Chapter 37

Elimination

*Grand Hotel, 10:57am*

Ever since Ron found out and thought that Tavia was the third party that broke up Myolie and Bosco, he hadn’t spoken and ignored her. He walked downstairs towards the front desk where both Myolie and Tavia were working.

Tavia really didn’t know what to do; her best friend misunderstanding her and ignoring her was just killing her inside. She looked up and saw Ron walking towards them and smiled hoping that Ron would just give her a chance to explain.

“Ron…” Tavia called out.

Ron heard her but didn’t even look at her and walked straight to Myolie, “Hey, how you feeling?”

Myolie looked over at Tavia and could see the saddened look on her face, “A lot better. Don’t be mad at Tavia.”

Ron didn’t say anything and glanced sideways to see what she was doing.

“I know you think she was the reason why Bosco and I broke up but relationships are a hard thing. If Bosco likes her then they should be together,” Myolie tried explaining to Ron hoping they could patch up their friendship.

Ron knew on some level Myolie was right but he still couldn’t help to be angry with Tavia.

“Don’t be mad with her for too long, ok?” Myolie said.

Ron smiled a little, “Ok,” he really couldn’t believe how generous Myolie was, she not only didn’t hate Tavia for causing the break-up but wanted him to forgive and patch things up with her. He really couldn’t help but to like her more, “Um… did you want to grab a bite together at lunch?”

Myolie smiled and nodded her head, “I’ll meet you at the cafeteria later,” she printed off the booking sheets from the computer, “I better get back to work.”

Ron was over the moon, “See you later then,” he walked back towards the elevators passing Tavia and again he ignored her.

Tavia put down her things and chased after Ron, she pulled on his shirt to stop him, “Ron…”

Ron turned around but didn’t say anything.

“Are you angry with me? I didn’t do anything, it was Bosco…” Tavia wanted to explain but Ron still didn’t want to listen.

“I don’t want to hear it, ok? Being a third party? I thought you would of known better than that, I’m very disappointed with you.”

Ron’s words struck Tavia hard; she had never imagined Ron being disappointed with her. Ron brushed Tavia’s hand off his shirt and continued walking to the elevator leaving Tavia behind almost in tears.

*Grand Hotel, Housekeeping, 11:42am*

Charmaine walked back into the housekeeping department and sat on the chair exhausted. She was so tired that she could hardly open her eyes. A few minutes later Louisa walked inside with a letter in her hand.

She walked up to Charmaine and handed her the letter, “Here.”

“What’s this?” Charmaine sat up opening the envelope.

“It was sent down from Human Resources,” Louisa replied curious to what was in the letter.

Charmaine opened the letter and read it carefully. She placed the letter on the table and knew this was all Raymond’s doing, “I’ll be right back,” and walked outside to find him.

*Grand Hotel, General Managers Office, 1153am*

“Where are you guys now?” Raymond asked Moses and Bernice as they spoke over the webcam.

“We are in Paris, the land of love,” Moses said.

“Don’t be so cheesy,” Raymond sat back on his chair, “How’s Bernice? How’s the baby?”

Moses laughed, “Don’t mention it, Bernice and her crazy hormones, she keeps in snipping at me for no reason. Plus she’s getting bigger by the day,” Moses whispered so Bernice wouldn’t be able to hear her.

Unfortunately Bernice heard and slapped Moses on the head, “I heard what you said Moses Cheuk.”

“I sense domestic violence,” Raymond joked.

“I know…” Moses agreed and again Bernice smacked him over the head again, “What was that for?”

“Well you folks have fun, don’t worry too much about the hotel.”

At this time Charmaine burst into in Raymond’s room holding the letter in her hand.

“OK, have fun guys,” Raymond waved goodbye and shut the webcam off.

“Wait!” Charmaine ran over to Raymond’s side of the desk, “I want to talk to them,” but it was too late Raymond had already switched it off, she slapped him on the arm, “I wanted to see how they were going.”

“They’re fine,” Raymond leaned back on his chair and saw the letter that Charmaine was holding, “So… you happy with the arrangement?”

Charmaine almost forgot why she wanted to talk to Raymond, “Why did you transfer me out of Housekeeping?”

“Because… I felt like it,” Raymond kept smiling at Charmaine.

“Why didn’t you even discuss this with me?”

Raymond was beginning to think Charmaine didn’t like his arrangement, “I just thought housekeeping was too tiring so if worked somewhere else then you won’t need to get up so early and be tired all the time.”

“Well where am I going to work then?” Charmaine asked.

Raymond pointed outside his office, “There… from now on you are my personal assistant, pretty cool huh?”

“You want me to be your servant and do all your work for you right?”

“Yes,” Raymond joked, “Course not, besides you not being so tired and helping me out the main reason is because I never get to see you anymore,” he held onto Charmaine’s hand, “We use to see each other all the time, at work then after work but now I’m lucky if I get to have lunch with you. I’ve been so busy I feel like I’ve neglected you.”

Charmaine pinched Raymond’s cheek, “I know you haven’t neglected me, you just have a lot of work to catch up on and continue with what Frankie left behind.”

Raymond loved how understanding Charmaine was, “Yeh but not seeing you really bums me out,” he stood up and held her close to him, “I just want to see you more, that’s all.”

Charmaine giggled and wrapped her arms around his neck, looking at him, “Fine, but if you start making me do your laundry then I’ll just have to quite.”

Raymond leaned forward and hugged her, “I promise, the most you will have to do is get me coffee.”

*Ma Mansion, 7:01pm*

Bosco walked through the front doors and all he could hear was Joe yelling and screaming. He walked inside and saw Joe throwing the newspaper across the room.

“Dai Gor,” Bosco walked over and picked the newspaper up and read the headline.

“How can Grand Hotel be the top hotel in Hong Kong?” Joe shouted furious at their triumphant.

Bosco didn’t say anything but stood there watching Joe burst into rage.

“That’s not possible!” Joe yelled, “How can that happen?” Ever since Steven’s death, Joe has been somewhat different, he hadn’t really been himself. Joe would lock himself in the study room obsessing on how to get revenge on Raymond and the Grand Hotel.

Joe fell back on the chair and his hand started shaking uncontrollably, he quickly reached in his pocket and grabbed a small bottle and tipped two tablets out and swallowed them. Bosco watched as Joe sat on the lounge regaining he senses back.

“What did you just take?” Bosco asked curiously.

Joe quickly hid the bottle again, “Nothing, none of your business,” Joe got up and walked back upstairs dropping the small bottle near the steps.

Bosco walked over and picked them up, he looked carefully at the label and walked into his room switching the computer on. Bosco spent a while searching what medicine Joe was taking. He scrolled down the website and came across the medicine with the same name. Bosco clicked on the link and read the description, a smirk immediately appeared on his face after he finished reading.

Joe was in the study room, still reading the newspaper, “I can’t let them win, I can’t let Raymond and Moses win. I have to take down Grand Hotel…”

*Grand Hotel, 9:00am*

Kevin sat in his office staring out the window into the office waiting for Jessica to arrive. Jessica had been avoiding Kevin ever since she realised the feelings she had inside for him. She walked into the office and straight to her desk to drown herself in work.

Kevin jumped up and walked outside to Jessica, he really wanted to know why she was avoiding him so much, “Jess…”

Jessica kept her head down and pretended to deep in work, “Can’t talk…”

“I just want to know why you’re avoiding me all of a sudden?” Kevin asked wanting an answer.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Jessica kept her head down.

Kevin knelt down beside her to try to have eye contact, “Did I do something wrong? Did I make you angry?”

Jessica turned her head the other way, “No, you didn’t do anything.”

“Then why are you avoiding me?” Kevin persisted wanting to know an answer.

“I don’t know,” Jessica stood up and pushed Kevin out of the way and ran out of the office towards the elevator.

Kevin quickly chased after her but the doors to the elevator doors had closed before he could reach her. He pressed the button for the next elevator to arrive, it just didn’t make any sense why Jessica avoided him so much, everything was fine until his birthday.

*Grand Hotel, Lobby, 9:15am*

Jessica arrived downstairs hoping Kevin wouldn’t follow her. She wondered across the lobby thinking about Kevin, the more she thought about him the more she felt guilty. She was sure of the feelings inside of her towards Kevin but she felt guilty, it was as if she was betraying Cheuk Hei. Even though she knew that she may never go back to her own time but she just couldn’t help but feel the guilt.

Jessica kept walking towards the side of the lobby and in the corner of her eye she saw a bag sitting next to a column. The bag looked like someone’s luggage, she walked over and looked around to see if anyone had left it behind. Jessica slowly opened the bag to see if she could find any source of ID to send it back to the owner.

Kevin came out of the lift and walked into the middle of the lobby trying to find Jessica. He looked over to the side and saw Jessica bent down taking something out of the bag. Kevin was considered a human encyclopedia; he loved to study and studied pretty much everything in every field of knowledge.

Jessica pulled out a piece of metal with wires attached to it. Kevin walked a little closer, suspicious of what she was holding. He was about to take another step but paused, a trickle of sweat fell from his forehead as he saw what she was holding.

Jessica had no idea what she was holding and was about to place it back in the bag. Kevin could see what she was about to do, he didn’t think twice and ran as fast as he could to stop her.

“Don’t move!” Kevin shouted loudly, making everyone in the hotel stop.

Kevin sprinted towards Jessica and slid down next to her, stopping her from moving.

“What’s going on?” Jessica was completely clueless to what was going on.

Kevin looked at the object then looked at Jessica with a terrified look to his face, “It’s a bomb…”
