Chapter 17

I Sent my heart to you via an email.

Ariel surreptitiously yawned. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Mary turn and frown at her and she gave Mary an apologetic smile, “It was a friend’s birthday. I couldn’t NOT go!”

Mary shrugged. “I’m not the one who has to work with the effects of a late night still clouding my eyes. Anyway, your instructor is late.”

Ariel and Mary were at one of the more prestigious dance studios downtown. When they had arrived, the receptionist had showed them into a parlor like room to wait for the instructor who was infamous for his impatience and lack of punctuality.

“I don’t mind,” Ariel grinned and lay back on the huge cushions scattered on the plush sofas.

Ariel once again thought about the real issue that had kept her awake. She had left the party soon after her run-in with Mike which had left her in no mood to socialize. Ariel had spent the entire night ruminating over his words. She dreaded seeing him again after that conversation which she had to admit, had been brutally honest on his part. What was she to do? Ariel knew that if she didn’t find a solution, the work would suffer and she knew she owed it to Tuesday to do the best she had in her.

The answer had come to her the same time morning had come to the new day. And as the day blushed red in delight, Ariel had smiled in relief and finally fallen asleep. As a consequence, she had woken up late, composed the email to Mike and then rushed over to the studio to find that the dance instructor was nowhere to be found.

The email:

Mike,
As difficult as it is for me to admit, I am glad we finally had that conversation. It is absurd that we had to be in such a situation where escape was impossible to finally confront each other… but this confrontation was inevitable. I am glad that it happened. I said a lot of things, harsh things which upon further reflection, I didn’t mean. We have to work together and we are both professionals so I propose that we, for the time we have to maintain contact with each other, we forget that there is any history between us. I owe it to Tuesday and you owe it to Daniel. When I meet you next, it will be as if I have never met you before and if you can reciprocate, if you are willing to play out this charade for the sake of both our sanities, respond in kind.

Sincerely,
Ariel.

Author's note: There, they can be sorta kinda friendly now. Yay for me. Yay for you. Yay for the ice cream truck. Okay Nafiza, stop. Sorry. It's been a loooooooong day. Stupid school. Isn't it hot nowadays? My uni's next a nude beach, LOL. I was tempted, ladies, sooo tempted. Haha. So you have noticed the new titles to the chapters? And how they are all weird? be warned that sometimes me being the teapot I am, put a title to a chapter/thing just cause I like the sound of the title and not because it has anything to do with the chapter. used to drive my english teacher crazy.

And since I lurve you guys so much, here's something I can do for you. If you have any one you'd like in the story, any specific actor/actress close to your heart, you'd like to see in the story, tell me. Or if there is any scene you'd want to see in here, besides people falling in love with each other, that all depends on my fingers and the keyboard. I do ramble on, don't I? Anyway. I don't make any promises and if u don't have anyone/anything, it's all gravy. Okay okay, I'll shut up now. Night!
