“Doctor, when will my son wake up?” Ming-Ming asks standing out at the glass window looking at Jackie, “Soon, he’s all right now, please don’t be so worry. However he’s still really weak, I am sure he’ll be awake soon, so you get some rest to Mrs. Yuen.” The doctor said.
“Oh, where is Mr. Yuen today? Is he coming…?” he asks, Ming-Ming lowers her head and her heart felt a tight squeeze, “I am sorry, I am too nosy…” the doctor said realizing that Chi Lam was the one who blood type matches with Jackie, so he should be the father. “I have to go now, I’ll come back later to check on Jackie, you can come in and sit with him, but I would prefer you have some sleep, you’re still weak, Mrs. Yuen…” the doctor said smiling at her and he left.
Ming-Ming went into the room and sat down next to Jackie’s bed, she brought his little hand up to her cheek, “Jackie, mommy’s here, don’t be scare, you’re fine now!” she said smiling stroking his face, “I have something to tell you Jackie, but I afraid you cant stand it, it’s too heavy, too hard and too pressure for you to carry, I’ll wait until you grown up a little bit more and tell you ok?” she said, smiling sadly, her heart ache more than ever…looking at Jackie’s peaceful sleeping face, his head was wrapped in white band. She felt tears running down, but she ignores it and keeps on staring at Jackie.
Chi Lam was outside, he’s still a little weak since he gave out too much blood, and he was wearing the hospital’s clothes. He asks if he could come in when he saw tears on Ming-Ming face, the nurse nodded at him, understandingly.
So he went in and slides down quietly behind her and wrapped his arms around her placing his lip on her hair and ear. “Ming-Ming, please don’t cry, even if Jackie is a little kid but he’s smart, he will understand your complications, he’ll accept us…” Chi Lam said kissing her cheek and squeezing her in his arms, she didn’t move didn’t do anything she just nodded, “I hope so…” she whispers in tears.
“Mr. Yuen?” the nurse asks smiling weakly, glancing over Jackie, Ming-Ming and Chi Lam, they didn’t seem to notice that Hiu Chung was there. He twitches his hand into a fist and walks away, he felt so selfish, he’s not suppose to get jealous over them, they were meant to be together. Even so…he understands the logic, but he still gets mad and jealous… He ran out the parking lot “AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH” he yells releasing all the angers that filled in his heart, but he still feel pain, he turn on his car and step on it.
He drove as fast as he could just to escape the painful truth, Jackie is Ming-Ming and Chi Lam’s son, he’s their son, and the words just keep spinning around his mind. Hiu Chung can’t see anything he only could see pitch black in front of him; everywhere he go he would see just himself alone in dark space, he would fall and there was no one to reach to, to hold on to and to cry with. He feels a hard bump and siren sounds around him, but he was too dizzy to tell what happened…
Ming-Ming and Chi Lam were watching Jackie sleeping when they heard footsteps and the nurses and doctors are busy running, “What happened?” she asks looking at Chi Lam, he patted her shoulder, “I’ll go find out, stay here.” He said leaving. She smiles at his back.
“Excuse me, Miss? Do you know what happened, why the doctors and nurses are running?” he asks the nurse, “Oh, they are running toward the emergency room, there was a big car accident…” she was cut by another nurse, “Mr. Chi Lam,” she called, “yes?” Chi Lam turns around, “I need to talk to Mrs. Yuen…” she said catching up her breath, and she burst into Jackie’s room.
“Mrs. Yuen…Mr. Yuen, is involve in the…deadly car accident, he’s in the emergency now, I don’t know if he could hold on, he’s injured badly…” the nurse said, Ming-Ming was shock, her heart was like stop beating, at the moment she realize how much…just how much she loves Hiu Chung. She jumps out of the room like a fox and race to the emergency room.
The curtain was pulled close she was trying to get in but the nurse stops her, “Mrs. Yuen the doctors have to work, please stay out here and wait.” She said, she steps back and Chi Lam was standing behind the wall looking at her pacing back and forth and always have her eyes on the curtain.
Her heart was ringing, “Hiu Chung you have to be ok, you have to, you can’t leave!” she said to herself, she’s preying to god that he’ll be ok, she waited and waited. Finally the curtain slide opened and the doctors step out, they sigh with relieve. She quickly came over, “How is my husband?” she asks, “He’s fine…but…” “But what?” she asks, “His head injured was pretty bad, I afraid it might affect some part of his brain…you should prepare Mrs. Yuen, maybe he would turn into Vegetable human,” the doctors said, the words hit her head, in shock, Ming-Ming didn’t know what else to do, she falls down on her knees and burry her face in her hand, “No…no…why…it’s all my fault why does it have to be pull down on Hiu Chung…?” she cries, her heart twisted, she rather to be the one in there, the one who will turns into a Vegetable human, instead of Hiu Chung. The doctor kneels down and sighs; he puts his hand on her shoulder,
“Mr. Yuen will be put in the special room for watch.” The doctor said, “You can visit him, but the best is to let him rest, but you can watch him from outside.” The doctor said, Ming-Ming watch as his body been push to the different room, she follow and looks at him. Tears fall down rapidly on her face, “I am sorry Hiu Chung, I am sorry!” she said running to him. She grab his hand and hold it, “Mrs. Yuen, please don’t do that, you will bring viruses to him, it’s bad for his health if he got a fever or anything, it might kill him as well.” the nurse said, she let’s go and cover her mouth with her hand as tears fell down.
She suddenly feels dizzy and collapse, Chi Lam rush over and catches her, “Ming-Ming, Hiu Chung will be fine, don’t be so upset.” He said, his heart ache so much, “Chi Lam…it’s my fault, if I didn’t tell him about Jackie, he would have been calm and nothing will happen…it’s all my fault…” she said crying and hitting herself, “No…it’s not your fault Ming-Ming…don’t blame yourself…” “It is my fault…” she cries harder, “Ming-Ming…” “It’s my fault…” she said, Chi Lam doesn’t know what else to say…
“Ming-Ming, that’s enough, it’s not your fault!” he yelled and shook her harshly; everybody spun their head back and stares at them. She looks up at him, “Chi Lam…” he hugs her, “Its ok, I am sorry, but it’s not your fault, he’ll be fine…” Chi Lam said…trying to comfort her.
