Chapter 61

In Repair Part 2

Nadine tugged her hand slowly from Changmin's grip but he let out a low groan and gripped at her hand with a slight frown on his face. Nadine covered her mouth with her other free hand to suppress her laughter as she watched him settled himself comfortably. She was sitting on the couch, with his head on her lap and his legs dangling over the end of the arm rest. It was not the most ideal sleeping or napping position but Changmin soon dozed off in the blink of an eye and Nadine can't help but stare at his face for a full five minutes. She like the way his eyelashes cast litle shadows and not to mention his eyes. Those eyes that she got drown in everytime she look at him. She knew resisting him was hard and she had work extremely well to avoid falling for him but alas, Cupid's got the bullseye shot. Does that mean she's ready to have a second chance at having another relationship?

The talk she had with Ri In had got her thinking. Ri In was happy that she finally found someone but Ri In had no idea that Nadine was still abit unsure of getting involve again. Yes, she admit that she was afraid of getting hurt..but there was a voice telling her that Changmin is not capable of doing that. She wants to believe that voice but likewise, old wounds are hard to heal? Nadine did not realise that she was absently combing her hand gently through Changmin's hair, the other hand still in his grip. Her eyes were roaming around in his office, taking note of how spick and span it looked and she suddenly felt slightly embarassed thinking of her cluttered desk at the teacher's room. And then not to mention how she could not find the time to straighten out a few things in her own bedroom. Her eyes then fell upon the bottle of perfume on his desk, beside his computer and she immediately recognized it as SY's newest perfume. It was supposed to capture the essence of spring but Nadine had personally felt that the scent was a huge flop. It was too..fruity and sweet. Everyone was given a free bottle during the fashion show but Nadine had poured away the liquid and kept the bottle instead.

"I don't like the scent" Changmin mumbled and Nadine looked down at him, her hand resting on his forehead. His eyes was still close though. "What?" she asked.

Changmin lazily opened one eye and gave her a lopsided smile. "I think SY's perfume is too strong...I prefer your scent" he said, looking at her.

Nadine felt the heat creeping slowly up to her cheeks and she smoothly removed her hand from his strong grip and patted his stomach. "Get up" she told him but Changmin wouldn't budge. "I want to sleep some more" Changmin said quickly and shut his eyes. He crossed his arms and shifted himself..more like cuddled himself nearer to Nadine until his face was touching her stomach. She giggled and pushed him lightly. "That tickles" she said, patting his face. She saw that he was smiling with his eyes close. "Fifteen minutes".

"Twenty" Changmin said.

"Ten minutes and that's final" Nadine warned him and Changmin groaned. "But I'm tired" he whined, rubbing his eyes.

"And I can't feel my legs!" Nadine told him and Changmin chuckled. "Your head weighs a ton" she added and Changmin slowly sat up. Nadine stood up and was glad when she felt the blood running slowly in her legs. She was straigtening her jeans when she felt Changmin's arm snaked around her waist and pulled her down. "Hey!" she cried out when she landed on his lap. She giggled when Changmin nuzzled her neck.

"You have to st--" Whatever Nadine wanted to say was cut off when Changmin placed his lips on hers. Nadine felt her whole body weakening as she returned back the kiss. It was a slow tender moment as she slowly ran her fingers in his hair and she felt Changmin's hands going under her shirt, his warm palms giving her body a jolt.

"I could get use to this" Changmin murmured as he left her lips and started kissing her jawbone and then moving slowly to her neck. Before Changmin managed to find her weak spot, she pushed his shoulders slightly and shook her head with a playful smile on her face. "Get back to work" she told him as she stood up again and ruffled his hair. The reason of Changmin going back to the office on a Saturday was to finish up some of his work and not to have a make out session with her.

"Can you not be...'all-teacher' when you're with me?" Changmin complained as he dragged his feet to his desk. He shuffled the papers on his desk and made a face.

Nadine laughed. "What's that supposed to mean? You were the one who told me you wanted to finish your work by today" she retorted, walking around the room and stretching her arms.

"But don't I deserve a break?" Changmin asked, consulting a report file and typing a few commands on the keyboard.

"You already had three breaks" Nadine pointed out and Changmin chuckled. "There's no point arguing with you isn't it" he said.

Nadine gave him a sheepish grin and shrugged. "I need to use the Ladies, be right back" she said. Changmin nodded as she left his office.

Nadine was washing her hands when her phone rang. She grabbed a few paper towels, dried her hands and checked out the caller. Her heart started thumping when Jaejoong's name flashed on the screen. It was no doubt that she had forgotten about him. Nadine gulped as her phone kept on ringing. Should she answer it? But why is it that she's trembling with fear right now?

Nadine gingerly pressed the Answer button and held the phone to her ear. "Yoboseyo?" she asked in a casual tone.

"Yah Nadine! It's about time you answer the phone!" Jaejoon said in a chirpy voice on the other line. Nadine leaned on the sink and realised her fingers were shaking when she tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. She let out a nervous laughter and hoped Jaejoong won't notice it. "Yeah, I've been..busy. How have you been?"

"Busy huh? Doing another art piece? Need me as a model?" Jaejoong asked jokingly and Nadine laughed. "No..not another art piece. I'm helping the students to prepapre for this competition they're entering" she replied.

"Sounds cool" Jaejoong commented. "Yeah..they sort of enter the competition without my consent actually" Nadine told him as she walked around the washroom. She was pushing the cubicle doors one by one when there was a knock on the door. "Nadine? Are you ok?" Changmin asked, his voice sounding worried.

"Are you..busy right now?"Jaejoong asked.

"Umm..no..not really. But I have---"

"You have to go attend to something. I understand" Jaejoong interrupted and Nadine noticed the hurt in his voice. There was another knock on the door and Nadine walked to the door and opened it. She gave Changmin a bright smile and pointed to the phone. "Ooops..sorry" Changmin mouthed. Nadine waved off his comment as they walked together back to his office.

"You totally forgot about the dinner we're supposed to go" Jaejoong was saying on the other line. Nadine gasped and laughed. "Mianhe" she said, rubbing her neck, suddenly feeling guilty. When they reached Changmin's office, she was surprised to see that his computer was already switched off and his cluttered desk was in order. The blinds were also drawn down and Changmin winked at her. "I'm a fast worker" he said, before going to his desk and picked up his phone.

"You're with a friend?" Jaejoong suddenly asked as Nadine sat down on the couch and packed her stuff. "Umm...yeah. Hey, about the dinner...how about next week? Sounds good?" she asked, speaking in a rather low voice. She hoped Changmin or Jaejoong did not noticed the difference.

"Hmmm..I'm up for it. You're sure work won't be getting in the way?" Jaejoong questioned her. "Nah..I don't think so. I'll try to squeeze in though" Nadine assured him.

"Sounds good to me. I'll let you decide where to eat. Is Wednesday okay with you?" Jaejoong asked.

"Yeap..totally fine with me" Nadine told him. After they both hung up, Nadine heard a cartoonish-tune somewhere and she glanced up at Changmin who was concentrating on a game he was playing on his phone. She grabbed her bag and stood beside him and saw him playing Pinball. She laughed at him when the words "Game Over" appeared on the screen and Changmin groaned. "No way!" he exclaimed. He turned to Nadine who was grinning from ear to ear. "Let's see you beat my score then since you're laughing so much" he challenged her.

Nadine raised her eyebrows. "Oh I can beat you ANYTIME" she told him, crossing her arms.

"Really? How about we have a duel now?" Changmin suggested. "Just state the game. Any game. And we will battle it out" he added.

Nadine rolled her eyes. "You're not serious" she said as he pulled her arm and stepped out of the office. Changmin locked the door and nodded. "I AM serious. So, what game?" he said, throwing the keys in the air and catching it.

Nadine thought for a while. "BomberMan" she told him and Changmin sniggered. "That's easy! BomberMan it is" he said in a smug tone as they walked down the corridor to the lift lobby.

"Oh yeah. Let's see you beat me in that" Nadine said, poking his ribs. Changmin laughed and placed his arm around her shoulder. "Winner gets to do ANYTHING he or she wants to the loser" he told her.

"Anything huh?" Nadine asked giving him a sly look.

"What are you thinking about?" Changmin asked as they stepped into the lift. He pressed the button and the lift door slid closed. "Nothing..just...a bunch of stuff I'm planning to do to you when I win the game" Nadine told him and Changmin shook his head.

"What makes you so sure that you'll be the champion?" Changmin asked. They reached the destined floor and bickered all the way to his car. The bickering continued all the way to the arcade and Nadine was amazed to see the stubborn nature in Changmin.

When they reached the arcade, the place was already packed with youths and the loud music blaring from the speakers. After Changmin exchanged a few coins for the tokens, he dragged Nadine to the BomberMan machine.

"You're ready?" Changmin asked her as he slotted in the tokens. Nadine smirked. "Are YOU?" she asked him as she cracked her knuckles.

The moment the machine accepted the tokens and the word START flashed on the screen, both Nadine and Changmin focused their attention on the game. Back at home, Nadine was the crown champion at BomberMan, after successfully beating most of her friends. When some of the arcade-goers found about it, they too had wanted to have a duel with her but came out as losers. Even her brother had a hard time beating her to it. She could go on for hours just playing this game.

"Man! Hate to say this....but you're good!" Changmin commented after his BomberMan died for the second time. Nadine's BomberMan was still up and running and she gave Changmin a wink. "Told you so" she told him as she expertly moved her BomberMan around the maze and successfully blasted three villains in one go.

"Damn it! I'm going to lose!" Changmin cried out in panic. Nadine giggled at his troubled state. "Just give it up already" she told him but Changmin shook his head. "I'm not going to make it easy for you" he told her.

And he was right. After the fourteenth stage, Changmin was still going strong. Even Nadine was amazed at his willingness to stay in the game. And by then, her first live of her BomberMan was already used up. "Hah!" Changmin mocked her and Nadine stepped on his foot. Changmin used his elbow to poke her arm but she stepped onto his foot again.

"Not fair!" Changmin told her with a laugh. Nadine laughed along with him. She noticed that Changmin was struggling a bit by the minute and it was obvious that he was going to lose.

"HAH!" Nadine cried out triumphantly when Changmin's BomberMan died and hers was still going on. Changmin groaned and Nadine laughed at him as she continued playing.

"See..I told you" Nadine said, her eyes on the screen and successfully moving on to the next stage. But she purposely ended the game and Changmin looked at her in surprise. "I could go on for hours if no one stops me" she told him, patting his cheek. "You're the loser!"

Changmin rolled his eyes. "Yeah yeah. No need to rub it in" he said in a dejected tone. Nadine chuckled and pulled his arm. "Come on now, no need to brood over a small game" she told him as they left the arcade.

"Your ego's kinda bruise now huh?" Nadine asked him, walking back to his car. Changmin took a deep breath and shrugged. "Hmmm..maybe..a girl just defeated me! That's a first" he told her. Nadine leaned on the car door and raised an eyebrow. "There's a first for everything. You're ready for your punishment?" she asked him with a playful smile.

Changmin squeezed his eyes shut and shook his head. "Oh come on!" Nadine begged him. "You can't back out now!'

"Me and my big mouth" Changmin muttered as he placed his hands on each of Nadine's side, trapping her. "What do you have in mind?" he asked, looking at her deep in the eyes.

Nadine tiptoed and planted a kiss on his lips. "I have something in mind..but not for today" she told him with a wink. She chuckled at his crestfallen face and nodded.

"You're not...serious? But why?" Changmin asked, standing straight up. Nadine shrugged. "For the fun of it" she simply replied.

"You trickster" Changmin told her, pulling her into his arms. Nadine's eyes widened and she struggled to get out but Changmin was strong for her. "Y..Yah.." Nadine started and Changmin gave her a cheeky grin.

"Aww..come on. Don't do this to me" Nadine whined. Changmin bend his head lower and pressed his lips on hers. Her mind went fuzzy after that and she knew that Changmin was trying to distract her and hoping to break off the 'punishment-treaty' thing. Nadine was the one who broke off the kiss first and shake her head. "I'm not letting you off that easy" she told him.

Changmin made a face. "Fine..fine" he said, ruffling her hair. "I treat you to ice cream for the time being then" he added.

"I won't hurt you...so don't worry about it" Nadine assured him, getting into his car. "You're doing this on purpose right?" Changmin started the engine and Nadine grinned at him.

"Whatever it is, I just hope it won't involve me doing...anything stupid" Changmin grumbled.

"Stupid? As in...not even walking on the street in your...birthday suit?" Nadine teased him and Changmin gaped at her. Nadine burst out laughing at his shocked expression.

"W...WHAT?" Changmin asked, his voice rising into different octaves. Nadine slapped her knee, still laughing at him. "Are you sure you're Nadine?" he asked.

"Hey...it's either that..or dancing in your birthday suit. Which one you'll take?" Nadine asked, in between laughter.

Changmin shook his head. "You're unbelievable" he said but there was a small smile playing on his lips. Nadine took a deep breath and calmed herself down. "Mianhe. I didn't mean to scare you" she told him, rubbing her eyes.

As Nadine and Changmin continued to tease and argue with each other, they were unaware of the lone figure watching them from afar....
