Domo Adami...you're pratically in love with the bridal couture in Italy" Sun Mi pointed out. Junsu heard Ri In giggling. "Well, yeah. I was a big fan ever since I stumbled upon this fashion magazine featuring their collection. It was...so awesome. Everything about their dresses...was so..dreamy and fairytale like" Ri In said.
"And when a bride wears a Domo Adami collection, their fairytale turns into a reality right?" Sun Mi asked. Ri In laughed. "It doesn't necessarily have to be a Domo Adami gown, any gown will turn it into reality. It's just a matter of choosing the right one" Ri In pointed out.
"And I'm having a hard time picking the right one!" Sun Mi whined. "And that's why I'm here. Let's see what you've written down here. You want something simple yet elegant. Creative yet sophisticated...Man, you do ask for a lot of thing--OWW!" Ri In yelped and Sun Mi laughed.
"So what designer do you have in mind?" Sun Mi asked her. "Well, it doesn't matter which designer you're picking. What's the point of choosing a Vera Wang but you ended up being uncomfortable on that day? No offence to Vera though. I love her works too" Ri In said. Sun Mi laughed at her. "We have a lot of options here but I think they will all be a a big NO for me"
"But you haven't tried them" Ri In pointed out. There was another rustling sound and Junsu heard Sun Mi letting out a frustrated sigh. "Nope..I don't have to try them. See, this neckline doesn't do justice to the body and I don't like the beaded design on this one...and this one...UGH, don't get me started on this" Sun Mi said.
"You're SO....picky!" Ri In told her and Sun Mi chuckled. "Yeah well. That's one of the traits that Yoochun doesn't like when we first met anyway"
Junsu felt his muscles tensed when he heard Yoochun's name being mentioned but he knew that Ri In will handle it like a pro. "And Yoochun's probably going to nag at you for taking a hundred years to pick the perfect dress" Ri In was saying.
"Nah..he knows how important this is. The more he nag, the more I'm going to take my time" Sun Mi said and Ri In gasped. "You're mean!" she said. "So..since you..don't like much what the dresses here have to offer...I was..thinking of...this one" Ri In said. There was a moment of silence and Junsu leaned forward, wondering what was going on.
"Ri In...that's..how..did you find this?" Junsu heard Sun Mi whispering. Ri In chuckled. "Well, let's just say I spend two days and two nights finding something to fit your criteria"
"No kidding! You spend that much of time just for this?!" Sun Mi squealed. "Yeap. It's simple, elegant, creative and sophisticated. Not to mention classic. That's total bonus don't you think? There's ONLY three of these dresses available in Tokyo..so you might want to grab one before they are snatch up fast" Ri In told her.
"A Domo Adami classic eh?" Sun Mi said and Ri In laughed. "Look, I can't help it...I know it may seemed a bit biased with me looking only at my favorite designer but no matter how many dresses I've research on, THIS is the only one that I think will suit your taste. It's okay if you don't like--
"No Ri In...I like it. I...I..LOVE it actually. It's..It's..more like deja vu actually. I feel like I've seen this before..." Sun Mi trailed off and Junsu smiled to himself, knowing that Ri In had made someone's day happier.
"But Ri In, this is more...of the gown that you've been dreaming about right? Ever since you were twelve years old?" Sun Mi asked.
"Yeah...well, it was something like this actually" Ri In told her. "Then you should have this...instead of me" Sun Mi said.
"Don't be daft Sun Mi. There will be other dresses from Domo Adami available all around. You can have this. Trust me, you'll be most beautiful bride anyone has set their eyes on" Ri In assured her.
"But--"
"No buts. Take this...or I'll force you to wear a lime-green wedding gown" Ri In warned her. "Seriously". Junsu chuckled to himself when he heard that.
"Alright...alright. I'll take this dress...if you agree to be my bridesmaid" Sun Mi told her. "W...WHAT?" Ri In asked in a loud voice. Even Junsu was surprised at Sun Mi's offer.
"That's right..be my bridesmaid. And Junsu can be the best man at the wedding. I'm sure Yoochun will agree to that!" Sun Mi said. "I'm going to call him and tell him the good news" she said and then Junsu heard footsteps heading to the door. He looked around and spotted a giant potted plant. He tiptoed quickly towards it and hid behind it just as Sun Mi came out of the room, punching a few numbers on her phone and then walking passed him, oblivious that he was there. When Sun Mi was a bit further from him, he came out of his hiding place and slowly walked to the room. He took a peek and saw Ri In standing in front of a rack filled with wedding gowns in clear plastic. Junsu walked quietly into the room but he ended up bumping at the table and he winced painfully clutching the sore part.
"Sun-M...Oppa?" Ri In asked turning around, her eyes wide opened. "Hey..hi.." Junsu answered in a weak voice as he sat on a couch and rubbing his knee. Ri In giggled as she sat beside him. "You wanted to scare me huh?" she asked.
"But I failed. I know" Junsu grumbled under his breath. Ri In shook her head at his clumsiness. She then leaned forward and kissed him. Junsu kissed her back as he took her in his arms and pulled her closer. He ran his hand up and down her back and then started running his hand in her hair. "Mmm..you smell nice" Junsu muttered in between their kisses. Ri In giggled as they pulled apart. "I've missed you" she whispered and then she frowned.
"What?" Junsu asked, slightly alarmed. "You...spoilt my hair-do" Ri In mumbled as she ran her fingers and patted her hair back in place. "I spent hours trying to get this right" she added as she stood up and went to the full-length mirror.
Junsu chuckled as he sat back on his seat and observed her touching up on her hair. "It's not that bad Ri In, you still look good" he told her. Ri In was wearing a short sleeve short dress with a waist band and floral black and white print that reaches a few inches above her knee and accentuating her figure at the same time. She wore a white hairband with black polka dots while her hair hung loose behind her back.
"I know there's no dress code for the dinner, but are you planning to win someone else's heart tonight...besides me?" Junsu asked, standing behind her. He slipped his hand around her waist and they both swayed gently in each other's presence.
"Hmmm...maybe" Ri In said, giving a mischievious grin to Junsu at the mirror. "You can't....your heart already belongs to me. I forbid you" Junsu muttered, smelling her hair.
"That's very selfish of you Mr Kim" Ri In told him. "I..don't...care" Junsu said nuzzling her neck and holding her close. "Ri In...can I see the wedding dress that you've been...dreaming about..since you were twelve years old?" he asked.
Ri In turned around and raised her eyebrows. "You..were listening?" she asked. "I...I didn't mean to. I didn't want to just barge in while you were talking to her...so...I hope you're not mad at me for listening to what you were saying just now" Junsu said.
Ri In gave him a soft smile and patted his cheeks. "I'm not mad...I'm..abit embarassed actually that you got to hear that part" she said, stepping out of his embrace and walking over to the couch. She picked a loose sheet of paper and handed it to him.
"Wow" Junsu said after looking at the dress. The dress was what she had described to Sun Mi. Classic. Simple. Elegant. Creative. Sophisticated. "You don't mind...letting Sun Mi having it?"
Ri In shook her head as she sat down and smoothed down her dress. "I have a Plan B actually" she said with a giggle. Junsu sat down beside her. "Really? Can I see your Plan B?"
"No, you can't!" Ri In told him. "Wae? Then..when can I see it?" Junsu wanted to know.
"When we...I mean--" Ri In suddenly stopped talking and the dots appeared on her cheek. Junsu grinned and Ri In stood up but he grabbed her arm and she sat back awkwardly, not making eye contact. He was about to say something to her when Sun Mi stepped into the room.
"Oh Junsu-shii! You're already here! Is it time for the dinner already? I'm so sorry if I keep Ri In her for too long" Sun Mi apologized.
Junsu shook his head. "It's no big deal. We still have plenty of time left actually" he told her. Sun Mi smiled gratefully at him. "Ri In's been a great help...and guess what. You will be the best man for our wedding! I already told Yoochun about it and he's up for the idea. Did Ri In tell you about her being the bridesmaid?" Sun Mi asked.
Junsu gave Ri In a sideway glance and shook his head. "No actually...but...I think it's awesome. We're close friends after all" Junsu said and Sun Mi beamed. "Excellent! Well then, I think you guys should be going for the dinner now...don't worry about me, I have everything here under control" she said.
When Junsu and Ri In left Bridal Boutique, Junsu noticed Ri In throwing him a nervous glance but she quickly looked away when Junsu turned to face her. She was about to get into the car when Junsu stopped her and gave her a breathtaking kiss. "W..What..was that...for?" Ri In asked in a breahtless tone, staring at him with wide eyes.
Junsu smirked at her. "Nothing" he told her. "But just so you know, Plan B is still on" he added with a wink.
