“So what do you think, Ariel?” Mary, her manager asked.
Ariel got up from the chair she was sitting on and walked over to the sofa, flopping down on it.
“I want to take it.” She finally said, leaning back to look at Mary. “Should I, do you think?”
“In business terms and as a career move, that would be a wise decision. Angela forwarded a copy of the script to me and I read it last night too. I must say though, it is a very intense role and while I have every faith in your abilities and in fact, I would love to see you do it, the decision is ultimately yours.”
“Hmm. Do you know who they are going to cast as the male lead?” Ariel asked. For the most part, she was unconcerned about who she acted against, trusting the casting director’s decision but after – well, let’s just say there were some people she didn’t really want to work with again.
“And what about the contract?” Ariel asked.
“They are being very generous with the money but it is completely binding which means that once you sign it, there will be no way to get out of it without any legal repercussions. That’s why I think we should think very, very carefully before we go ahead with it. And I heard through the grapevine that the actors considered for the male lead are Alan Luo, Wu Chun and Ruan Jin Tiang, that is Ethan.”
“Hmm. It’s going to be physically intense, isn’t it? I’m going to have to learn to dance.” Ariel wondered out loud.
“Yeah, Angela did say that she’d need you to start training immediately if you signed on. Shooting will start end of August and it’s beginning of May now and since you are between dramas right now, you should have plenty of time to get ready.”
“I’m actually looking forward to that, the dancing I mean.” Ariel smiled. “It’s going to be awesome to do something new, something I don’t quite know how to. Ha, I’m sure Rainie will help me.”
“How is she?” Mary asked.
Rainie was one of Ariel’s closest friends. Usually the two were inseparable but since Rainie had been out of the country, in China for some promotion, Ariel hadn’t seen her for over two weeks.
“I spoke to her on the phone the other day; she’s having the time of her life flirting with the “hot guys” in China.” Ariel grinned.
“I’m going to do it!” Ariel sat up, feeling lighter now that she had made the decision. “You can tell Ms. Cai that I accept the role.”
“Are you sure?” Mary asked. “You do know that once you commit to this, you can’t back out.”
“Of course, Mary. I didn’t get my reputation as a professional by being fickle about my commitments, you know that.”
“Yes, but it is my job to be cautious. Well, anyway, I’ll call her and then let you know when the official contract signing is.”
