Hsuan Huan sat in her bedroom sewing a flower on a hankiechief, every needle and thread was made from the finest material. She smiled to herself knowing that her husband would be back from war soon. Just as she sewed the last thread onto the hankiechief, she accidentally pricked herself with the needle.
“Ouch…” Hsuan Huan squealed a little. She looked out the window and the sky was beginning to darken, she knew this wasn’t a good sign.
Ga Wing banged on the front door of the Cheuk Mansion, “Open up! Open the door!” he kept yelling.
A few moments later the front door opened. Ga Wing ran into the back of their mansion towards Hsuan Huan’s room. He finally reached her room and knocked on the door hastily, “Madam Hsuan…”
Hsuan Huan jumped out off her chair and opened the door to see Ga Wing soaked from the rain, “Ga Wing? What are you going here? Why aren’t you with Cheuk Hei?”
Ga Wing and Hsuan Huan were childhood lovers. Since they were small they were determined to marry each other, but because of the significant contrast in their family background they were denied marriage. Even thought Ga Wing studied hard to gain a honourable position by the emperor’s side but it was still no use, Hsuan Huan had been arranged to marry an general officer and the nephew of the emperor, Cheuk Hei who is younger than her. Although devastated, Ga Wing knew that this was for the best and even though he wasn’t able to be with her, he was willing to stay by her side as well as assist Cheuk Hei.
“General… general Cheuk was shot by an arrow…” Ga Wing said almost out of breath.
Hsuan Huan was shocked as she stepped back dropping her sewing, “I have to see him…”
“It’s too dangerous,” Ga Wing was worried that not only was it in battlegrounds but also the weather was just no suitable to for long distances.
“Please Ga Wing, take me to him,” she pleaded as tears were flowing from her eyes.
Ga Wing knew that taking her to him is the only thing he could do for her. He nodded his head and agreed to take her.
*Qing Battle Headquarters*
Chuek Hei lay on the bed with the arrow still stuck in him. His face was pale and sweating in pain. Although he was younger than Hsuan Huan but since he was small he had always admired her and hoped to marry her one day. Cheuk Hei tried to get up off the bed, “I have to see her…”
“General Cheuk, please don’t move. You are in no shape to get up,” the doctor recommended.
Cheuk Hei didn’t care about his wounds; he knew that this might be his last chance to see his wife. With all his strength he got up and stumbled outside the tent. The night was dark and the rain and wind made it difficult for anyone to even move. Cheuk Hei pushed everyone out of the way and ran outside the headquarters towards a cliff side where he saw Hsuan Huan and Ga Wing riding on a horse in his direction.
Hsuan Huan and Ga Wing halted their horses and jumped off. She saw Cheuk Hei and without thinking she ran towards him but the winds were blowing too hard and the rain made the grounds extremely slippery. Hsuan Huan took a wrong step and slipped falling off cliff side.
Ga Wing saw and immediately jumped grabbing her hand as she hung off the cliff side, “Hold on!” he shouted as he grabbed onto her hand.
Cheuk Hei saw and although injured he ran towards Ga Wing. Ga Wing was using all his strength to pull her up but the rain and wind was hitting hard on his face. He felt her hand was loosing grip but he still held it tightly. Cheuk Hei reached down trying to grab her other hand.
A lunar eclipse suddenly appeared darkening the skies. A sudden strike of lightening appeared in the sky followed by a loud bang of thunder making both Ga Wing and Cheuk Hei lose their grip.
“Hsuan Huan!” they both shouted as they watched her falling down deep into the valley of the cliff.

A sixty-year-old Bernice was in her bedroom cleaning out some old photos that had been sitting around for a while. She browsed through the photo album and smiled to herself as it brought back a lot of happy and priceless memories.
Charmaine, Bernice’s daughter walked pass her mothers bedroom and saw her sitting on the bed smiling to herself. She raised an eyebrow and knocked on the door, “What are you looking at?” she asked as she sat on the bed next to Bernice.
Bernice showed Charmaine the photos of her and Moses when they were young, “Look at your father. Look how good looking he was when he was 32.”
Charmaine looked at the photo carefully and smiled, “Dad was quite attractive in his younger days,” she linked arms and Bernice, “and you were very beautiful too mum and you still are. I bet if you entered a beauty pageant now all the young girls would have to step aside.”
A sixty-four year old Moses laughed as he walked into the room, “Always know how to make your mother happy.”
“Hey dad,” Charmaine jumped up gave her dad a hug, “anything happen at the hotel today?”
“Nothing that will interest you,” Moses took off his coat and placed it on the chair.
Charmaine smiled cheekily. She kept flipping through the photo albums and came across a very old black and white photo that was a little faded, “Who’s this?”
Bernice looked carefully, “That’s your great, great, great grandmother,” she took out the photo, “Can’t really see her face which is a pity.”
Charmaine had a Masters degree in Computer Science and History thus she was an expert with anything to do with computers, “Leave it up to me,” she took the photo and ran back to her room to digitally enhance the photo.
Several minutes later Charmaine printed out the photo. She looked carefully at the photo at her great, great, great, grandmother and noticed she was wearing very traditional royal Qing outfit. Although Charmaine knew her ancestors were very wealthy during the Qing period but she had no idea that she carried royal blood. She ran back to her parent’s room and could hear intense arguing between Bernice and Moses.
“Why do you have this?” Bernice shouted, “I thought you told me that you never thought about those two women ever again and here you are keeping the gifts they gave you.”
“I don’t even know where you’re getting all of this from, its not what you think,” Moses yelled back at Bernice.
Charmaine stood outside listening to their argument and sighed, she had never actually heard her parents argue before, this was the first time.
“If you miss them two so much why did you even marry me?” Bernice questioned.
“Stop talking crazy,” Moses was annoyed her stupid question.
“I’m not afraid to divorce you at this age you know,” Bernice said out of anger even though she didn’t mean it.
“Fine, do what ever you want,” he replied in anger too.
Charmaine’s heart was wrenching hearing her parent’s argue to the point of divorce. She couldn’t take it anymore and grabbed her bag and laptop leaving their mansion. Charmaine walked towards their garage and thought about where she could go, although she had no idea but anywhere is better than hearing her parents argue. She put her backpack on and jumped on motorbike speeding off.
The night was getting darker and Charmaine started to feel sprinkles of rain falling from the sky. She kept riding and thinking at the same time, “Who are those two women?” she asked herself.
The night was completely dark as a lunar eclipse darkened the skies. The rain got heavier but Charmaine riding trying to find cover. A sudden lighting strike followed by thunder flew across the sky; Charmaine suddenly jumped hearing the thunder and lost control of her motorbike. She jammed on the breaks trying to stop but the bike skidded along the ground making her fall off. Charmaine fell off the bike and rolled across the ground hitting her head on a concrete wall.

*Hong Kong Year 2007, On the Street, 7:12am*
Charmaine was lying on the ground still wearing her backpack. Her eyes slowly opened as the bright sunlight shone in her eyes. Charmaine sat up and leaned against the concrete wall clenching her head. She shook her head a little then stood up off the ground. Charmaine looked around at the dry grounds, which didn’t even look like it rained.
Though it was a little strange but Charmaine didn’t think twice about why it looked like it hadn’t rained. She scanned around her surrounding noticing something different but she just couldn’t figure out what it was, she started walked up the street then turned back around, “Where’s my bike?” she mumbled to herself. She walked back searching everywhere but she knew someone either stole it or it flew somewhere far when she fell off. So she just gave up and kept walking up to street to see if she could find somewhere to catch a taxi home.
Two Porsches came speeding down the road, competing their speed, “Not bad for not sleeping the whole night,” Raymond Lam said into his bluetooth as he drove slightly in front of the black Porsche.
A young Moses changed into fifth gear pressing his foot on the accelerator overtaking Raymond, he laughed into his bluetooth, “I think someone needs to go home for a sleep.”
Raymond changed gears and drove faster out in front of Moses, “ Yeh… and that person is you,” as he drove pass Moses’s Porsche down the road.
Charmaine’s head was still aching a little from the collision with the wall. She kept walking down the street looking around, “I remember there was a shopping centre here,” she hit her head a little thinking it was further down the road.
She stood at the lights waiting to cross. The pedestrian lights turned green and Charmaine begun walking. Raymond sped down the road turning a corner, little did he see Charmaine crossing the road and jammed on his breaks skidding across the road. He turned his steering wheel trying to get control.
Charmaine stood in the middle of the road so shocked she wasn’t even able to move as Raymond’s car stopped right in front of her almost touching her legs. A drip of sweat fell from her forehead as she stared at Raymond’s silver Porsche.
Raymond got out of his car and instead of asking how Charmaine was he immediately ran up to the front of his car and looked carefully, “No scratches,” he turned back to Charmaine who was still just standing there shaking from almost being hit, “Lady watch where your going next time. If you scratched my car, I doubt you would be able to afford to pay to get it fixed,” Raymond said in a snobby tone.
Charmaine couldn’t believe what she was hearing, “You almost hit me.”
“What’s your point?” Raymond took his glasses off and wiped the lens on his shirt.
“You almost hit me with your car,” Charmaine said loud and clear again.
Moses stopped his car next to Raymond’s and saw he arguing with Charmaine. He stepped out of his car wearing a long black coat and aviator sunglasses covering his eyes and about a third of his face.
“What’s going on Ray?” he asked coolly as he stood by his car.
Charmaine glanced over at the Moses. The more she looked at him the more familiar she thought he was but she couldn’t see his face because of the huge sunglasses he was wearing.
“Just give her money Ray, its obvious that’s what she wants.”
