Chapter 79

Last Words and some 'lost scenes' of Tuesday

So I thought that I'd share some scenes that I wrote but didn't use because they didn't seem to fit into any of the chapters, kinda like, NG's? Cept written. Lol. Anyway, here you go...

----------------------------------
“So like a girl!” Mike grumbled loudly as he trailed after Ariel down the only street in the town. “Having a craving for ice cream in the middle of the night, in the middle of nowhere; where there are more trees than people. SO LIKE A GIRL!”

“Like a girl? Of course I’m a girl! I’m SO glad you noticed, He Jun Xiang.” Ariel looked back with a saccharine sweet smile. “Are you complaining?”

“Do I value my life? Yes I do. Very much.” Mike said under his breath. Then loudly he replied to Ariel. “Complaining? Who me? Why never! I would never dare to do such a thing.”

--------------------------------

"Why don't you just admit that you are scared of heights, Joe?" Ariel said impatiently.

"I am NOT scared of heights! I am The Great Zheng Yuan Cheng!" Joe said gripping the bars of the roller coaster hard.

"Who's afraid of heights." Ariel replied.

"I said I am NOT-" Just the the roller coaster started down from the top and Joe gave up pretending. "Mommmyyyyyyy!!!!"

------------------------------

Tuesday took the palette of paints in one hand and a brush on the other. She made Daniel take off his shirt, lie back and close his eyes.

"You are my canvass." Tuesday painted a sun on Daniel's tummy and Daniel protested, "It's tickles!"

"Canvasses aren't ticklish!" Tuesday said to Daniel smacking him lightly with her paintbrush.

-------------------------------

“Hey Winnie!” Ariel hiccupped on the phone.

“Yi Chen. Hi!” Winnie replied.

“Is Joe around?” Ariel asked, hiccupping again.

“Ariel, are you drunk?” Winnie asked.

“Drunk? Who, me? No, never!”

“Yes. I’m drunk. Is he around?”

“No. I haven’t seen him at all.” Winnie replied with a quick glance at Joe who was sitting on the couch nursing a drink. “Are you okay, Yi Chen?”

Ariel gave a little sniff and took another drink from her can of beer. “Well. My best friend. You know, Xiao Zong? He’s not my best friend anymore.”

“Aw Ariel.”

“Uh huh.” Ariel wiped a stray tear with the back of her hand. “And all I did was ask him if he liked me. You know, like Xiang Qin liked Zhi Shu? Like that.”

Ariel fell silent. Then she sat down on the couch, cradling the phone against her shoulder.

“And you know what Xiao Zong said? He said he could never love me that way cuz. Cuz I have too many issues. And he doesn’t have time. I don’t know Winnie. It hurt me so bad. He’s my best friend. No no no. He WAS my best friend.”

“Maybe you need to talk to him again. Do you love him?” Winnie asked quietly.

“Love him? I love him. He’s my best friend. But love, love? Oh Winnie. I’ve made such a mess. Such a big mess.”

“What’s the matter Ariel?” Winnie sounded more concerned.

“Well. I might have gone and fall in love with Mike.” Ariel let out a sob. She hung up abruptly.

Winnie hung up the phone on his side and turned to Joe. “You heard?” He asked.

“I did.” Joe said quietly.

“Isn’t this what you wanted?” Winnie asked.

“Yeah. This is what I wanted.” Joe replied quietly.
