Chapter 6

Collide Part 2

In one of Ex-Pac many meeting rooms, two hardworking souls were doing a last minute check-up on the presentation materials before Han Seung Yeon, a well-known celebrity, come marching in. Ex-Pac had struck another deal with Seung Yeon to promote her perfume and her new clothing line two months ago and Changmin’s team was selected to work with her this time. A few of his team members were excited to have the golden opportunity working with Seung Yeon while others fear her diva antics. Changmin, on the other hand, was having mixed feelings but he decided to push it aside and focus on the presentation itself.

“Nervous?” Yunho asked, breaking into his reverie.

“A little actually” Changmin admitted as he deleted an error in one of the presentation slides.

“You will do fine. I was a nervous wreck when I got my first big project as well. I almost peed in my pants when the client started shooting me questions on this and that. I thought he will never stop!” Yunho told the junior.

“But that project was a fund-raising event. We’re talking about Han Seung Yeon here! THE Han Seung Yeon. Ultimate diva of the century” Changmin pointed out, snapping his fingers three times- the diva way, causing Yunho to roar with laughter.

Changmin looked at him in surprise as the guy slapped his knee and shook his head. “That… was…retarded!” Yunho was saying in between breaths.

“So you can actually laugh after all these years? I thought you lose your sense of humor” Changmin told him, quite pleased to see Yunho being jovial again.

Yunho stopped laughing and wiped the tears from his eyes. “What do you mean?” he asked, looking a bit confused.

Changmin shrugged. “Well, I…we..think that maybe you should take things easy these days. BUT, I understand since you’re the VP and there are tons of things to look to, and we..I will be doing the same if I’m in your shoes as well but then at the same time, try to take thing easily—

“Changmin”

Changmin stopped talking and gulped. “S..sorry if I offended you—

Yunho chuckled and patted Changmin’s shoulder. “Thanks for the feedback. Did you know that you’re the first one to do that? Junsu is afraid to say it; he’s always whining and Yoochun..well, since he’s such a poetic guy, he always speaking in riddles and I can never get what he’s trying to say”

Changmin raised his eyebrows in surprise. “Really? So you knew about this the whole time?”

“Yeap. I was wondering when one of you will step up and give me an honest opinion about it. But that doesn’t mean I’m faking being serious. I’m really passionate about this job which is why I have to be that way”

“Have to? Hyung, that’s dumb. When work is based on passion, it won’t feel like work anymore. It will become your own playground. That’s what you told us remember?” Changmin pointed out.

Yunho nodded slowly. “Yeah..but I have a bigger responsibility now. And yes, I admit that I’ve been hard on you guys lately, but that’s because the old man’s been breathing down my neck. Don’t’ tell anyone I said that”

Changmin chuckled. “You’re feeling the heat huh?” he teased the older guy.

Yunho rolled his eyes. “Tell me about it. But don’t worry you guys will definitely deserve a break after this”

“Really?! Yes! My wish is finally coming true” Changmin whooped.

“It won’t come true if SY is not impressed with your presentation. You’ve heard of how fickle-minded she is” Yunho pointed out, straightening his tie.

Changmin snorted. “Puh-leeze, this is Shim Changmin we’re talking about” he said, standing up, giving Yunho a fake haughty look.

“Oho..i see. Alright then, I leave everything to you. But wait, I remembered SY requesting for her breakfast. I don’t see it anywhere” Yunho said as he walked to the door.

“Her breakfast should be on the way” Changmin said, checking his watch. He then did a double take when he realized Junsu was late. He was supposed to be here ten minutes ago but he was nowhere in sight.

Just then, Yoobin, one of Junsu’s team mates burst into the room, with two paper bags and nearly bumping into Yunho. “She’s not here right?” she gasped. Her eyes then widened when she saw Yunho standing beside her. “Oh sir..so sorry, I didn’t see you there” she said and bowed.

“It’s fine. You’re not here to get SY’s autograph or pictures aren’t you?” Yunho questioned her. He was rather strict about the whole paparazzi policy whenever there’s a celebrity present in the building.

Yoobin shook her head. “I got her breakfast. Junsu told me to take it for him while he’s on the way to the hospital” she explained as she set the bags on the long rectangular table and prepared everything.

Yunho and Changmin looked at each other when they heard that. “Hospital? What happened?” Yunho asked in a worried voice.

“Did something happen to him? Or was it his brother?” Changmin wanted to know.

“I have no idea actually. He told me that someone fainted and needs help immediately. That’s why he called me and told me to come down to the coffee house and take the stuff there. But by the time I got there, he was already gone. I wanted to ask the waitress what happened, but she was busy with the customers so I took the bags and left” Yoobin told them.

Yunho nodded. “I’ll get to the bottom of this. I’m sure Ga-In knows about it as well. Changmin, don’t get distracted by the news, focused on your presentation. SY will be here any minute. Call your team for a final briefing” he ordered.

“Yes sir” Changmin replied automatically and he whipped out his cell phone.

“I’m done” Yoobin declared after adding the finishing touches to SY’s morning meal. Changmin mouthed thanks to her as she left the room with Yunho.

Within a few seconds, Changmin’s team came trudging into the room, talking excitedly amongst themselves. The butterflies in Changmin’s stomach started to grow twice as much and he kept wondering what had happened to Junsu.

“Hey boss. You alright? You seemed to be in a daze?” one of his team mates asked.

Changmin nodded. “I’m fine. Is everything in order?” he asked the whole room.

Five heads nodded enthusiastically. “I couldn’t sleep. I was up all night worrying about this deal” a young girl spoke up.

“No wonder you look like a zombie today” someone said. The whole room erupted with laughter while the girl turned red.

Changmin cleared his throat and everyone kept their mouth shut. “Enough playtime. I just received a text saying she’s at the car park right now. I want everyone to be clear of what they are doing. We could not afford to make mistakes since the VP have place high hopes on us. This may not be the first time SY’s working with us but I want everyone to give their 101 percent in this project ok?”

“Yes sir! Delta Team is ever ready!” The whole team high-fived each other and wished each other good luck.

There was another beep from Changmin’s phone and almost immediately, everyone held their breath.

“Is she here?!!”

“Wait, does my tie look okay?”

“How’s my hair?”

Changmin glanced up from his phone. “She’s here guys” he said, meeting their eyes. “Let’s do this!”
