Chapter 45

Shock

*The Cheng Ancestral Home, 8:42pm*

Even though Kevin found it hard to believe that Jessica was from the past and that he had fallen for the same person his ancestor Ga Wing did but he still couldn’t hide his feelings towards Jessica.

“You will be going back to the Qing dynasty,” Kevin said with a saddened tone.

Jessica stepped inside his room, “What? But how do you know?”

Kevin showed Jessica Ga Wing’s diary entry, “According to my ancestor Ga Wing, after you had fallen off the cliff they find you again.”

Jessica recalled back to the day she slipped off the cliff side, “But how would I get back?”

“I don’t know…” Kevin glanced at Jessica; he really couldn’t help but to ask, “I need to ask you, did you like me because I resemble my great, great grandfather?”

“I…” Jessica was a little hesitant in answering Kevin’s question.

Kevin smiled disappointedly, “You don’t have to answer that…”

“At first I thought that was the reason why I liked you, but after getting to know you more I realised that you and Ga Wing are totally different,” Jessica explained, “I like Kevin Cheng…”

Kevin was slightly delighted to hear her say that but there were so many other questions pondering in his head, “What about your husband Cheuk Hei?”

Jessica sighed, “I love him too, but I don’t know… coming here was unexpected, meeting you was unexpected, falling for you was unexpected.”

Kevin patted Jessica on the arm, he knew that this was tough for her, “If what my great, great grandfather wrote was correct, then you will be going back,” although Kevin didn’t want to but he knew it was the right thing to do, “I’ll help you…”

“What if I don’t want to go back?” Jessica blurted out.

Kevin flipped through the last few pages, “According to what my great, great grandfather wrote, you will have another sone named Cheuk Ho. If you do not go back and have this child then I can assure you that history will be changed. When we get back to Hong Kong, we have to somehow get a hold of Moses family tree and check exactly how Cheuk Ho is related. If he is the great grandfather of Moses and Ron then it is crucial that you go back to have this last child.”

Jessica had such mixed feelings about all of this, on one hand she wanted to go back but on the other she really didn’t want to leave Kevin.

*Prison Psychiatric Hospital, 5:06pm*

Bosco had arrived at the psychiatric hospital for his weekly visit to Joe. Although he didn’t want to visit him but to the outside world Bosco still had to pretend to care for his older brother. He stepped inside Joe’s room and sat by his bed.

Joe had stopped mumbling him killing Frankie but instead he had his eyes wide open and just stared at the ceiling with no reaction.

“Dai Gor, look at yourself,” Bosco said as he crossed his arms, “look what you got yourself into. Your lucky you’re even alive you know. If it wasn’t because you were a little nicer to me, I highly doubt you would even exist in this world.” Bosco leaned forward closer to Joe, “That’s why Steven isn’t around anymore. His abuse got him where he is now,” Bosco laughed out loud a little, “Don’t worry, even if we’re not blood related I will still consider you to my brother.”

Bosco stood back up and moved really close to Joe’s face, “Enjoy life here.”

*Ma Mansion, 8:21pm*

Bosco opened the front door and strolled inside the house. He stumbled across the living room and collapsed on the lounge. After taking on the position of the CEO, he had been working non-stop. He sat on the lounge and closed his eyes.

Tavia walked out of the kitchen and saw Bosco resting on the lounge, she crept of to him and wrapped her hands around him, “Hey…”

Bosco smiled and opened his eyes, he held onto Tavia’s hand and sat her down next to him, “Hey… what are you doing here?”

“Cooking, doing your washing and cleaning your house for you,” Tavia said enjoying every minute of doing Bosco’s housekeepers chores.

“Why are you doing these jobs? I have housekeepers you know,” Bosco was not fully immersed in treating Tavia like his real girlfriend. Everything she did or said he would keep in his heart, all of her special occasion he would also remember. He treated this lie to be his reality.

“I don’t know… I just felt like helping you.”

“Fine but next time just let the housekeepers do it, I don’t want my girlfriend to do too much work,” Bosco said firmly.

Tavia smiled sweetly and nodded her head, “Oh yeh,” she jumped up, “I was tidying your study and accidentally dropped this box on the ground, I think I broke the lock on it, sorry,” she handed the box to Bosco, “Just check if anything is broken inside.”

Bosco had never seen this box before; he pulled the lock off and opened the box. There was nothing inside beside for a letter and a piece of paper. He took the piece of paper and read it carefully. Bosco couldn’t believe what he was reading. He quickly opened the letter addressed to him from his father:

‘Bosco, I really don’t know what to say. I know from seeing your birth certificate you will have such mixed feelings of anger and confusion. All I want to say is I’m sorry. I’m sorry for giving you the identity of an adopted son when you are in fact my biological son. If it wasn’t because of the Cheuk family I wouldn’t of been forced to treat you as an adopted son. And your brothers wouldn’t of treated you so badly. I have nothing to wish for beside for your forgiveness. I really do hope that after reading this that you and your two brothers can work together to carry on the family goal of bringing down the Cheuk family.”

Bosco placed the letter that his father had written to him, his eyes were red, they were filled with sadness, anger and confusion. For all these years he had thought that he was adopted but the reality was that he wasn’t. “The Cheuk family…” Bosco recalled in the letter, “Dad said it had something to do with their family…” Bosco had only one feeling, which was anger. Although the letter didn’t explain what the Cheuk family had done but he trusted his father enough to believe that they had something to do with it.

Bosco suddenly thought of Steven’s death and Joe in the mental hospital, although he was the one responsible but he couldn’t help but to blame all of this on the Cheuk family, “You ruined my family…” Bosco mumbled to himself as he clenched his fist, “and now I’m going to ruin yours…”

*Grand Hotel, General Manager’s Office, 11:51pm*

Raymond and Ron sat in the office, both trying to think of a way to save the hotels reputation. For the past few night the both of them plus Moses had to come up with strategies to regain the trust for the hotel, letting customers know that Grand Hotel was a safe place to stay.

“Should we ask Moses to come in?” Raymond asked Ron as he took a sip of coffee.

Ron shook his head and stretched his arms, “Nah… he hasn’t been home for a while, he hasn’t really had time to spend with Bernice. Don’t bother him.”

Raymond stood up and paced his office; “The declining rate of the hotel is so rapid,” Raymond took his tie off and threw it on his desk.

“What about we enter some sort of charity event? Seems like charity always works, it can help our hotel and it’s a good cause,” Ron suggested.

“It’s always a shot but I don’t think that’s enough,” Raymond kept pacing the room and his stomach started to rumble, he glanced at his watch, “We totally missed dinner. Better call it a night then.”

Ron put his coat on, “Ok, talk to Moses about it tomorrow then,” he yawned loudly, “Good night man…”

Raymond sat back at his desk still wanting to think of more ways to save the hotel, his stomached rumbled a bit more, “So hungry…” he opened his drawer and grabbed a packet of biscuits and began to munch on them. The biscuits were so dry and tasteless, he looked at the brand, “I’m so going to write a letter and complain to this biscuit company…” he kept munching on the disgusting dry biscuits.

Raymond wasn’t sure if it was because he was too hungry but he could suddenly smell hot, fresh food coming from his door, he sniffed the air and looked up to see Charmaine standing by his office door holding up a take-away meal from the night markets, “Hungry?”

Raymond jumped up and ran to Charmaine, “My life savour,” he grabbed the food off Charmaine and ran back to his desk, “How did you know I was hungry?”

Charmaine sat on the chair across from him, “Because I know you would be too lazy to buy food,” she looked at the way Raymond was eating and sighed, “You’re getting it all over the place,” she leaned forward and wiped his mouth with a tissue.

Raymond swallowed his food and had a grin on his face, “Thanks,” he kept eating.

“How are things going? Did you and Ron think of anything?” Charmaine asked as she browsed Raymond’s messy desk, she could tell by the mess they haven’t had much success.

“Nothing so far,” Raymond finished eating and wiped his mouth, “But we’ll think of something,” he jumped up on his feet, “It’s really late, I’ll take you home.”

*Outside Grand Hotel, 1:19am*

Bosco leaned on a streetlight as he stood across from the hotel. He had been standing there for a while just watching the hotel. He shut his eyes thinking about the letter his dad wrote him, about everything his family had gone through because of the Cheuk family, about his brothers. All of this didn’t matter as much as the effect it had on Bosco, at this very point this revenge was all about him. He opened his eyes and saw Raymond and Charmaine walking out of the hotel.

Charmaine stopped across from Bosco, “Hey, its Bosco…” she pointed out to Raymond.

Till now Raymond didn’t have many positive vibes towards Bosco and after what Ron told him about what happened between him, Myolie and Tavia his impression of him had gone worst.

“What’s he doing here so late?” Raymond asked Charmaine as they walked across the road towards Bosco.

Bosco stood in the same spot as Raymond and Charmaine walked closer towards him.

“Why are you here so late?” Raymond asked.

Bosco didn’t answer Raymond but just stood there quietly.

“Why aren’t you answering me?” Raymond asked again. Bosco still didn’t answer, Raymond was slightly getting frustrated, the more he looked at Bosco the more he was reminded of Joe causing Frankie’s death, “Did you know that because of your brother’s actions have left me without a brother? He was the only family I had…”

Bosco still didn’t say anything, he had a piercing look in his eyes as he glared at Raymond.

“But at least Joe Ma got what he deserved. Ending up in a mental hospital, his conscience but have caught up with him,” Raymond sniped at Bosco, “as for you, you may seem to be different to your two brothers but the way you treated Myolie, I can tell you that you are exactly the same as them. I totally understand and support Myolie for leaving you.”

Charmaine stood by the side watching Bosco’s reaction; she could sense Bosco’s inner anger. She tugged on Raymond’s shirt, “Do you want to go now?”

“Ok,” Raymond held onto Charmaine and walked pass Bosco as he kept staring.

Charmaine walked passed him, the look in his eyes was just too familiar. She turned her head back to Bosco to take another glance. Bosco stood quietly with a smirk on his face; he held his hand out, making a gun figure with his fingers and pointed it in Raymond’s direction.

“Bang!” Bosco mouthed.

Charmaine quickly turned back around to Raymond; the look on Bosco’s face was frightening. This defiantly confirmed that she had seen him in the future but she just couldn’t remember where she saw him.

“What’s wrong?” Raymond asked noticing Charmaine was a little distracted.

“Nothing,” Charmaine smiled not wanting Raymond to get worried.

*Westwood Apartment, 2:49am*

Charmaine had such a hard time falling asleep; she kept tossing and turning on her bed. The image of Bosco kept revolving around in her head. The look in his eyes was terrifying. After tossing for a while Charmaine finally fell asleep having a dream recounting an event in the future.

#Charmaine’s Dream#

*Cheuk Mansion Year 2026*

Charmaine sat in her room on her laptop researching information. She read through hundreds of old online articles, she clicked onto a link leading her to an article about a murder happening in the year 2009.

The article titled, “Bosco Wong finally found innocent Murder” Charmaine scrolled down and kept on reading:

‘After several years of trial, Hotel Regel ‘s CEO Bosco Wong/Ma was found innocent for the murder of Grand Hotel’s General Manager Raymond Lam. It was reported that Raymond Lam had been murdered on the 28th May 2009. His body was discovered dumped in an alleyway with several knife wounds through his body. Although police had sufficient amount of evidence to charge to prime suspect Bosco Wong/Ma, but because of technical errors made by the police, Bosco Wong/Ma was able to walk free.’

Charmaine scrolled down and looked at the picture of Bosco, his eyes were piercing with evil, it was exactly the same as the look he had outside of the hotel.

“What a creep,” Charmaine commented at Bosco’s photo and clicked onto the next page.

#End of Charmaine’s Dream#

Charmaine was still tossing and turning on her bed as she kept on dreaming, “Raymond…” she mumbled in her sleep as she flashed another dream.

#Charmaine’s Dream#

Blood was dripping from Raymond’s leg as she stumbled into the alleyway, he hid behind a garbage dumpster hoping that he wouldn’t be found. Blood was oozing out of his wound as he pressed tightly to stop the blood from running. He kept really quiet as he heard footsteps coming towards him, he turned his head and saw a dark shadow following the trail of blood and walking towards him.

The footsteps stopped in front of Raymond, “Finally found you…” a cold voice said.

Raymond looked up at Bosco’s face covered with blood and jumped up attacking him. Bosco fought back punching Raymond’s face knocking him back to the ground. Although Raymond’s leg was injured, he managed to kick Bosco tripping him over. He jumped up again wanting to run to the exit of the alleyway but he suddenly stopped.

“Ah…” Raymond stopped moving and dropped onto his knees feeling the pain of Bosco’s knife jabbed into his back.

Bosco got up and wiped the blood off his face, he walked towards Raymond and pulled the knife slowly out of Raymond’s back.

“Ah!!” Raymond yelled feeling the pain of the knife. He lay on the ground as blood flowed out of his like a river.

Bosco stood over him with a smirk on his face, “You knew this would happen…” and stabbed Raymond again…

#End of Charmaine’s Dream#

“Raymond… Raymond…” she kept mumbling, “Raymond!” she yelled out just as the image of Bosco stabbing Raymond appeared in her dream. Charmaine was covered with both sweat and tears. Her whole face was practically wet and he body was shaking as she breathed hard trying to catch her breath.

“Raymond’s going to die…?”
