Chapter 22

The Perfect Ending

“Yeah. I know, tomorrow at eight right? Okay, bye…” Donghae pressed the off button of his phone and sighed while rubbing his temple in the car.
It was stressful having work from early morning to late at night and on top of that, the stupid Ji Young just HAD to be here, living at Eunhyuk’s dorm. Donghae tried to understand, he tried to imagine himself in the same situation, he tried to smile and still conclude that Eunhyuk still felt the same way about “us,” but it never works.

Donghae’s hand turned the knob and threw his blazer and bag toward the couch. From the breeze of the bag, a few petals flew across his face slowly and mystically. His eyes followed it and to his surprise, many more was laid out on the wooden floor, leading to the hallway and into his room.

He swallowed as he realized that it was unusually quiet. Even if Kangin was on the bottom dorm, his snoring could he heard if you carefully listened. Donghae was definitely listening, and curious. There wasn’t even a sound nor a small movement in sight.

Donghae took light and slow steps on the petals, admiring the beauty of them all. They parted ways like a catwalk for Donghae to go through and proceed to his room.

His heart thumped and he was pressing his lips together, raking it with his teeth in wonder and caution.
What if it was a stalker?
He was curious and everything seemed to warm and comfortable so nothing was exactly dangerous. Just about five feet away from going into his room, the door creaked open.

‘I knew it! It was a stalker!’

Donghae was about to turn around and run for his life when lighted raspberry scented candles were flickering and flashing, welcoming him in. The hands that carried those candles were so familiar, Donghae told himself, that he could trust this person, whoever it was.

He calmed down, but his heart was still beating and his stomach flipped and flopped upside-down in all different angles.

Donghae popped his head inside and his jaw dropped, his eyes watered, and his knees wobbled, making him collapse on the floor, crying in happiness as Eunhyuk’s smile was reflected by the moonlight’s shine from the window, a bouquet of roses in hand, and room surrounded by rosemary and lilies.
Eunhyuk grinned from the priceless expression of shock, love, and happiness all mixed together. He should’ve brought a camera with him and snap a shot at Donghae to add to the album-but it’d ruin the moment. Besides…he made sure that a picture would be captured soon anyway.

Eunhyuk pulled Donghae up while he knelt down, raising the bouquet up.

“I’m sorry.”

Donghae felt overwhelmed with touch and longing that he just HAD to let it out and kiss Eunhyuk.

Their lips brushed together roughly but sweetly. Eunhyuk smiled, knowing he was forgiven and savored the kiss even though his hand was finding its way to turn on the fan. Once he found it, he pushed it into silent mode and the flowers around the room started to fly in swirls and loops.

Behind Donghae’s back, Eunhyuk gave out the peace sign, and that was the signal for Sungmin, who was peeping through a hole, run out and start clicking the camera at least five times for a good picture.

Click, click…

Donghae suddenly heard the camera noises and wanted to pull away to punch whoever killed the moment but Eunhyuk held onto his waist tight and firm, making it impossible.

After pretty much forever, Eunhyuk was the first to stop and reach into his pocket. The gold locket sparkled in the moonlight…

Eunhyuk opened the string and placed it on Donghae’s neck, snapping it shut and letting it hang on the milky white neck.

Click.

“Cheesy, right?” Eunhyuk muffled a laugh but locked eyes with his one and only lover.

Donghae rolled his eyes and giggled softly. “Cheesy to the maximum Eunhyuk, cheesy to the maximum.”

He touched his new locket and smiled.

“Wait, how much money did all of THIS cost?!” Donghae’s eyes widened at the numerous flowers. It was romantic at first but now it just seemed like a money problem with tons and tons and TONS of bills.

“Oh…OH! HOLY! I DIDN’T EVEN THINK ABOUT- wait, no, I got a huge discount from the girl…never mind,” Eunhyuk let out a relieved sigh.

Click.

Donghae took a good look at his room. Despite the flowers flying around everywhere on his clothes and work, it looked…nice. Or maybe romantic. And awesome. Yup, awesome is the word he’s looking for.

“Maybe we can keep it like this for a few days…”

“Really?”

Click.

That sound was really getting annoying now, but Donghae just couldn’t find out where it came from.

“Mhm.”

“Mhm…”

Silence went by.

“And…Ji Young?”

“She left two hours ago, I uhm, talked to her,” Eunhyuk smiled. They placed themselves on the bed and pulled up the covers, cuddling and closing their eyes for the next day to come. It was truely, the perfect ending of a day.

Sungmin smiled at the sight, dreamingly sighing. Then he thought of Kyuhyun. Once again he sighed.

‘If only we had problems and Kyuhyun was like that…’

That sounded like an ending. (Oh Annie, when you log back on, we are totally going to discuss that THIS is the ending XD)
