Eunji’s POV
“How does this dress look?” I heard a distant voice ask me.
I nodded, not knowing what I was nodding at.
I was at the mall with Miyoko and Minhee. The guys would be joining us later on. Ever since I received the phone call from Joseph, I wasn’t really paying much attention to the things around me.
“How would this man’s shirt look on me?” The same voice came again. This time I realized it was Miyoko’s voice.
“Good.” I said with a nod.
“Eunji, what’s wrong with you? This is a man’s shirt, why would it look good on me? It’s triple Miyoko’s size.” Minhee said to me with a awkward expression, shirt in her hand.
“Huh?” I blinked at him.
“Ever since you got off the phone, you started acting all weird.” Miyoko said as she shook my shoulder.
The phone call from Joseph really surprised me. I never would have thought that he would be calling to tell me that he is coming to Canada. He’ll be here in less than 24 hours.
“It’s nothing.” I told them, I didn’t feel ready to tell them anything.
“No, you’re lying to my face. You better tell us right now.” Minhee said as she crossed her arms in front of her chest.
“She’s right. Please tell us Eunji. You’re so out of it.” Miyoko said as her serious face faded into a frown.
“I...” I tried to say something. I guess I should tell them about the fight with Wonbin, what happened with Joseph in Canada, and the phone call.
By the time i finished telling them, I felt a lot better. I was glad I told them. Letting it out was good. I looked at Miyoko and Minhee. Their faces were in awe.
“Why didn’t you tell us about this?” Miyoko asked.
“I don’t know. I felt like it wasn’t that important.” I shrugged.
“Wonbin is wrong to think like that about you.” Minhee told me as she rubbed my arm.
“I would never cheat on him. He’s so stupid. He should learn to believe me.” I said as we walked out of the store. It was time to meet up with the guys, but we still haven’t bought anything yet.
“Well, if I was a guy, I’d be jealous if my girlfriend was being all protective over another guy.” Minhee said.
“But Joseph is my best friend, and will only be my best friend. No more than that.” I assured them.
As we talked, we walked to the food court, where we spotted the five guys. I took a look at Wonbin. He was laughing and talking with a girl I’ve never seen before. Inside my heart, I felt it miss a beat.
“Minwhan!” Miyoko yelled out as she stretched her arms out towards Minwhan. I saw Minwhan smiling as he accepted her warm welcome.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Minhee and Jonghyun smiling at each other. Seeing these couples together made me a bit jealous.
I tried to look at Wonbin, but his expression was full of happiness. It wasn’t towards me, but the girl he was with.
“What took you guys so long? I’m hungry.” Hongki complained.
“We’re girls. We have to take long.” Miyoko replied.
Wonbin didn’t bother to say hi to me. He was too busy laughing with the girl.
“Oppa, I’m hungry, let’s go find some lunch.” The girl said as she pulled Wonbin away from us.
“Are you hungry Eunji?” Jaejin asked me.
“A bit.” I said.
“Let’s go find something to eat.” Jaejin said as he dragged me towards the shops.
“Do you want pizza?” He asked me.
“Doesn’t matter.” Was my answer.
“What about pasta?” He asked me again.
“Doesn’t matter.” Was my answer once again.
“Do you want some sushi then?” He asked the third time.
“Doesn’t matter.” I sighed for the third time.
“Eunji, what’s up with you?” He asked with concern.
“It’s nothing. Just tired.” I simply replied.
“If there’s something you want to tell me, just tell me. I’ll always be here to listen.” He said as he hugged me.
“Thanks. I’ll make sure of it.” I told him with a smile.
I’m glad I have such a great friend to lean on. Someone who can keep secrets, someone who will care about me.
As Jaejin and I walked back to where we spotted the rest of the group, other than Wonbin and his friend, we sat down.
“So what’d you girls buy?” Jonghyun asked us as we ate, not bothering to wait for Wonbin.
“We still haven’t bought anything.” Miyoko sulked.
“You were at the mall for the entire morning and still didn’t buy anything?” Hongki said with a mouthful of rice.
“Well, we were discussing about things....” Minhee protested.
“Oppa! Give me my lunch!” I heard a voice of a girl getting closer.
I turned around to see the girl punching Wonbin playfully on the shoulder. Wonbin was smiling right at her.
They placed down their plates and started stuffing at each other’s mouths.
“Stop it Rijin!” Wonbin screamed playfully at the girl.
I couldn’t help but look at the girl. This time, I carefully looked at her face. She was really pretty. Her light brown, big shaped eyes. Her fair skin. Her long black hair that flew around as she tried to attack Wonbin.
“I think I’m finished.” I said as I stood up, ready to leave. I didn’t want to stay and watch their little flirting go around. I wanted to leave.
“Where are you going?” Jaejin asked as he grabbed my wrist.
“I think I’ll go home. I’m a bit tired. I didn’t get much sleep last night due to jet lag.” I told him with a smile.
“Why are you going home so early? You still haven’t found clothes for tomorrow!” Miyoko whined as she stood up to reach my arm.
“I don’t know if I’ll be able to make it tomorrow. I have a friend coming here from Canada. I think I have to go pick him up.” I told them sadly.
I caught a glimpse of Wonbin’s glare towards me. He had stopped fooling around with Rijin to look at us.
“But this is such a important moment in our life. Won’t you just come to cheer us on?” Hongki protested.
“I can try. I’ll try to make it. If I don’t end up going, I wish you guys the best of luck. You guys are great. You’ll be really big one day. Just like DBSK. Don’t worry.” I told them as I grabbed my bag.
“I’ll come with you.” Minhee suggested as she got up from her seat.
“It’s okay. I’ll be fine. You still haven’t bought clothes yet.” I told her to sit back down on the chair.
“I’ll come with you then.” Jaejin said.
“It’s okay Oppa. I can make it back home by myself. I’m just tired, that’s all.” I assured him.
“Are you sure?” He asked.
I nodded with a smile. I didn’t want him to see me crying on the way back home.
“Then be careful.” He said with a little smile.
“I will. See you guys!” I waved to the others as I left the food court and out to the bus station.
Just as I hoped on the bus, I could feel the tear at the corner of my eye. If Wonbin wasn’t with the girl for the entire time I would have stayed. But their actions towards each other made me uncomfortable. I couldn’t just sit there and watch them fool around with each other.
As I got home I saw that my parent’s car wasn’t parked. I guess they went out.
I went to put away my jacket and went into the kitchen to grab a glass of water to drink. That’s when I saw a little note on the fridge.
“Eunji, your mother and I are in the countryside visiting your grandmother for a couple days. Sorry for not telling you, we know that you must really tired. We don’t want you coming with us, it will be too tiring for you. Take care of yourself for a couple days.” I read out loud.
Great, I had the whole house to myself. At least no one would disturb my thoughts.
I sat down on the couch and turned on the TV. The first thing I saw was a commercial for a new boy band. And it was not any boy band, it was FT Island.
“Tomorrow, come to Seoul Stadium to see our newest rising stars debut. You won’t want to miss this chance of a life time to witness these five handsome boys. See you there tomorrow.” The TV splurged out.
“I really want to be there tomorrow.” I said to myself. But the thought of having to see Wonbin with another girl disturbed my mind.
Was Wonbin still mad at me for talking with Joseph? Will he be mad if he sees Joseph with me tomorrow? What’s Joseph’s real reason of coming to Canada?
