Ming-Ming went back into her room and grabbed a pillow and blanket. She moves his head gently and places it on the pillow so he won’t be awake. Then she put the blanket on top of him. “Hiu Chung, I am sorry.” She leans down and kisses his lip. “Good night…” she whispers to him, one of her tear drop down on his lip. Hiu Chung was awake all this time; he felt her tears, her kiss, and her gentleness. He wrapped his arms around her and opens his eyes.
“Shh…” he said, and then kisses her deeply. “I am so sorry Hiu Chung…everything is not like you think…” Ming-Ming said, looking down into his eyes. He shook his head and places his index finger on her lip. “I understand, I am sorry for being such a short minded. Let’s go, you need to get some sleep my pregnant lady.” Ming-Ming feels happy, he’s back. Her lovely, cute and caring husband is back.
“Good morning,” Hiu Chung said, “Good morning, come on and eat breakfast…do you have work today Hiu Chung?” “No, I’ll take you two go visit mother and father in law.” “OH, really?” Jackie whelms up, Hiu Chung nodded and smiles at him, “we have to tell them there will be a new member to our family soon too.” He said looking at Ming-Ming. She looks down and blushes, “Quit it, come on Hiu Chung, Jackie, and eat your soup.” She said. They joke and finish their breakfast. Ming-Ming picks out clothes and places it on the bed for Hiu Chung then she went to help Jackie take a shower and dress up. “Ming-Ming, did you see my watch?” Hiu Chung asks, “It’s in the drawer right next to the TV…” she answers back.
He opened the drawer and found his watch; he found Ming-Ming’s hospital paper works. He opens it and takes a look, it said that she is pregnant, well he already knew that. But in the middle, there is a red bolded paragraph about her health condition; it said that Ming-Ming’s condition is really weak to carry a baby. Plus, she kind of has a blood disease, she can’t lose a lot of blood or she might die. The best suggestion from the doctor is to have an abortion; if she decides to have a baby then she is really risking her life to the end. Hiu Chung’s hands shook after the words has printed in his mind, he shook his head, Ming-Ming, you’re always like that, to make other people happy you can do anything…even if it mean putting yourself in risk. He thought, he’s going to talk to her, even though he’s really want another child but to him, Ming-Ming is everything…he wont let her die on him.
He toss the paper back inside the drawer then he grab his light jacket and put on a fake smile and went down to them. “So, are you two ready?” Hiu Chung asks. Ming-Ming looks at him and smiles, “Three!” she fixed him, his heart race, how come she’s always hide things inside. She won’t tell it so they could talk or anything, sometimes he has worried if they’re even a married couple. “Yeah…three…” he said sadly, Ming-Ming seems to notice something. “Are you ok Hiu Chung?” she put her hand on his shoulder, “yeah I am fine, I am just tire…” he tries to smile and hold onto her hand. She nodded, “Mommy, daddy, come on…I am so eager to see grandma and grandpa.” Ming-Ming pulls away and rubs Jackie’s cheek, “Ok, we’re going…Come on honey…” she turns and put her hand on his pulling him out of the house.
Hiu Chung sighs, he starts the car, “honey, are you sure you’re fine?” Ming-Ming put her hand on his, “Yeah, don’t worry.” He touches her face and leans over to kiss her. “Eww…” Jackie covers his eyes, they look back and Ming-Ming starts to laugh, “Mommy, daddy, its morning…” Jackie insisted in a cute way. “Oh gosh Jackie, you know you’re too nosy for a 5 years old kid??” Hiu Chung joke. “Yeah, I know, because I am just smart like you daddy.” Hiu Chung laugh, but Ming-Ming some how, she look kind of sad and look down at her fingers instead of joining them.
They drove for nearly an hour; Hiu Chung parted the car in front of a big white house. Ming-Ming’s parents are rich, they own a company, but they retire years ago.
A little detail about Ming-Ming, Chi Lam, and her parents:
Ming-Ming was set to study about financial and business accounting to fulfill their wishes too. After she was done studying abroad in Canada, she came back and help her father in building stronger stocks and marketing system of their company.
Since Ming-Ming was young and still hasn’t had enough experience about marketing system. Her father arranges her mentor who she works under in their financial branch. The mentor was a young, hardworking and smart. He turns out to be Chi Lam. When they first met, they argue about works and plans a lot. But later, Chi Lam found there is a lot of talent in Ming-Ming. He starts to help and work with her more; they stick together and get along. The next thing…of course…is falling for each other. Later on, when Ming-Ming’s parents decide to close down their company, Chi Lam has fly outside and work at another strong stock system along with Ming-Ming. One of his project fail and he assume it was Ming-Ming who spread out the project idea so he dump her right at the wedding day which make Ming-Ming hurt badly…
Ok, back to the story.
Hiu Chung puts his arms around Ming-Ming and smiles at her, “Here we are Ming-Ming.” “Grandma, grandpa…” Jackie run around his parents calling out names, Ming-Ming pulls him back into her arms, “Ok, let’s go in.” she said and they walk up to the front door. They ring the doorbell, Ming-Ming’s heart starts to race, it’s has been quite a long time since she last seen her parents. She felt nervous and everything. Then a few seconds later a maid opened the door.
“Sis Lan??” Ming-Ming greets, “Oh my, Ming-Ming…it’s been so long…” then they hug and the person who Ming-Ming call sis Lan said “Come on Ming-Ming, Hiu Chung, I got to tell your parents you’re home.” She said leading them inside. They sat on the sofa having teas and cakes. “Mommy, this cake is so good; I can’t wait to see grandma and grandpa.” Hiu Chung holds her hand in his and them both smiles at their son. “We’re not only here to visit, we’re bringing them some good news too, right Hiu Chung?” Ming-Ming smiles, Hiu Chung try to, but his smiles faded as the report about her pregnancy hit his mind. She couldn’t carry a baby due to her health condition. Ming-Ming’s really weak. He just nodded.
From upstairs an old couple walks down; they both have sweet smiles on their face. It’s been so long since they last see each other, they were happy to see their daughter, son-in-law and grandson.
