Chapter 17

Appreciated

*Hillside Road, 10:00pm*

The car sped down the dark road and finally came to a stop next to a parked car. The windows of the other car winded down exposing Steven’s face grinning in triumph.

“I don’t think he will be your competition anymore Mr. Ma,” the driver said.

Steven had an evil smirk on his face, he was so delighted to hear what happened to Raymond, “I never wanted him to die, only wanted to teach him a lesson but if he does die then its his own bad luck,” Steven threw his head back and laughed loudly. He started his car and sped off back home.

Charmaine looked down at the hillside where Raymond fell, complete darkness covered the forest area. She couldn’t see anything and began to panic. Charmaine carefully walked down the hill trying to find him, “Raymond Lam!” she shouted.

A sudden fall of rain fell from the sky, Charmaine picked up her pace a little as she kept searching for Raymond. The rain got heavier and Charmaine took a wrong step and slipped on the surface rolling down the hillside. Luckily she came to a quick stop as she hit something soft. The rain was hitting her face as she looked at what she hit.

“Raymond!” she shouted seeing an unconscious Raymond lying next to the tree with scratches on his forehead with blood oozing out and his shirt being torn. Charmaine crawled next to him and slapped his face trying to wake him up, “Raymond!”

Raymond twitched his eye feeling the cold hard rain hitting against his face. He slowly opened his eyes and saw Charmaine, “What happened?”

Charmaine smiled in relief, “You fell down the hill, are you hurt?”

Raymond sat up and held onto his head, “I think I’m fine.” He tried standing up but fell back down again, “Can’t walk.”

The rain got heavier and heavier by the second. Charmaine knew that they needed to get back to the main road to find their way back. She stood in front of Raymond and lifted him up, she turned around, “Get on my back, I’ll carry you up.”

“Are you being serious?” Raymond yelled through the rain.

Charmaine took his hands and wrapped them around shoulders, “Yeh,” and lifted him up. She could barely walk properly carrying the weight of Raymond but she kept on going.

Raymond had a slight grin on his face as Charmaine was carrying him. Charmaine was struggling to walk up the hill but she used all her strength to move. She took a step but the surface was too slippery, losing grip of Raymond as well as falling back. Raymond jumped off Charmaine’s back and held onto her hand so she wouldn’t slide down the hill again.

“Hold on,” Raymond pulled Charmaine back and sat her on the ground, “That was close.”

Charmaine looked up and saw Raymond standing up as normal, “You’re not hurt,” she yelled slapping his leg.

Raymond laughed a little, “Just wanted to see how strong you are,” he bent down besides Charmaine, “Sorry.”

Charmaine tried getting up but she had sprained her knee and wasn’t able to walk, “Great, now I can’t walk.”

Raymond smiled and held out his hand, “I’ll carry you this time.”

Charmaine didn’t hesitate and gave her hand to Raymond. He lifted her up and carried her on his back and began walking up towards the road, “You’re quite heavy you know?” he joked.

Charmaine slapped Raymond on the shoulder as a sign not to mock her weight, “Thanks for saving me just then.”

“That’s what friends are for, right?” Raymond said as he kept walking.

“Friends?” Charmaine questions what he meant by the word friend.

Raymond lifted one of his hands and placed it up near Charmaine, “Yep, that’s if you want.” He held his hand up waiting for Charmaine to accept his friendship or not.

Charmaine thought about it for a while, although Raymond was arrogant, rude and lazy but he did risk his life to save her. She knew he wasn’t that bad after all, she took her hand and shook his, “Friends…”

Raymond and Charmaine reached the top of the road and walked a random way following the road hoping that it was the right direction to the meeting point. After walking for half an hour a car pulled up beside them, the doors open and Louisa and Frankie jumped out of the car.

“We’ve been looking all over for you,” Frankie said helping Charmaine down, “Get in.”

Raymond and Charmaine both jumped in the car and headed back to the main camp area.

*Ma Mansion, 12:11am*

Steven strolled though the front doors and headed upstairs towards his room. He was in an extremely good mood and he reached the top of the stairs where Joe was waiting for him, “Dai Gor.”

Without warning Joe slapped Steven hard on the face. Steven was totally confused to what was happening, “What’s this for?”

“What did I tell you? Do not mess with Raymond Lam now,” Joe shouted.

Steven felt his cheek burning, “How did you know,” Steven looked over and saw Bosco standing by his door, he pointed at him, “Did you tell Dai Gor?”

Bosco didn’t answer and turned around closing the door behind him. Steven walked forward wanting to confront Bosco but Joe stopped him, “You think he told me? You’re lucky he’s not going to arrest you. I’ve got people watching Steven.” Joe took a deep breath, “I’m warning you for the last time, don’t mess with them just yet.”

Joe turned and slammed the door to his room. Steven couldn’t believe it; he clenched his fist in anger knowing that this wasn’t over.

Bosco sat on his bed staring up at the ceiling, he knew that Steven would blame him again and give him a hard time but there was nothing he could do about it because after all, Steven is his brother. A few minutes later Bosco received a message on his phone. He picked it up and read the message.

“Sleep well. Everything will have a new start tomorrow, life would be happy again. Myolie”

Bosco smiled reading the message Myolie sent him. He opened up his message histories and every night at the same time Myolie would send him a message encouraging him and making him happy. It was the sweetest and most caring thing someone had ever done for him.

*Westwood Apartment, 9:16am*

Myolie had a late start at the hotel; she finished making breakfast for Jessica before heading out the door. She quickly put her shoes on and walked towards the front door. A card addressed to her was on the floor; she picked it up and opened it up.

“Thanks for everything. Bosco.”

Myolie smiled to herself as she slipped the card in her bag and left for work.

*Outside Westwood Apartment, 9:23am*

For the past few days it had been raining non-stop. Ron and Tavia were waiting in Ron’s car, which was parked across the road from the apartment.

“When she comes out, get your umbrella and then tell her you want to give her a lift to work then ask her out,” Tavia told Ron.

“What if she has her own umbrella?” Ron asked.

Tavia hit Ron over the head, “You can always give a lift to work,” she looked over at the entrance seeing Myolie walk out, “Ok go.”

Ron opened the car door and was about to get out of the car but stopped seeing someone approach Myolie. Ron closed the car door and watched them from a distance with Tavia.

Myolie looked through her bag only to realise she left he umbrella upstairs. Bosco appeared in front of Myolie holding an umbrella, “Hi.”

“Hi,” Myolie was startled a little not really expecting Bosco to be there, “What are you doing here?”

“Did you get my card?” Bosco asked.

Myolie took the card out of her bag to show him, “Thank you.”

Bosco smiled and shook his head, “I should be the one thanking you. I’m really lucky to have met someone like you,” Bosco held out his hand in front of Myolie, “I’m hoping that from now on you will let me take care of you. I’ll always be by your side like you were by my side. I’ll give you my jacket when it’s cold, I’ll hold an umbrella up when its raining.”

Tavia squinted her eyes from the see what was happening, “What do you think they’re taking about?”

Although Ron wasn’t sure but he could just sense it would be something he didn’t like.

Bosco kept his hand in front of Myolie, “I really like you. Will you be my girlfriend?”

Myolie was truly touched by his words, she knew the feelings inside of her were the same as Bosco’s and now that he actually said it, it just confirmed her feelings towards him. Myolie held out her hand and placed it onto Bosco’s hand and smiled at him nodding her head.

Bosco held on tightly to Myolie’s hand and smiled, it was the happiest thing that has ever happened to him. He covered Myolie with his umbrella as they walked down the street.

Ron kept watching them walk together hand in hand. Although he tried but the disappointed look to his face was obvious to Tavia. Tavia patted Ron on shoulder, comforting him.

“I’m fine,” Ron could barely smile as he watched Bosco and Myolie walk further down the road.
