Eunhyuk’s fingers quickly pressed and typed on the keyboard. He was looking through the comments about Super Junior on Youtube and Cyworld. He was now typing a response to a person, saying that Super Junior was NOT breaking up. Boy, this person must be pretty late on news. Right now, everyone was on their break in SUCH a long time. They really needed it, even if it was just one day. Eunhyuk was in his room of course.
Pak, pak, pak, pak!
He pushed the ‘enter’ button and smiled. It got even bigger when he noticed a comment about Eunhae.
“Omg, how CUTEEEE! Eunhae is real <3 They’re my OTP. But I’m a bit sad that they don’t give out any more fan services.”
Donghae was watching from the door. He leaned on it silently and watched Eunhyuk happily scrolling down the websites and listening to the most recent and popular k-pop. He couldn’t bear to ruin that happy smile, that beautiful eye-catching smile of Eunhyuk’s. Donghae had always fallen under its charm, and it was usually the main thing that brightened up his day. Donghae gulped, trying to get rid of his dry throat. His pulse was getting faster and his heart was clenching in pain but he bit his lip as he forced it down. Not much of the terrible feeling disappeared however. Donghae wordlessly chickened out a bit, taking a step back with his sneaky sly socks that made no sound on the carpet.
Eunhyuk was now bobbing his head back and forth. He was watching SHINee’s Juliette MV. Suddenly, he felt a pair of eyes staring at him. Eunhyuk inside knew that it was Donghae but the feeling and mood was strangely different- sad and confused in a way. He spun his chair around, as expected, it really was Donghae.
Despite the frowning face on Donghae, Eunhyuk still blissfully smiled at him, “Hae!”
Hearing his nickname given by Eunhyuk, it made Donghae feel even worse.
“What’s up?!” Eunhyuk bounced his way over and hugged Donghae tightly, expecting a response. But there wasn’t any. Eunhyuk had a feeling something was up and softened the hug, but not breaking away.
‘Why do I feel like this would be the last time I get to do this?’
Donghae closed his eyes, savoring the moment of time. He knew he couldn’t stay like this though, or he wouldn’t be able to restrain himself from loving Eunhyuk back. If he didn’t stop now, he’s be on the brink of giving Eunhyuk a million kisses and a million tight hugs with a million hours worth of laughter.
He pushed Eunhyuk away, looking at the ground.
“Donghae?” Eunhyuk softly whispered. ‘This isn’t good,’ he thought. Eunhyuk unconsciously played with his fingers behind his back but still had his head up. He trembled, he knew something was wrong, and he was afraid of it.
“Hyukkie- I mean…Eunhyuk…”Donghae stumbled on his words, “I-I…I-uh…”
“Y-yes?” Eunhyuk bit his bottom lip hard, it would probably leave a bruise right after. He wondered why Donghae switched from the beloved nickname to just the stage name. There was a deadly silence as the both of them drowned themselves in thought. The music from the computer’s speakers ended.
‘What’s happening? Why do I feel afraid?’
‘How can I do this? I love him and yet…’
“Let’s…let’s break up,” Donghae muttered, but loud enough to be heard. Eunhyuk froze. He stopped playing with his fingers as they had to strength in them no longer. He shook from head to toe. The words echoed in his mind. And the tears were threatening to spill any moment.
Eunhyuk shot up, “W-what?”
Donghae looked away, then he turned his back toward Eunhyuk, just to make sure he wouldn’t do anything reckless. “Let’s break up.” He tried to sound more confident in his answer, and luckily, Eunhyuk bought it.
Eunhyuk’s salty wet tears ran down his cheeks. The perfect world shattered in half, or even into billions of pieces that no one would be able to put them together again. He stopped breathing at that very moment, praying to God that this was just a nightmare where he’d wake up right in Donghae’s arms. Eunhyuk stared at Donghae’s unwelcoming back. It looked so warm before, but why has everything suddenly turned one hundred and eighty degrees?
Donghae balled up his hands and let the nails dig into his skin so that he’d distract him by the physical pain. He decided to leave and took a step but Eunhyuk quickly grabbed his wrist and his blue sleeve.
“Why?” Eunhyuk asked desperately, “Why?”
Donghae knew he was crying, and he did everything he could to avoid those hurt eyes.
“Because…I hate you.”
Eunhyuk’s knees wobbled and the tears stained his face. He didn’t know what to do anymore. “Lies…” Eunhyuk dropped himself, covering his face with his hands. When he first heard the words “I love you,” from Donghae three months ago, he was so happy; he could die right on the spot with no regrets. Now that the “love” had turned into “hate,” what was he going to do now?
“I never loved you in the first place; I was just toying with you.” Donghae emotionlessly explained. But deep inside, he was being stabbed in the heart with a thousand needles, it was unbearable. With one harsh tug, he got Eunhyuk to release him and stomped away to his room, slamming the door. Then, he let all of the emotions out and cried soundlessly into the pillow.
On the other hand, the shock was too much, Eunhyuk wailed and cried on his knees. Soon, his knee also gave out and was laying on the floor.
Leeteuk, who was sleeping, heard the ruckus and was about to yell out until he saw Eunhyuk helplessly in pain. All of the anger went away and he rushed over to help his fellow band member. He quickly carried Eunhyuk up into the bed and hugged him, comforting him.
“It’s okay…”
