Damon whipped his head to Ariel. “Oh? Did I say something terribly funny?” He asked.
Mike looked at Ariel curiously. Ariel blushed and shook her head furiously. “No, nothing. I was just thinking about something.”
“Okay. Well, if you are done thinking, let’s see how good your coordination is and how hard I have to work!”
Three hours later…
“My God, his name is not Damon, it must be Demon.” Ariel sank to the floor gratefully. “I’m exhausted.”
Mike said nothing, lying face down on the floor. Sweat streaming down his back.
Damon, for all that his appearance labeled him flighty, was every bit as professional as Ariel. He knew his job well and he was determined to produce the best results. He had about two months to teach Ariel and Mike to move as though they had been dancing their entire life.
“You alive?” Ariel poked Mike.
He rolled over abruptly and Ariel reared back.
“No.” He mumbled.
“Haha. Poor you.” Ariel smiled, their old camaraderie slipping back quietly and subtly.
“You’ve improved though. Before-“Ariel stopped realizing that she couldn’t comment on the past since she had ‘just met him.’
“He’s going to kill me. I’m certain of it.” Mike sat up. “And do you know what he told me to wear tomorrow?”
He looked so horrified that Ariel burst out laughing.
“It’s not FUNNY! The man wants me to wear LEOTARDS!” The look of absolute horror on his face was so pronounced. “Ethan will NEVER let me live it down if he finds out.”
“Then don’t tell him.”
“Joe’s got a big mouth.”
Ariel grinned. “It’ll be our secret.”
Mike narrowed his eyes. “Which translated means you will use this as blackmail material?”
Ariel smiled airily. “Did I say that?”
“It sounded like it.”
“Well it must have been what I was thinking then.”
Suddenly her smile faded as she realized they were basically having the same conversation they had had 3 years ago.
“Ah well. I think I’ll go shower and then go.” Ariel got up, feeling self-conscious all of a sudden.
Mike nodded politely and Ariel left.

After the initial dance practice together, Ariel and Mike were taught at separate times due to the fact that Mike was filming a drama.
A month passed busily for Ariel.
On a sunny Tuesday, Angela Cai called Ariel to inform her about the upcoming press conference to announce the drama.
Ariel immediate felt sick to her stomach. The media were like vultures, circling a celebrity’s life so as to garner any kind of information they could and then to embellish the facts so that their papers/magazines/TV shows would be popular. How would they react when they found out that Ariel would be filming with Mike? Would they dredge up all the rumors, the past?
Ariel called Angela, concerned.
“Hi Angela? This is Ariel, I was wondering if I could meet you for a talk?”
She made an appointment for the next day and hung up.
After her dance rehearsal, Ariel called Rainie.
“Hi, I’m not able to come to the phone right now, I know, I know, you miss me a lot, but leave me a message and I’ll get back to you, mmmmwah!”
“Hmm.” Ariel decided to go shopping by herself since she didn’t feel like hanging out with anyone other than Rainie at the moment. She barely had any ‘me’ time nowadays and she craved some time alone with her thoughts. She drove to city and found a parking spot. Then putting on dark glasses and a hat, she got out of the car, soaking in the sun as she wandered slowly up and down the various streets.
Suddenly she caught sight of a bookstore. “Bookaholics,” it was called.
“Ah.” And another memory assailed her.
