“WOW, daddy, are you serious that we’re going to eat these?” Jackie said, shockingly, surprise, and freak out with his little index finger pointed to an OVER fried bacon, and the pretty much raw egg. Hiu Chung nodded in embarrassment. Jackie swallows hard.
“Now, Jackie, sit down and have some egg.” Jackie smiles, “EH…HE HE…I’ll wait for mommy.” Just than Ming-Ming came out, she wears a baby blue tank top with a jean Capri. Her hair was curled a little, which make Ming-Ming look cute and pretty.
“Good morning Jackie, good morning honey.” She smiles at them sweetly. “Mommy,” Jackie jump on her, kisses her cheek. “Ok, let’s see what daddy cook today.” She said, sitting down next to him. She looks at the two dishes, cant help but smile, “Why don’t we go outside for breakfast today?” she announces, “YAY!!” Jackie yells with excitements.
Hiu Chung looks all gloomy; Ming-Ming shook her head at Jackie, than place both of her hand on her husband arm and leans over kisses him on the cheek. “Thank you honey, for cooking, for everything, I’ll eat the food later, but now, Jackie seems to not enjoying it…” “No, no, no Ming-Ming, you don’t have to eat it, I know how I cook. The egg is too raw and the bacon is…too cook.” Jackie snickers.
Hiu Chung blushes, “Come on Jackie, its daddy’s first time cooking, of course I am not good as mommy.” Hiu Chung said. Jackie rolls his eyes playfully, “Its worse than what I am imagine.” He pushes himself up and ran, “Hey, naughty kid,” Hiu Chung chase after Jackie, Ming-Ming fall back in the chair and watches them. This is her family, a really sweet one…
Hong Kong: 2007
“Chi Lam, at the end of this month, there will be a manager from America transfer to our company, so you need to go to the airport and pick him up ok?” “Yes, boss.” “About the plane and time, when I have more information, I will tell you.” “Ok,” “You can go outside now.” Chi Lam pushes himself up from the chair and went back to his room.
He sat down; sips his coffee and looks at his phone. “Ming-Ming…was there something wrong?” he dialed in her number and this time he wait for Ming-Ming to answer first. “Hello? Who is it?” “Ming-Ming…I…” he was about to say, “I think you got a wrong number.” She hung up. “Hello? Ming-Ming?” Chi Lam calls out her name again. Did I hurt her that much? She hung up on me, he felt sadden; his head rang with Ming-Ming’s images.
Everything is the past now, even though he want it all back, he want to be able to hold her hand kiss her and be together with her again. But…he cant, she’s already have Hiu Chung. His heart burn as he thought.
“Ming-Ming, I am sorry, I could do everything now, just for you to get back with me.” He buried his face down on the table. When Ming-Ming left, he thought that he could manage it, he could forget her and move on, he starts to bury himself in works, but she’s still didn’t go anywhere in his head. She’s still there, she’s still important to him…
America: 2007
“Ming-Ming? Are you all right? Who was it?” Ming-Ming looks really out of mind after she answer that phone call, “Oh, they got the wrong number honey.” “Are you sure? You don’t look all right at all! Are you tired? Want to go home and rest?” “No, its ok, I am fine, seriously, let’s Jackie eats, and we got a lot of shopping to do…” she smiles, but inside, it wasn’t a smile at all.
They look at Jackie, he stuff the pancake in his mouth, “Yummy!” he said out loud. Hiu Chung laughs, he places his hand on top of Ming-Ming’s and said, “Our son is really still a baby.” He said warmly, Ming-Ming looks up at him shamefully and lower her head, nodded lightly. Hiu Chung looks at her than leans over to kiss her hair, “Hiu Chung, it’s public.” She said blushing as everyone looks at them including Jackie.
Hiu Chung just smiles, “Who said I can’t kiss my wife in public?” he smiles, she hit him on the arm, “Ouch, jeez” “you deserve that!” Ming-Ming said, she got the smile back on her face. Thank you Hiu Chung, she said inside her mind. Hiu Chung seems to read it in her eyes, he rub her hand and smiles warmly at her.
They went shopping, Ming-Ming and Hiu Chung were holding hand walking peacefully and watching Jackie running in front of them. “When are we going Hiu Chung?” Ming-Ming asks, “At the end of this month, the 29.” “Oh, we better get ready to pack up; I don’t know what I should pack.” Ming-Ming sign, “Don’t worry, you got a husband, I will help you.” “Thanks. It’s ok.” “Did you buy gift for father, and mother in law?” “No, why?” “Well, it’s been long since I met them, I want to bring some gifts, and do you know what they like?” “It’s ok, you don’t have to, and you already give them a big gift!” “Wait, I didn’t give them anything,” “Well you marry me and take care of me, and they don’t have to worry about me anymore, isn’t that a big gift?”
Ming-Ming smiles, Hiu Chung shook his head and pinch her nose, “I married you because I love you, and gifts are to show my respects to your parents.” “You’re always so nice honey.” Ming-Ming smiles at him, “I will help you with the gift,” she said again. “Jackie, wait for us, don’t go to fast.” She calls out to her son whose was running from here to there.” They chase after him, holding him into their arms, “naughty boy, you better hold your daddy hand and walk with us, or else we won’t take you to shopping anymore.” Ming-Ming warns.
“Daddy is too busy holding your hand, he don’t have another hand for me.” “Jackie.” “Ming-Ming, I don’t know who does Jackie is like, he’s so naughty and clever.” Hiu Chung jokes “Of course he’s like you, he’s your son.” Ming-Ming take the joke seriously, “I am just joking, I didn’t say he’s anyone else son.” Ming-Ming signs “Ok, let’s go, we got a long list for shopping, we’ve been wasting time.” She said.
“I’ll carry him inside, why don’t you get our bags.” Ming-Ming said, Jackie was sleeping while they were driving home. “Ok,” Hiu Chung agrees, he opens the trunk and takes out all kind of bags and 3 luggages. After placing Jackie down on his bed, Ming-Ming hurries outside to help Hiu Chung. “Need help?” “If you want to,” Ming-Ming came over and carried the shopping bags from different stores inside. They place their stuff down.
Ming-Ming was about to put it away when Hiu Chung hug her from the back and put her down on the sofa. He looks at her, his eyes were some how sad. “What happened Hiu Chung?” “Nothing…maybe there is something.” He leans down and kisses her than rolls up, “You know the other day, when Jackie was missing?” Ming-Ming nodded, your phone rang when you were in the bathroom, I picked it up…I am sorry…but I…it’s was Chi Lam…” he said, his eyes are red, “Hiu Chung…I…” “Don’t need to explain…I know you’re not that kind of woman…but if there anything you hide from me…please tell me.” He stopped and looks into her eyes, “If you don’t feel comfortable with me…I don’t mind if you’re going back to him…just don’t lie to me…because I feel really hurt…because I love you a lot Ming-Ming.”
After hearing those words Ming-Ming cries, she pull him down and kissed him, “I am sorry Hiu Chung…I promise there is nothing between me and him anymore. The only one I know now is you, you’re my husband. Please trust me.” She begs, he wipes her tears away and hugs her, “I do trust you…” he kisses her hair, “Thank you Hiu Chung.” She quickly got up, “Come on, we’ve to clean up. I don't want to let that guy come between us anymore.” Ming-Ming said, turn away. But she knows that there’s still always one thing that gets between them…
