Chapter 1

Childhood Times

Chao Chang (Ming Dao), Qiao En and Meng Zhe are childhood friends, 3 of them are of same age. Chao Chang got separated with them since 8 years old because his father was posted for overseas assignment and got to stay in Australia for 5 years. Qiao En and Meng Zhe remained in Taiwan. Before he left Taiwan, he's called Lin Chao Chang. His parents changed his name to Lin Ming Dao after he went Australia after a fortune-telling session.

This day, the young Chao Chang went looking for his childhood friends, Qiao En and Meng Zhe.

Chao Chang: Qiao En, I am leaving to Australia soon.

Qiao En *innocent look*: Why?

Meng Zhe: That's so sudden.

Chao Chang: Because my dad's boss is posting him for an overseas business trip.

Qiao En: How long will you be away?

Chao Chang: Am not sure, his boss told him 5 years or might be longer.

Meng Zhe: Coming back?

Qiao En: Will you?

Chao Chang *firm tone*: I will come back!

Qiao En: Sure? Don't lie to me or I will hate you for the rest of my life!

Chao Chang: I have never lie to you, so please believe me.

Meng Zhe: When are you leaving?

Chao Chang: This coming weekend.

Meng Zhe: Everything's settled? Your school and stuff?

Chao Chang: Yes.

The little Qiao En just stood there, don't what she can do nor say. All she knows is her very close friend is leaving soon and they won't get to see each other for a long period of time. Chao Chang noticed that and turned to her.

Chao Chang: No worries, I will be back for sure! Trust me k? 1 more very important thing!

Qiao En: huh?

Chao Chang *whisper to her*: Don't forget our promise. You said you'd marry me when you reached 21.

Qiao En: Orh. Can I go to the airport?

Chao Chang: Nope!

Qiao En: Why?

Chao Chang: I don't wish to see you cry. I know you'll cry for sure.

Qiao En *sad*

He saw her feeling so sad; he went upfront and hugs her.

Chao Chang: Don't be sad! I'll be back! I promise.

Qiao En *nod nod*: Ok.

Chao Chang: Here's a necklace for you. Even if next time I can't recognize you, I'll be able to find you based on this necklace because it's one and only around, only you have it.

He puts it on for her.

Chao Chang: Meng Zhe must take good care of Qiao En.

Meng Zhe: No worries, I will.

The day has come and Chao Chang has left. Little Qiao En stayed in her own room, looking out of the window.

Qiao En (POV): Chao Chang should be on that plane. Good-bye, my friend.
