“Ariel!” Wu Chun sighting her, jumped up and walked over to her, handing her a bunch of daisies.
Mike, Ethan and Joe were watching Ariel talk to Wu Chun and Ethan said grumpily, “He gave flowers to Rainie too and she just about floated away from happiness.”
“I think I should call Immigration and have him deported.” Mike muttered.
“On what grounds?” Ethan asked.
“On trying to invade territories best left alone.” Joe quipped and the three of them laughed.
Jiro, hearing their laughter, walked over to them and sat down gloomily. “What’s so funny?” He asked.
“You wouldn’t get it.” Joe said. “Hey, didn’t you tell me you were bringing your date?”
Jiro sighed gloomily again.
“What?” Mike asked.
“I told her I wanted to go out with her and she thought I was telling her to get out. So she left and told me not to call her anymore.”
Ethan, Joe and Mike looked at each other, trying very hard to control their laughter. Finally they couldn’t and they started laughing again loudly. Joe’s laughter making Ethan and Mike laugh even harder.
“Fine! Laugh at my broken heart.” Jiro sulked.
“This is what you get for dating foreign chicks.” Joe said.
“Less talk and more work!” A stern voice said.
“Oh Ariel, my saviour!” Jiro jumped up and threw his arms around Ariel, earning glares from both Mike and Joe. “I need a hug.”
“Aww, what happened, Jiro?” And Jiro led her off to regale her about his latest heartbreak.
Suddenly Ethan gasped.
Rainie was standing close to Wu Chun and talking animatedly with him.
The three of them fixed deadly glares on Wu Chun and Rainie.
“Hey, are you guys done yet? I’m hungry!” Cai Yi Zheng said walking up to them. She stopped speaking when she saw their expressions and turned to look in the direction they were glaring in.
“Why are you glaring at Wu Chun?” She asked curiously. “He’s a nice guy!”
“I wish he’d go be nice somewhere else.” Ethan muttered.
“Like around Ella.”
“I don’t think that would be a good idea,” Rui Ja said joining their conversation.
“Rainie!!” Ariel yelled all of a sudden. Rainie looked up, looking around to see where Ariel was.
Ariel motioned Rainie over and she dragged Wu Chun over to where Ariel was sitting with Jiro. Soon the four of them were huddled together with their heads close together.
“Hmph!” Mike said, stabbing the meat with a poker.
“The food’s ready!” Joe yelled out.
A short while later they were all sitting on a long rectangular table filled to the brim with food. Ariel was still running around making sure everyone had everything until finally Rainie dragged her off to sit and eat.
“Joe-“ Petty Yang started to say something and Ariel stopped her.
“Better not say anything to him right now, he’s eating.” She said laughing.
“Hey, I can do two things at the same time!” Joe protested. “Can’t I, Mike?
“Ask Ethan.” Mike said.
“Not when you are eating.” Cai Yi Zheng said. Joe looked up with a hungry expression on his face and Yi Zheng laughed. “Now I know how the food feels before you eat it.” And everyone laughed.
Rainie was busy whispering with Wu Chun who was sitting beside her. Ethan glowered at them and Rainie noticed.
“Why are you glowering at me?” She asked frowning.
“I’m not glowering at you!” He said glowering.
“Whatever.” She rolled her eyes and went back to talking to Wu Chun.
Ethan sighed and looked at Mike who smiled beatifically at him.
“Why are you smiling? Aren’t you mad he is monopolizing Rainie’s time?” Ethan frowned.
“Nope. Rainie’s monopolizing his.” Mike said still smiling.
“You weren’t so agreeable when he was talking to Ariel.” Ethan replied.
Mike took a big bite of food to avoid answering.
Wu Chun smiled a bit dazedly at Rainie.
“You want to do what?” He asked.
“Go bungee jumping.” She said earnestly.
“Then why don’t you?” He asked.
“Cuz her mom will kick her ass.” Ariel said from Wu Chun’s other side.
Rainie hmphed. “She doesn’t have to know.” She said staring pointedly at Ariel who smiled innocently.
“Here,” and Ariel exchanged the celery on her plate for the carrots on Wu Chun’s in an unconscious gesture of familiarity.
Mike stopped smiling. Joe narrowed his eyes. Ethan smirked.
Rainie kicked Joe under the table.
“Oww!” Joe yelled loudly and everyone turned to look at him.
“She kicked me!” He said pointing to Rainie who was calmly eating her food looking as though butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth.
“Don’t accuse my sweetheart of such dastardly crimes!” Ariel defended.
“What about the bruise on my shin?” Joe pouted.
“Mike will take care of it for you.” Rainie said and Ariel grinned.
Mike who had been trying to sneak one of the chicken legs from Ethan’s plate jumped at the sound of his name.
“I didn’t do it!” He exclaimed. And everybody burst into laugher.
“Hey Wu Chun, how is your business going?” Joe suddenly asked and then started a lengthy discussion about businesses and the differences in the economy of Brunei and Taiwan and fitness.
“Hey Rainie,” Ethan whispered. “I need to talk to you about something.”
Rainie looked over at him. “What?”
“Later.”
“I don’t want to.”
Ethan scowled. “You’d better.”
“Or else?” Rainie taunted.
“Or else I’ll tell everyone about the time you-“
Rainie’s eyes widened and she shook her head frantically.
“Okay, okay!”
After dinner, they cleared up a space in the center of the backyard and Ariel put on some music and they were just about to start the dancing when the doorbell rang.

Author's Note: Here's this extra long chapter for you. And I promise I'll be studying from now on and not writing unless of course inspiration strikes. I've been reading a lot of shoujo recently. Is it healthy to be in love with a picture? I'll take Joe (and his dimples, the man has the most gorgeous dimples.. droooool), who's at the door? At 10 30 in the evening? Should I go check?...
