It was spring time…. I was as excited at that time as Tomo-kun and others had entered Koshien!! They were splendid during their match these days. Tomo-kun as our ace pitcher and Toma as catcher. The Battery was on!! Actually, I didn’t know that Tomo-kun and Toma used to play baseball. I heard that they were injured so they didn’t enter Shun-san and Masami-san's school. But then, they were informed that they weren’t actually injured as there were false alarms during the doctor's examination. So, I begged them to join our team. I was the team's manager at that time. After having a lot of persuasion, finally, they joined our team. Since then, our team was led to the finals and now we were entering Koshien!!
Soon enough, we headed to Osaka for our next match. There, we were stayed put at the nearest dormitory. I didn’t notice that we stayed at the same dormitory with Shun-san and Masami-san's school. At that time, Masami-san was their manager. I didn’t know that she was there. Suddenly, my body trembled as soon as I saw her. But, I didn’t want anybody to notice my actions towards her so I pretended to be normal. Only Aya noticed me as she knew the real situation.
"Maki-chan… let me face her and tell her off…" Aya dropped her bag and almost walked away but I grabbed her arm.
"No… Don’t do that. You will only make it worst!" I whispered to her.
"But…."
I shook my head and dragged her along with me. But she continued to mumble around as she was frustrated with me and my softness at heart. Tomo-kun had never showed his pain or his sadness in front of people. He was not good at showing it, especially in front of Masami-san. He acted as if nothing happened. He would smile and laugh normally. He made me promised him not to tell anyone about it, he only showed it to me as he said he trusted me. And to be honest, I was very happy by that. I was so glad that he trusted me; I felt I was needed by him anyway… But then, he had never seen me as what I expected.
Aya and I headed to our room. She was busy arranged her clothes in the closet while I noted down for our needs in the next match. Then soon, we headed to the hall where our team was rested. We were told by our coach that the day after would be our match. Everybody was so excited about it. Then I turned to Tomo-kun. As usual, he would look away at the window. Then, I looked at the window where he was looking at. I saw Masami-san with Shun-san. They were happily giggled at each other. Masami-san looked happy with Shun-san. No wonder Tomo-kun would rather stay like that rather than joined us.
"Tomo-kun…." I called him out.
He turned to me and smiled. "Hait… What's wrong, Maki?"
I shook my head. "Nothing…. Don’t you wanna join us?" I asked.
"Ohh…. Sure…." He nodded. "Maki… Are you free this afternoon?" he asked me.
I startled. "Hait… Why are you asking?"
"Hmm…. Shun asked me to join him for outing. So, can you come with me?" he asked me again.
"Eh?" My eyes blinked. He was actually asked me along. Immediately, I nodded happily. "Hait! Sure!"
"Good! I'll be seeing you in the lobby." He smiled.
After we had dismissed, everybody went for their own outing. So, I told Aya that I will go outing with Tomo-kun and would be late. I ran to the stairs and almost tripped. But I was saved by Shun-san, who also went to the stairs.
"Daijoubu, Maki-chan?" he asked me.
I grinned. "Hehe…. I'm okay. Ahh…. Shun-san?"
"Where are you going?" he asked again.
I startled. "Actually…. Tomo-kun asked me to join you guys…."
"Ohh…. He's really asked you. Hmm… when I told him to bring you along, he said there's no need to. But then, he's actually asked you to come along. That guy!! I really don’t understand him!" he frustrated.
My expression changed. Why he asked me to come along if there was no need me to come along at the first place? Why did he suddenly change his mind?
I grinned. "Shun-san…. Are we the only one who will be joining you?" I asked him curiously.
He smiled and shook his head. "Nope…. There's Masami and Toma too…"
"Really? So, that's why he asked me…." my voice slowly faded away. I turned away and bit my lips.
"Eh? What did you say?"
I looked up at him and smiled. "Nothing…. So, let's go!" We made our way to the lobby then….
"Eh? Where are they?" he looked at me wondering.
"What's wrong, Shun-san?" I asked.
"Tomo and others are not here….. Where can they be?"
I shrugged my shoulders. Suddenly, my phone rang. "Moshi-Moshi…."
"Maki…. We will be waiting for you at the café nearby." Tomo-kun said.
"Eh?! Why are you leaving me alone?!" I asked, frustrated.
"Gomen…. I thought you are already here. I didn’t see you at the lobby just now. So, I reckon you have arrived."
"Hait…. I'll be there soon…." I pouted my lips. Then, I hanged up my phone. "Shun-san…. Let's go! Tomo-kun and others are already there."
He nodded happily. Both of us didn’t stop talking along our way. Shun-san was a nice and handsome guy. We did enjoy ourselves. If I had met him earlier, I would have fall in love with him first, I guessed….. But then, Masami-san and Tomo-kun would be a couple too… Masami-san was a lucky girl to have such a good boyfriend like Shun-san. Along our way, he didn’t stop talking about Masami-san. I bet he loved her more than anything else. When we reached our destination, Tomo-kun and others were not there. We were waited for them for quite sometime. After a while, Masami-san called Shun-san that they had went back to the dormitory as we didn’t appeared. So, our outing was canceled just like that. But, on our way back, suddenly Shun-san offered me to eat at the café nearby. We ate and talked a lot of things. We talked about Tomo-kun's childhood, and how did they become friends. So, Tomo-kun, Masami-san was close since they were in the first grade. Their parents were close enough that they spent most of their times together. Tomo-kun even slept at Masami-san's house when his parents went for their trip to work.
No wonder, they couldn’t be separated. They were liked sister and brother…. No…. more like fated couple. I envied Masami-san…. She knew Tomo-kun more than I do. I wished I could be in her place instead. But I was happy. It was because I got to know Tomo-kun. Shun-san and I were having so much fun together that we forgotten about the time. Soon, we headed to our dormitory.
"Arigatou, Shun-san…. Ureshikatta…." I grinned.
Shun-san scratched his head and smiled. "That's okay…. I'm also having a great time with you, Maki-chan…."
"Really?" I laughed. "Me too…." Then, both of us laughed as we entered the lobby.
"How long are you guys going to laugh like that?"
Shun-san and I were startled. It was Tomo-kun, who was sitting at the lobby alone. "Tomo-kun… What are you doing here?" I asked.
Tomo-kun pressed his lips and looked away. "Of course I'm waiting for you…."
"Eh? Waiting for me?" I asked curiously.
Then suddenly, Shun-san laughed. "Jaa ne, Maki-chan…." He smiled and walked away. He then approached Tomo-kun and tapped on his shoulder before he headed to his room. "Gomen…. For borrowing her just now…" he sniggered. But I still didn’t get anything.
Then, for a while…. Tomo-kun and I were stood like that for a second. Finally, he spoke. "Where have you been with Shun?" he asked.
"Eh? Ahh…. We have been waiting for you guys but Masami-san cancelled it so Shun-san said that he was hungry so he invited me to come along." I said simply.
"Really?"
"Ne, Tomo-kun…. Why do you ask?" I asked him again.
He startled. "Eh?" he looked at me and turned away. "Actually… I was worried. I wasn’t being able to see you during our dinner time. I keep imagining things about you…. And you… Why didn’t you call me? You scare me, don’t you know that?" then he turned to me….
I couldn’t help it but to smile widely. I was happy that Tomo-kun was actually worried about me. "Thanks for worrying about me…. I'm happy when you did that. And sorry for making you worry about me." I bowed.
"It was nothing….. Next time, call me if you're going somewhere so that I will not be worried…"
I looked up and smiled. "Hait!" He was blushing; I could see his red cheeks. It was the first time I saw him like that…. Then, both of us laughed…. I love when I laughed with you…. I just love your smile….
