To her surprise, Chi Lam and her son, Jackie was sitting at the sofa, playing video games together. They laugh and talk, they're so match to each other, she stood there and looks at them, a smile spread sweetly over her beautiful face.
She slowly steps down and approaches them, “Jackie,” “Mommy,” Jackie ran over and hugs her, “Hey Ming-Ming, you’re awake, dinner is ready, let go have some.” Chi Lam stood up and turns off the video game. She nodded and joins him at the dinning table.
“Yum…uncle Lam cooks really well, the foods taste so much better then daddy’s food …” Jackie said shoving some foods into his mouth. Ming-Ming smiles at him, she looks at Chi Lam and shrugs.
He smiles at them, “Jackie is really cute Ming-Ming.” He said touching her hand, she pulls it away and nodded. She lowers her head and starts eating. The door bell rang, “Coming…” Jackie jumps off his chair and went at the door. “Daddy…” he hugs Hiu Chung, “Jackie, do you miss daddy?” Jackie nodded, “I am sorry I didn’t take you home this afternoon,”
Hiu Chung rubs Jackie’s head and kisses him, “Nah…daddy are you hungry? Uncle Lam cooked, his foods are really good.” “He’s still here?” Hiu Chung asks, his face expression changed a bit. “Yeah,” “How is your mom?” “She’s fine daddy, come on.” Jackie pulls Hiu Chung to the table.
“Hey Hiu Chung.” Chi Lam said standing up. “Thank you Chi Lam, for taking care of Ming-Ming and Jackie today.” “It’s nothing…” “Hi honey, how are you? Did the doctor say anything?” Hiu Chung came over and kisses Ming-Ming’s cheek. Chi Lam looks down, he felt somewhat jealous inside.
“I think I better get going now, it’s pretty late…so see you Hiu Chung, Ming-Ming…” “Uncle Lam, are you coming over to play video games with me tomorrow?” “Ah hem…Jackie, uncle is really busy, now say goodbye to him.” Ming-Ming said standing up following Hiu Chung and Chi Lam to the door. “Bye uncle Lam.” “Bye Chi Lam,” Hiu Chung and Ming-Ming said.
Hiu Chung puts his arm around Ming-Ming’s shoulder and the other was holding Jackie’s hand. “Bye Jackie, Hiu Chung. Bye Ming-Ming.” Chi Lam looks into her eyes and she quickly lowers her head, “Drive safe.” She said quietly.
He nodded and went off. Jackie closed the door and went to the table finishing his foods. Ming-Ming sighs with relief, so much happened in just one day. She puts her hand on her forehead. “Are you ok Ming-Ming?” Hiu Chung smiles, “Yeah I am fine honey. So how was today?” she asks him, try to smiles politely, “Good, the boss was nice; I will start working next week.” Ming-Ming nodded and wrapped her arms around his waist, “Come on, eat some and take a shower…you must be tire, right?” Ming-Ming said leading him to the table. He pokes her forehead and smiles.
“Ming-Ming, can you get me a towel?” she heard his voice from the bathroom, “Sure,” Ming-Ming went to the drawer and take out the big towel; she opens the bathroom’s door and places it on the counter. “It’s on the counter honey.” “Ok, thank you Ming-Ming.” She steps outside and closes the door. Her heart starts to beat, she was eager to tell Hiu Chung the good news.
She could imagine him jumping up and down when he learns that she’s carrying a baby. She smiles, but then it faded. Chi Lam suddenly came to her mind. His words, his touch, his kiss, all that happened today came back to her mind. “Five years…I have been waiting to say sorry and all…” his words hit her mind. She felt her heart tear, does he really mean it? Was he feel ashamed and want to say sorry? A mix feeling filled her heart, her lung, half was happy because Chi Lam still love her, and half is guilty, she felt like she’s cheating on Hiu Chung…
Hiu Chung steps out of the bathroom with a short and a white T-shirt on. He went over to Ming-Ming and places his arms around her.
“Hi…” she said smiling at him, “Hiu Chung…I have something to tell you…” “What is it?” his eyes were closing, his head were resting on her shoulder. She smiles at him and said quietly and shyly. “The doctor said I am carrying a baby, your baby, and it has been 2 months…” “What?” he opened his eyes, looking at her, surprise “Can you repeat what you just said?” he asks “The doctors said I have been carrying a baby in the past 2 months.” She said, her face was blushing.
Hiu Chung looks at her, his eyes are all light up. He carries her up and spins her, “Are you serious? You’re pregnant?” he smiles, “yes…” she nodded. “Put me down Hiu Chung.” She said and he immediately puts her down. “I am sorry, I am so happy. Thank you Ming-Ming thanks you.”
He said holding onto her and kissing her forehead. She leans against his chest, “Silly, I am really happy too…” she said, he kisses her deeply. “Not long after, Jackie will have a brother.” He said, “Why a brother? It could be a sister.” Ming-Ming said, “Ok, a sister, what should we name our upcoming baby?” “Jeez calm down Hiu Chung, just two months at least wait until we find out if it a boy or a girl ok?” she said poking his chest.
Hiu Chung was so happy. He leans and kisses her again. But before that, he found some hickeys on her shoulder and neck. He scoots back and fall a few steps back.
“Hiu Chung?” Ming-Ming said getting nearer, “Your shoulder…” he said, and she looks and found the marks that Chi Lam left this afternoon. She pulls her robe tighter. “I…I…” she try to explain, “I got a project to make for the company, I better starts working on it now.” Hiu Chung said, and left the room, “Go to sleep first…don’t wait for me.” Ming-Ming stood there looking at his back, her eyes tearing up. She felt so guilty for what she did. “I am sorry…” she whispers.
Hiu Chung was sitting in front of his computer. He wants to work, but his mind just keep circling about Ming-Ming and Chi Lam. Those marks on her neck, what did they do?
Ming-Ming is lying on the big empty bed on one side alone. She wrapped herself up with blankets, but the emptiness the coldness still fill inside her, tears starts to run down from her eyes.
“Hiu Chung, you got to understand this for me…I didn’t do anything wrongful behind your back.” She said to herself. Her heart is burning, even though god gave her a new baby, there’s a new life in her tummy, but Hiu Chung’s eyes when he looks at her didn’t make Ming-Ming feel any happy. She lays there looking at the moment for about 2 hours straight. Emptiness, quiet, she decide to go see where Hiu Chung is…she have to explain to him everything that happened today.
