Chapter 9

no Doubts, no Fear

Junsu looked through the window and observed the beach. It was a beautiful view. He was putting on his shirt and a sweatshirt for the morning exercises before it was even 7 o’clock. Yoochun just got out of bed and was yawning. »Morning, Chunnie«, Junsu greeted and Yoochun grumbled around.

To cheer him up, Junsu walked over to him and made some weird movements with his arms to keep Yoochun from falling back to sleep whilst standing. »What are you doing?« He didn’t seem to be in a very good mood. Just like the past couple of days, but Junsu couldn’t figure out what it was.

»Wake up, wake up! Go Chunnie!«, he was singing to tease him and to ease the odd tensions. »Come on, Junsu. I’m really not in the mood for jokes. I need to get ready now, sorry.« Junsu’s smile disappeared as Yoochun closed the bathroom door behind him. »I’ll meet you downstairs«, he yelled through the door and tried to sound as optimistic and hyper as always.

With slow steps and an upside down smile, he went down the stairs. Changmin was stretching his muscles while Yunho came in, too, supporting Jaejoong who still felt the pain in his foot. »How are you doing?«, Junsu asked to be polite but he actually didn’t care, as mean as it seemed. He just didn’t have the time or strength to think about anything.

His boyfriend’s mood had pulled him down so much recently that he felt as if some part inside of him had died. »Well, it’s getting better«, Jaejoong replied but Junsu wasn’t listening. »They have to cut my foot off because of the poison«, Jaejoong said and Junsu just nodded.

»Are you alright, Junsu? You aren’t paying attention at all.« »Hm? Oh, yeah. I’m good. Maybe I need a little bit of fresh air to get back to life.« »That’s a good idea. I’ll go with you, since I can’t dance that much anyway.« Junsu just nodded, not participating in existence. Jaejoong left to talk to Yunho for a moment and Junsu just left.

He walked towards the water but stayed on the path that went parallel to the coast. He kept walking and could feel the hot sun rising slowly and heating up the fresh morning air. He breathed deeply. What was going on? He himself didn’t even know why he was so upset and his mind so screwed up.

»Hey, dork!« He turned around and saw Jaejoong limping towards him. He suddenly felt bad for just leaving him and letting him run after him although he was injured. When Jaejoong had reached him, they kept walking next to each other. »Shouldn’t we sit down somewhere?« He looked at Jaejoong’s foot. »No. I’m fine. Do you know what could have happened to you, walking around in an area you’ve never seen, with people you don’t know? Now that’s what I call stupid.« Junsu didn’t respond. After a couple of meters Jaejoong started grimacing and paused. »Ok, let’s take a little break.«

They sat down on a wooden jetty near the water and he sighed in relief. He might be in great pain. »So..., how are things working out for you and Yunho-ah?« Jaejoong smirked. »Pretty well, I think.« »Pretty well?« »Well, I can’t complain. We’re doing good.« But Jaejoong’s expression turned a little darker. »But?«, Junsu asked.
His mind seemed to clear up a little when he was thinking about something other than Yoochun. Jaejoong looked across the sparkling water and his thoughts began to wander. »We had a talked yesterday«, he said and his voice sounded far away. There was a little spark in his eyes, as if he was a little school girl remembering her first kiss. »What about?«

»I told him about Lila.« Now his look went to the sky. »I told him that I was jealous. He promised he would never cheat on me«, he said and smirked happily but his smile disappeared. »But what’s the problem then? Shouldn’t you be happy about it?« »Sure...« »But?« »But I don’t want him to make a promise when he can’t even be sure if he can stick to it. I don’t want him to promise me anything just to make me feel better, to make me happy.«

Junsu sighed and patted Jaejoong’s back. »Do you honestly think that he’s that stupid? How many times do I have to tell you that he wouldn’t risk your relationship?« Jaejoong nodded. »I know. But you know that he simply likes to be charming and all seductive with women.« »Come on. You can’t be serious. He has been loving you for all those years. YOU are the only person he desires and you know it.«

»You’re probably right.« Jaejoong looked and Junsu, who just shrugged as if saying »I told you so«. »Ok, never mind. I know that I think and worry too much. So, what’s new about you and Yoochun?« Junsu felt already ridiculous enough not knowing what was going on with his boyfriend, but now he was having a conversation with his best friend about relationships? They were behaving like old housewives.

»We were planning to take everything more seriously.« He was subconsciously playing around with his ring. »Wait, what’s that?« Junsu looked at the ring Jaejoong was pointing at. »Oh, that’s our couple ring.« Jaejoong hesitated. »Sorry, Junsu, but I’ve never seen Yoochun wearing that kind of ring.«

Junsu sighed and now it was his turn to observe the churning see. »I know. Obviously we cannot wear it at the same time. And also, he forgot his ring at my parents’s house.« »Uh, that sucks. But wait...what? You visited your parents?« Junsu nodded. »Yeah. We thought they should know. Don’t worry, they are not going to tell anybody.« »Oh, no. I wasn’t worried about that. But I didn’t know that we can get that serious.« He seemed really surprised.

Junsu raised his eyebrow and looked and Jaejoong. »We?« »I mean, you and Yoochun, me and Yunho...« »Because we’re gay. I see. But why shouldn’t we have the same opportunities as normal couples? It’s still love, isn’t it?« That conversation was becoming way too cheesy. Especially for two men. »I know«, Jaejoong responded and scratched his head. »I’ve just never thought about it that much.«

He was reminding Junsu so much of himself when he and Yoochun got together. Never thought about the future because of all the scary things that can happen to you...

»So, your visit at your parents’s place was actually like a meet-your-future-so-in-law visit?« »We are not engaged!« »And what’s that then?« Jaejoong pointed at the ring and was obviously amused about Junsu red face. »Couple rings! Not a big deal.«»Yell it a little bit louder so everybody can hear it«, Jaejoong laughed. »But seriously now. O you think the two of you would marry if it wasn’t so absolutely illegal back home?«

»I guess so. I don’t know.« Junsu lowered his head. »At least that’s what I think.« Jaejoong looked at him asking. »I don’t know how he feels about us anymore. Sometimes it feels like I’m the only one taking it seriously.« »What the heck, Junsu! Now you are talking crap. If there is anything I can be sure about, than it is definitely that Yoochun loves you.« »How would you know?«, Junsu asked sarcastically. »I have eyes, Junsu. I can see how he looks at you. How he talks to you.«

»It’s just... I don’t know.« »What makes you even think that?« »H-he has been acting so cold lately. It was really strange.« Jaejoong leaned back and watched some clouds. »What do yo mean?« »Sometimes it feels like he doesn’t want me around him.« »Understandable. Fans and paparazzi are lurking everywhere.«

»But sometimes it’s almost as if...as if he doesn’t even love me anymore.« »Shut up, Junsu!«, Jaejoong yelled. »Don’t even think that kind of stuff. Don’t be as stupid as me an pull random things out of nowhere.« Junsu cleared his throat.

»Let’s go back to the others before they’re getting worried.« Jaejoong nodded and with those words said, Junsu declared the conversation over and done with.

Junsu laid a supporting hand aroung Jaejoong's waist do help him walk. Jaejoong laid a supporting hand around Junsu's shoulders for his stuttering, doubting heart.

"We're gonna rock this tonight", he said and both of them smiled.
