Chapter 35

Manipulation

*On the Street, 8:02pm*

Bosco parked his car on the side of the road and saw Myolie from a distance, he knew he just had to get it over and done with. Although it was a tough decision but it was one he had to make to keep his position as well as keep his relationship with Joe. Bosco jumped out of the car and walked towards Myolie.

“Bosco…” Myolie ran up to him, so happy to see him since it had been days since he had last saw him.

“Is there something you need?” Bosco asked in a slightly annoyed tone.

Myolie shook her head, “I just miss you, haven’t seen you in days,” she linked her arms around his but Bosco pulled his arm away.

“If there’s nothing important I have to go, Dai Gor wants me to work late tonight,” Bosco placed his hands in his pockets as he lied to Myolie.

“Oh… then you better get back to work, I’ll see you later. Work always comes first,” Myolie had always been supportive of him and placed everything of his before her.

Bosco was beginning to change his mind but he knew he had to stay firm, “Ok, I’ll see you later,” as he turned around he took his hands out of his pocket and dropped his wallet on the ground in front of Myolie and headed up the street.

Myolie who had always been slightly clueless had no idea that Bosco was being distant towards her, she stepped forward and kicked Bosco’s wallet on the ground. She picked up his wallet and immediately ran after him.

Bosco kept walking up the street knowing that Myolie would catch up to him any moment, he walked a little faster and saw Tavia in front of a convenient store holding his jacket.

“Hi, been waiting long?” Bosco greeted with a warm smile.

“Not at all,” Tavia was still holding onto his jacket.

Bosco shifted to the other side of Tavia so he would be able to see Myolie when she walked up, “So you feeling better?” he asked trying to by some time.

“I’m feeling a little better,” Tavia handed Bosco’s jacket back to him just as Myolie walked up the street towards them.

Bosco caught sight of her, he took his jacket off Tavia, “Thanks, I’m really glad your alright,” and grabbed Tavia by the shoulders and leaned in towards her kissing her on the lips.

Tavia had no idea what was going on, she wanted to stop Bosco but for some reason she found it hard to move. Bosco backed away from Tavia smiling and hugged her.

Myolie who was only a few metres away from them had saw everything like Bosco predicted and planned. Myolie took a few steps back, she didn’t know how to react seeing her boyfriend with another women, she wasn’t sure if she should confront him or pretend that she didn’t see anything.

Bosco kept hugging Tavia who was standing very, very still having no idea what was happening. He kept an eye on Myolie waiting for her to confront him but she still hadn’t. Bosco could tell that Myolie was hesitating and knew he had to take it into his own hands.

“Myolie…” he said out loud so Myolie could hear.

Tavia heard Bosco call out Myolie’s name and quickly pushed Bosco away, she turned around and saw Myolie standing right in front of them. All three of them stood in silence looking at each other; the atmosphere was awkward for Myolie and Tavia.

Myolie started smiling which was out of Bosco’s expectation, “Hi… umm… you dropped you wallet,” she handed it back to Bosco.

The reaction Myolie had was not what Bosco wanted, he took his wallet back and didn’t say anything. Tavia didn’t want to cause anymore trouble, “I’m going to go now…”

Bosco needed Tavia to get rid of Myolie, he grabbed onto her hand so she couldn’t leave. Myolie’s heart was slowly breaking as she held in her tears trying not to cry and kept smiling, “Don’t work to hard Bosco, call me when you’re done.”

“Sorry…” Bosco kept holding onto Tavia’s hand, “I know I shouldn’t have but I just couldn’t control myself. It wasn’t until recently that I found myself in love with…” Bosco turned to Tavia.

“What…?” Tavia was so confused, “I… don’t know… Myolie this…” she tried swinging her arm away but Bosco had a tight grasp.

Myolie found it hard to hold her tears in anymore, “Um… as long as your happy,” again she tried sounding encouraging and supportive of Bosco but deep inside it was killing her.

Bosco knew what he was doing was hurting Myolie and he really wanted to stop but he couldn’t. He watched as tears flowed down from her eyes.

“I’m going to go…” Myolie turned around and ran down the street as fast as she could crying out loud.

Bosco was saddened by the heartbreak, but it had already been too late for him to regret what he had done. He was still holding onto Tavia’s hand as his eyes filled with coldness and sadness watched Myolie run further and further away.

Tavia swung Bosco’s hand away, “What was that about?”

Bosco had to continue with his act, “I’m sorry, but I just can’t hide my feelings towards you anymore,” he stepped forward, “Tavia…”

Tavia backed away, “No… no,” and ran off quickly in the opposite direction.

Bosco didn’t bother chasing after Tavia but just kept staring in the direction Myolie was running, he smiled to himself as he shook his head. This was the only and the best way to get rid of Myolie. He walked back down the street towards his car and suddenly stopped, he had just realised using Tavia would have the same effect as Myolie and Joe wouldn’t like it, but since he was only using her it didn’t really matter.

*Westwood Apartment, 10:05pm*

Jessica was in her bedroom sitting on the bed sewing a hankiechief, each needle she sewed she kept on thinking about Kevin without even realising she was thinking about him. She smiled to herself, wanting to quickly finish it before the morning so she could give it to him as a present.

Jessica kept on sewing and pricked herself with the needle just as Charmaine burst through the bedroom doors, “I’m home…”

“Ouch!” Jessica quickly sucked on her finger, she eyed Charmaine a little, “What are you doing home? Aren’t you supposed to be with Raymond?”

Charmaine jumped on her bed and lay down missing her bed, “Ray has been busy at the office lately so he told me to come home instead of being alone at his place, plus I miss you,” Charmaine hugged Jessica tightly.

“Young lady,” Jessica trying struggling to release herself from Charmaine’s embrace because she couldn’t sew properly, “I’m trying to sew something.”

Charmaine finally let go, “What is it? Who’s it for?”

“It’s Kevin’s birthday so I thought…” Jessica began to say.

“Do you like him?” Charmaine moved next to Jessica with a cheeky grin, “What about grandpa?”

Jessica stopped sewing and paused for a long time, “I still love Cheuk Hei,” she suddenly realised that she hadn’t spoken about him or thought about him for a while, she wasn’t even sure if she would be able to see him again since they were stuck here.

Charmaine yawned, “Are you sure? You can like Kevin if you want, I don’t mind. He’s a good guy, I guess I can call him Grandpa too,” Charmaine teased Jessica.

Jessica didn’t respond and just sat on her bed, sewing and thinking. She didn’t know if what Charmaine said was right or not, was she beginning to like someone other than her husband, and it wasn’t just anyone. It was Ga Wing’s great, great grandson.

*Grand Hotel, General Managers Office, 7:08am*

Raymond had fallen asleep on his desk with paper work surrounding him. He had never had to read so much things before in his life and he finally understood how much work Ron, Kevin and his brother had to do to keep the hotel running smoothly. He was beginning to feel guilty for not helping out earlier. The light from the window shone in his eyes waking him up, he opened his eyes and yawned loudly stretching his arms.

He looked at the clock and ran downstairs towards the housekeeping department to find Charmaine. Raymond reached downstairs but she was off to work cleaning rooms. Raymond walked along the hallways trying to find her, since he worked with her; he knew what routes she would take. He saw Charmaine pushing a trolley of out a room and ran towards her.

“Charmaine…”

Charmaine turned around so thrilled to see him since it had been a few days and even if they do see each other it was only for a few minutes, “Hey…” she stroked his face seeing how tired he was, “did you do another all nighter?”

Raymond smiled and held onto to hand, “I’m alright,” he pulled her towards him and hugged her for a while, something that he hadn’t done for a while. Raymond closed his eyes, “I hate not being able to see you all the time, should I just go back to housekeeping?”

Charmaine backed away from Raymond and just looked at him, “Are you being serious? What about Frankie’s job?”

“I was just joking,” Raymond quickly added, “but I miss you,” he held onto her hands swinging them around, “how about I transfer you to another department where we have the same working times?”

“You can’t just transfer me…” Charmaine was about to say something else but she was being called by her partner to clean another room, “I’ll talk to you later,” and ran off down the hallway.

Raymond sighed, “That was a long conversation…” he mumbled to himself sarcastically. He turned around and walked back towards his office and it suddenly clicked to what position he could give Charmaine. He giggled to himself and made a call to human resources.

*Grand Hotel, Assistant GM’s Office, 8:55am*

Jessica walked slowly towards the office holding the hankiechief that she had sewed for Kevin. She wasn’t really sure if it would be a good idea to give it to him, it would be like betraying Cheuk Hei. But feelings like this sometimes just can’t be controlled.

Kevin saw Jessica pacing along towards the office and caught up with her, “Hey.”

Jessica jumped and dropped the hankiechief on the floor, “Ah!”

“Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you,” Kevin bent down and picked up the hankiechief, “Here.”

Jessica didn’t take it back and smiled shyly as she felt her face going slightly red, “Happy birthday,” she said softly and ran towards the female bathroom.

Kevin had a slight grin to his face thinking how cute Jessica was, he walked into his office and sat on his chair still holding onto the hankiechief, “Oh yeh… meant to give this back to her,” he said to himself as he nosily looked at the hankiechief. He looked carefully and saw his name sewed onto it.

Jessica walked back into the office and sat at her desk with her head down, Kevin immediately jumped up seeing her and walked towards her desk. Jessica saw him coming and kept her head down.

“Is this for me?” Kevin showed Jessica the hankiechief with his name on it.

“Um…” Jessica didn’t even look up and pretended to read, “I think so…”

“Did you sew this?” Kevin asked again.

“Um… sort of…” Jessica said in a soft gentle voice.

“Thank you,” Kevin felt so happy, although this gift wasn’t expensive with it was sewed with heart, Kevin leaned down towards Jessica and was about to give her a kiss on the cheek but stopped hearing noises of other staff members walking in. He quickly stood back up right, “Morning everyone…” and wondered back into his room.

*Grand Hotel Lobby, 11:14am*

Ron strolled downstairs from his office towards the front desk to check up on the daily bookings for the hotel, “Morning…” he greeted Tavia.

Tavia still hadn’t told him about what happened between Myolie and Bosco, “Hey…”

Ron could sense something wasn’t right, “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” Tavia lied shaking her head, “Just tired…”

“Ok…” Ron scanned around the front desk and noticed that Myolie wasn’t there again, “Where’s Myolie?”

Tavia couldn’t hide her guilty face so she kept her head down pretending to look at the computers, “Um… she called in sick.”

“Sick? Is she alright? Is it serious?” Ron asked in a somewhat panicky voice.

Tavia shrugged her shoulders, “Um… I have to get back to work…” she was trying to hard to not talk about Myolie, she really didn’t want to let Ron know what happened seeing that Ron cared so much about her. She quickly walked off leaving Ron standing by himself at the counter clueless to as to what was happening.

*Ma Mansion, 7:06pm*

Bosco walked through the front doors and saw Joe sitting on the lounge reading the newspaper, “Dai Gor…”

Joe placed the newspaper down, “How are things at the hotel?”

At this moment, Bosco really didn’t want to speak or even look at Joe, he hated the fact that he felt so under Joe’s control and he especially hated the fact that he was forced to give up Myolie. Although deep inside his hatred towards his brother was fuming but he took a calm approach to the whole situation.

“It’s alright…” Bosco answered.

“Are you still thinking about the Myolie? Forget about her, she’s no good for you.”

Bosco forced himself to smile at Joe, “I know…”

“See… I knew you would listen to me,” Joe put his hands around Bosco’s shoulders, “Us brothers can work together and bring down Grand Hotel.”

Bosco smiled slightly again, “I’m going to take a shower…” he walked up stair into his room and splashed his face with water; he looked at his reflection in the mirror. Coldness covered his whole face, he wiped the water dripping from his face, he looked up at his reflection again with a smirk, he wasn’t going to let Joe control him that easily anymore.
