Chapter 27

Encountered

*Grand Hotel, 12:15pm*

It had been a couple of weeks since the death of Steven, everyone in the Grand Hotel seemed to have forgotten about his death after the police reported that is was purely a traffic accident. Moses had actually been at the hotel for the pass two weeks, for some reason he just had a bad feeling that Joe was going to do something. Although he wasn’t sure what Joe was going to do and he might even be able to help but he felt a need to be there.

“Has Joe Ma been up to anything these days?” Moses asked Kevin as the approached the front desk.

Kevin shook his head, “Nothing… I’ve heard that he hasn’t been attending any meetings or even been at his hotel for that matter. Why?”

“It’s just not like him,” Moses pondered, thinking what this guy was up to.

Kevin was another person who knew the traits of Joe, although was calm and subtle in his doings, but similar to Steven, they were both a man of revenge, “It’s too quiet… a bit to quiet even for Joe.”

Moses and Kevin approached the front desk where Tavia was just finishing off a customers booking, “Dai Gor, Mr. Cheuk,” she greeted.

“How polite, don’t you usually call me Dai Gor like Ron does,” Moses joked.

Tavia smiled, “I thought about it but then it might get my real Dai Gor jealous.”

“I will get jealous,” Kevin laughed a little, “Ready for lunch?”

“Yep,” Tavia signed off the computer, “Done.”

“Joining us Moses?” Kevin asked.

“Sure, it’s not like Bernice is available for lunch now, I guess I’ll settle for second best then,” Moses couldn’t help but to laugh at his own joke.

“Thanks for that,” Kevin and Tavia both said sarcastically.

Moses began walking, “At least I chose you over Raymond.”

Kevin and Tavia walked alongside Moses towards the restaurants, “That’s because Raymond is too busy cleaning rooms now, I don’t think he even has time to eat properly.”

Moses started laughing out loud imagining Raymond cleaning rooms and changing sheets, “But he seems to be enjoying it, after all he gets to be with his lover all day."

Kevin glanced at his watch, “Better hurry, Jessica is waiting for us.”

Moses suddenly stopped hearing Jessica’s name, for some reason he was really afraid of her, every time he saw her he would try his hardest to avoid her just in case she starts to lecture him again, “Um… I have to do something,” without even letting Kevin or Tavia to respond Moses had already ran off.

Kevin and Tavia walked into the restaurant and saw Jessica sitting by the window by herself, “Hi.”

“Hello,” Jessica smiled, extremely happy to see Tavia again, “Where is Ron?”

“I think he is in a meeting,” Tavia answered taking a sip of water.

“I would of thought that you two would always be together,” Jessica assumed seeing that most times she Ron was in fact with Tavia.

“Those two are inseparable,” Kevin added looking at the menu.

“No we’re not, I studied overseas for a few years without Ron.”

Kevin put the menu down, “Yeh, that’s because Ron said to study there. Plus I think you spoke to him more over the phone than you did with me.”

Jessica sat back and examined Tavia, she wasn’t sure why but she really liked Tavia. A main reason was that she was Ga Wing’s descendents and also thought she was a good match for Ron.

*Grand Hotel, Room 314, 2:21pm*

Raymond and Charmaine had returned to work after the several incidents that happened in the pass few weeks. For once, Raymond was actually enjoying work; the main reason for his enjoyment was that he got to spend more time with Charmaine. The both of them were cleaning a room with two single beds and Raymond thought he would have some fun.

He looked up at Charmaine who was changing the other bed, “I’ll race you?”

Charmaine raised an eyebrow, “Bring it on…”

Raymond smiled slightly, “Don’t cry if you lose,” he warned Charmaine, “Go!”

The both of them speedily started changing the sheets and pillowcases for their bed. Raymond was clearly leading Charmaine but he slowed his pace down to match hers.

Charmaine tucked her blankets in, “Done!” she turned around to Raymond who had just finished, “Looks like you’re the one who should be crying.”

“Just not good enough…” Raymond said pretending he lost to Charmaine, he pushed the trolley full of dirty linen out of the room and down the hallway, “What are we going to do after work?”

Charmaine shrugged her shoulders, “Don’t know… I want to go home and sleep.”

“Sleep? Come on… let’s do something, I want to see you more,” Raymond pouted his lips.

Charmaine pinched his cheek and laughed, “I see you everyday. I see you at work then after work. Won’t you get sick of me?”

“Nope,” Raymond answered promptly.

Frankie walked up the hallway and saw Raymond and Charmaine chatting away, he cleared his throat loudly, “Are you two actually doing work? Or dating?”

Raymond stopped, “We are doing both.”

Charmaine stopped and greeted Frankie; everything between them was now back to normal. The feelings she had towards him had gone and the only feelings she had was towards Raymond.

“Well I’m off now,” Frankie turned to Charmaine, “If Ray doesn’t work properly then just tell me and I’ll deduct his wages.”

Charmaine laughed, “I will…”

Frankie could tell things were normal between him and Charmaine now, “That’s good.”

*Ma Mansion, 6:09pm*

Bosco arrived home from the station and strolled upstairs to his room passing Joe’s study. Joe had been stuck at home for weeks now, he still hadn’t forgotten about Steven’s death. Bosco knocked on the door and walked inside.

“Dai Gor, are you ok?” he asked curiously.

“I can’t do this alone… I can’t run the hotel alone anymore,” Joe started mumbling to himself, “I need time to revenge…”

“What did you say?” Bosco asked walking closer to Joe.

Joe looked up at Bosco, “Bosco, you have to come back to the hotel,” although Joe didn’t really want to ask Bosco but now that Steven was dead he found it difficult to take care of the hotel and avenge for Steven’s death at the same time.

“I… don’t…” Bosco started saying.

“I know you don’t know much about hotel management, but I’ll teach you,” Joe stood up walking towards Bosco, “you have to come back. Now that Steven is gone, we have to stick together. Do it for family, do it for dad…”

Bosco could tell the desperation in Joe’s eyes, if it wasn’t because Joe was being distracted, he could have easily handled the hotel by himself. He had been running the hotel by himself for many years and though Steven was the General Manager but he was no use anyways.

“I’ll come back…”

Joe patted Bosco on the shoulder, “We brothers have to stick together, from now, you will take over Steven’s position as the GM.”

Bosco knew that Joe only wanted him to help because he wanted to concentrate on other things thus his only option was to get his non-biological brother to help him out. Bosco grinned slightly in acceptance, though he knew the reason behind this but he didn’t mind.

*Outside Westwood Apartment, 8:14pm*

Myolie walked out of the gates and saw Bosco leaning against his car, “What’s the matter? Why did you call in such a hurry?”

Bosco held onto Myolie’s hand, “Will you blame me if I resign from being a police officer?”

“Why?” Myolie questioned not really knowing why Bosco would even consider this job that he loved so much.

“After the death of Steven, Dai Gor has really lost it, I really feel a need to go back and help him take car of the hotel,” Bosco explained.

Myolie smiled, she was so happy that Bosco really wanted her input and support in everything he did, “Of course I will support you.”

Jessica and Charmaine walked up the opposite side of the street, “Grandma, about the whole you getting flashes of me when I’m hurt, do you think it has anything to do with our time travelling?” Charmaine asked.

“I really don’t know, it only happened that once but after that everything has been normal,” Jessica handed her bag for Charmaine to carry.

Charmaine walked up the street taking Jessica’s bags, she kept thinking what the connection between her and Jessica was. There is no legitimate explanation to explain how Jessica not only saw but also felt what Charmaine felt when she was attacked. She tapped her head; this question was too hard to answer.

“There’s Myolie and her male friend,” Jessica pointed out. Charmaine and Jessica walked across the road, “Good evening,” Jessica greeted.

Bosco smiled and nodded his head, “Hello.”

It had been a few times Charmaine encountered with Bosco, although she thought Bosco was a nice guy but couldn’t help but to think how could Myolie choose him over her uncle. But then again, maybe fate hadn’t yet reached Ron and Myolie yet, “Hi,” Charmaine greeted politely.

“Um… I was just about to leave, “Bosco turned to Myolie, “I’ll call you tomorrow.”

“Bye,” Jessica reached in her pocket and grabbed a hanky out, but accidentally dropped it on the ground.

Bosco quickly bent down and picked it up. Charmaine kept starring at him, from the angle Bosco was at, Charmaine could of sworn she’d seen him somewhere in the future before.
